Saying an ambulance wouldn't arrive until the next day seems a little far fetched even for Thailand.   In Australia if an ambulance hasn't arrived in 10 minutes even during heavy peak traffic there would be a major investigation.

Unless she went shopping this morning it should have been the same price until her stocks ran out.  But she translated a 1 baht increase into 8 baht (on stock she bought weeks ago at the old price)

Expensive, bought an entire slab of 24 bottles of Hollandia beer in Australia last week for $27, imported and good beer that equates to around 27 baht a stubble.   Thailand is now expensive for alcohol compared to the rest of the world

Does anyone actually drink thai wine? Its putrid stuff.  Imported wine is so over priced and ridiculous.  I noticed a cheap bottle of aussie wine, riverside landing that retails at $3.50 AUD in australia was retailing in Thailand at 650baht.  They would be buying it at no more than 50 baht a bottle or $2.00 AUD. Riverside landing is putrid but better than thai wine.

So predicting sky rocketing tourist numbers  35+ million and large amount of those spend big on bars and booze and thats why so many come, cheap booze.  The government makes billions on sales to tourists so they had better be careful they dont price themselves out of tourism revenue.
