you cannot stop issuing plastic bags until there is a viable alternative
I'm all for it but it will fail without solutions for the gaping whole left in the retail market
I already refuse a bag if possible and have been doing for months
there is a visible alternative, they are all selling cloth bags

I see the Thai bashing mouth breathers have come out in force. Bang on about how much smarter they are than the average Thai but can't even do some basic research into this story.... just the same old knee jerk bs 'Thais are lazy' 'Thais are stupid' 'Thais can't do anything by themselves',
There are legitimate criticisms of some parts of Thai culture and society, especially towards the ones running the show. But thread after thread just get hijacked by morons spouting nonsense about all Thais are like this and that..
As stated by others, there is more to this story, this guy has some dodgy things going on, so try and do some actual research and stop being lazy

Wow had to pay 1.8 baht....I could handle that...
his methods might be wrong, but how many farangs here can say they employ Thais on a regular basis other than their nightly or weekly catch?
probably has extended the lives of many dogs and it aligns with how the Thai culture wishes to handle the soi dog population.....vs the impractical and ridiculous western attitude of many here of kill ‘em all...
Trying doing some research on the guy. He is currently under investigation for tax problems, misspending money and putting dogs down with no veterinary qualifications. There are a lot of reports of him mistreating his staff on a regular basis and it looks like other charities are trying to take over his shelter to sort out the mess he has made.

If its that bad they can quit anytime , they're not being forced to work their and pretty much mostly only have one dog to take care of so not exactly overworked are they .
I can only imagine how much time they spend sitting around talking/smoking like most Thai workers you see everywhere around the country .
Or, I know it sounds crazy, how about just treating them with some respect and not making them wait till the end of their shift to go to a hospital if they have been bitten - crazy I know.... or we could just ignore them cos Mr Barstool says Thais are lazy

I agree this is ridiculous and needs to be punished. BUT; the emergency vehicles here only exacerbate the problem when they drive around at low speeds, and for many non emergencies, with their lights flashing.
I was passed on a main road by two pickup trucks with fully geared SWAT team in the back. Yes, the vehicles said SWAT team. I passed them back when they stopped on the side of the road at noodle stand.so how do you know it is non-emergency? it is simple, if it is an ambulance, get out of the way - there is no grey area. And what have SWAT teams got to do with this?

Some tips.
1. When you rent a condo from somebody. a) Make sure the condo is owned by the person who is renting you (or his/her agent).
2. When you rent a condo from somebody make sure the ID (Thai or passport with a valid entry ) matches with what is printed in the Owner's book.
You can abandon the place now and move to decent condo and make sure all those documents are presented to you before you sign the contract.
Try reading the original post... and considering I have lived at the condo for 8 years, I think things will be fine ????

You should try to verify that your "landlord" is actually the owner, or you might be up for a surprise if one day the real owner shows up.
they are...

Nothing is sent after the report is submitted.
You need to a screenshot of the report page if you want proof it was done.
OK, and this will be sufficient for immigration when I do a visa extension? Sorry to ask, but you just never know with them

For what immigration office is this?
The Bangkok office will be satisfied with a copy of the lease contract when the tenant can't get the other documents from the owner.
It is at Bangkok. I just registered online, and got the ID and password no problem. So, just did it online, but do they email a receipt after notification?

Need to do the TM30, but the landlord of my condo says they don't have a copy of the housebook and have forgotten the house ID number.
Is it possible to still do the TM30 without these? Just need an answer to this, not 20 questions about why they don't have it. Thanks

Thanks for the info, always appreciated

I will be applying for a NON-B to then get a work permit soon. I am currently on an ED-Visa with extensions from a Thai college.
I know I need to cancel the ED, and then fly to Laos to do the Non-B.
Question is, how long do I get after going to Chaengwattana to cancel the ED visa (with a letter from the college) before I have to leave the country? Do they give you a day or two, or do you have to leave the same day?
Also, I will still be studying but part-time, does the college tell immigration I am cancelling the visa as I will be studying on a part-time basis?

When you hear them they are never racist and not anti-Muslim, they just share the concerns of the average Joe in the street.
so shall we forget all the Muslim people who served in both World Wars, who currently serve in the forces in the UK? Or, those Muslims that do countless charity work in the country, who pay taxes, who live their lives just like anyone else?
Or, shall we just lump everyone together, so if you are a Muslim you MUST be dodgy, so you can push an extremist right-wing agenda. Tommy Robinson is the opposite side of the shitty extremist coin as Islamic extremists

I thought you were talking about Thailand and do not really understand why this is an issue for you. But in the UK we talk of Polish immigrants They are white. And the Russian emigre class was famous. Australians refer to various immigrant groups who are white. I think you are just bringing, false, contentious and irrelevant SJW issues to the forum..Just shallow identitarian politics.
ahh the SJW bs buzzword argument... I am asking a question, why do middle class white Europeans get called expats and others don't? And the Polish thing is right, why aren't they called expats when they go to the UK but we are happy to call ourselves expats if we settled in Poland?
I am questioning identity politics not creating them... big difference

No. It's because we don't get to vote, get citizenship etc etc. Immigrants get these civic rights.
then why do white immigrants who get those rights in other countries, get called expats, but others don't?

Certainly my visa/extension clearly states non-immigrant, and I am required to jump through several hoops each year, mainly financial, which means I am here on a year to year basis at the Thai government's pleasure. I do not know if that makes me an ex-pat, but it certainly does not make me an immigrant.
of course you are an immigrant, or you can call everyone who goes to live in another country an expat, or again, is that only for white people?

Yeah it sounds strange for the seller to need that.
My guess is that when you are doing it via the power of attorney you would need that. You don't need it if doing by power of attorney. I know, I have sold three bikes in Thailand, all by power of attorney and I have never needed a letter or residency
-
2 hours ago, Lovethailandelite said:
OK. I now see how you bought it and registered it. You will certainly need to obtain a residency certificate to be able to sell it as I i am pretty certain you cannot use your outdated work permit. It's difficult as I haven't come across this before. Immigration should issue you a residency certificate showing your condo contract. You certainly don't need to be doing 90 day reports in order to obtain one.
You DO NOT need a residency certificate to SELL a bike or car. Just passport and visa copy.
-
You don't need letter of residence to sell the bike. The new owner does if they are a foreigner without a work permit, you as the seller do not.
You need to sign the transfer papers and provide a signed copy of the photo page of your passport and your current visa.
