I have a Bangkok Bank account and it was a Visa card. When it reached expiry date the new card was no longer Visa and is now Union pay. Now it is a problem using it on line and even for a hotel deposit as many places will not accept it.

My experience as of March 2022 I did not have to pick one up at the airport. I told the the officer and he took me straight to the passport control desk and I did not fill a thing out it was all done by the officer at the desk within 1 minute. Also the op did not mention getting extensions all he asked about was getting a replacement. My original reply to someone who did not need to do an extension was that you do not need to do anything,just sort it easily at the airport upon leaving

I have done countless extensions using the ฿800 000 deposited in a Thai bank and have always had to have photo copies of the up to date bank account.

Thai Immigration laws require updated bank books to extend permission of stay. Therefore not archaic but essential.

I went to Udon Immigration and got myself a single re entry permit several weeks ago. 03 March l went to Bkk to fly back to the UK and realised my departure card had gone. At departure I informed the officer and she just processed me as normal. I did not have to fill out another one surprisingly.
