  1. Perhaps it’s not about “being wrong” and more about self interest?
  2. And yet … Trump has consistently praised the Secret Service detail? That’s incredibly magnanimous of him, don’t ya think? I recall that the Secret Service tried to get Mike Pence into a car on Jan 6th, but he refused to go because he suspected an “accident” would befall him. That implies that Pence thinks they would do Trump’s bidding? When known facts/rumours emerge in the coming weeks there will be many questions. I’ve already seen tv interviews where eyewitnesses talk about two shooters … one on the water tower? I’ve read a report that Crooks was on that roof for 30 minutes? He had bombs in his car? Trump is at golf the next day with no ear bandage, and no visible marks, but he’s at the Convention the next day with a sanitary towel stuck to his ear. It's very murky.
  3. I thought he was a Beatles fan? Because he knows sod all about the other guy.
  4. You mean like Epstein and Weinstein? They were around for years before they were held to account. But it’s true that stepping into the political arena results in closer scrutiny. It’s not really a surprise, because you have an opposition looking for dirt. So not coincidental, totally expected. And it doesn’t mean that what you’re being accused of is false.
  5. Did Q tell you that? For someone that’s “clearly unfamiliar” with the US I see comments on many platforms, from prominent US citizens and ordinary citizens, that agree with me that US democracy is under threat. Nice try at gaslighting, but no cigar!
  6. … bringing Hitler into a Trump thread? I am in good company. Even his new Vice President pick called him “America’s Hitler”.
  7. Anyone who doesn't believe that what happened in Germany could happen in their country is a fool ... and you're well qualified for that role.
  8. He didn't have the enablers in place he has now. The checks and balances are no longer there, he'll only appoint people who say "yes" ... consider how many former Trump appointments warn about giving him a second term? Trump has been charged with 88 felony counts across four criminal investigations ... but the politically stacked Supreme Court will give him a free pass. And these are only the crimes that are known. We could also talk about the rape and sexual assault allegations ... and in particular the ones related to Epstein and a 13 year old girl. We could question why Saudi Arabia transferred $2billion to Jared? A guy with no investment experience. We can consider whether his Russian links were properly investigated? God knows what else.
  9. You create a "crisis" that requires the incumbent to stay in place. With Hitler it began with the Reichstag building fire ... leading to the Enabling Act and the Emergency Decree as well as the Night of the Long Knives ... and before you know it Germany is a one party state. Germany had its traditions and laws ... none of that stopped Hitler. Trump will attempt something along those lines. An existential crisis requires extraordinary measures, and he will step up as the saviour of the country ... a fist pumping fraud. They'll promise that things will get back to normal once the crisis is over ... but it never will. I'd like to think that you don't believe that could happen in the US, and that's your objection, but I suspect that it is actually what you want to happen.
  10. In 1930's Germany they also had laws and traditions.
  11. Trump in a second term will be the most corrupt President ever to sit in the seat. The idea that he is “needed” to clean up corruption beggars belief. He will create a criminal enterprise, and call it a Government. And I’ll not be surprised if he tries to challenge the two term only rules … get ready to watch your Constitution get thrown in the bin.
  12. Hitler came to power in a democracy … he didn’t go straight to building extermination camps … it all built up slowly. Get in power, take over the institutions that ensure checks and balances, ban the opposition (enemies of the people) and expel and jail anyone who could foster any type of opposition. I used to have a similar view to you … “that’s not possible here, that would never happen”. Yet it is happening in front of my eyes, and I can’t understand why so few people don’t see the danger? Jerry Springer story, as an illustration. I watched him on tv one day many years back, he was being interviewed, it was not his show. He told the story of his father, who had fled the Nazi’s. Springer went to visit him, I think his Dad was a very old man at the time, and not really up to driving. Yet he had a fully serviced car in his garage? Springer asked his Dad why he kept a car he’d never drive. His answer - “in case they come again”. At the time I thought like Springer, that his Dad was preparing for an event that could never happen in the US. I was wrong. I suspect his Dad lived in a Europe where such a thing could never happen … yet he subsequently lived that experience. There was nothing special about Germany, it wasn’t a unique characteristic of the people that brought Hitler to power. The sad fact is that it can happen in any country force fed propaganda and lies. Springer’s old dad understood better, because it was a lived experience for him.
  13. Many a true word spoke in jest. Your quip about the guy packing his toothbrush to be sent to a concentration camp is the type of scenario witnessed in Russia, an authoritarian and criminal regime. With Trump in charge that’s exactly where you are heading. And you know it … your comment confirmed that.
  14. And that’s exactly the oppressive dictatorship that the US is heading towards. It will become like Russia, a criminal enterprise masquerading as a Government.
  15. Did you meet many when you were socialising there?
  16. Is that why he’s always on stage dancing away to the Village People’s YMCA?
  17. Gee, I wonder why that happened? As information on this event starts to leak I suspect we will have many more questions about strange coincidences and inconsistencies. Where Trump is concerned, you can’t take anything at face value.
  18. The form team won. England had a good spell after the substitutions but Spain were the best team over the course of the game. A lot of twitter comments berating Southgate ... but to be fair two finals is better than his predecessors, with the exception of Ramsey.
  19. Seems I'm not alone ... it's all part of the budding dictator's playbook. Let's see what comes out in the wash over the next few weeks. From The Daily Beast A top Democratic strategist to LinkedIn co-founder and Democratic tycoon Reid Hoffman floated the possibility the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump may have been a false-flag operation, according to an email to journalists obtained by Semafor. Dmitri Mehlhorn said in the Saturday evening email that one possibility for the attack—“which feels horrific and alien and absurd in America, but is quite common globally”—is that it was both encouraged and potentially staged by Trump to secure a political advantage. “This is a classic Russian tactic, such as when Putin killed 300 civilians in 1999 and blamed it on terrorists to ride the backlash to winning power,” Mehlhorn wrote, according to Semafor. “Others who have embraced this tactic of committing raw evil and then benefitting from the backlash include Hamas on October 7. If any Trump officials encouraged or knew of this attack, that is morally horrific, and Republicans of decency must demand that Trump step down as unfit.”
  20. Yeah, the Pilsbury Dough Boy out-muscled his security detail ...
  21. Are they trained to presume there is no second shooter?
  22. Don’t talk nonsense, and stop ignoring the valid point being made. After the SS realised there was an attempt on his life they would never let his face and chest be exposed the way it was. He would be covered completely with bodies and bundled into a van … not staged for a photo opportunity. There were many people around him, more than enough to hide him from view.
