I will soon apply marriage visa non-O in my homecountry. I've contacted embassy and based on my understanding, they required me to have 400k baht "sleep" in bank account for 2 months prior my visa application. is this true? My case is that my 400k is scattered through Singapore bank, Thai Bank, and Indonesia bank. I could gather them all in one designated account but then i will need the visa as late as October 2019, which mean barely 2 months away from August.

Another option is to apply 3-month single entry non-O, then replace/renew/re-extend it in Thailand to be 1-year non-O (that should give enough time for 400K to sleep 2 months in the bank). But where can i extend it? We will live in North and travel down to ChaengWattana is quite troublesome. Can i replace that 3-month non-O with 1-year multi-entry somewhere in the north of Thailand?

And how do i prove of this "sleeping" 400K saving? just take the bank's book to immigration? or do i need to request the bank to issue me some kind of document?

    Thank you

If you come in with a single entry non-O you should be able to apply for an extension of stay before the final month of the visa's validity and by then have the money in a bank for 2 months.

As far as I know you will be able to apply for an extension of stay in any of the immigration offices. If you mention the town/city you will live in perhaps someone can advise of the closest one. I think most provinces have one.

I got this two weeks ago from the I.O officier booth 8,  at the Jomtien office.  Basically told her that I wanted to ship addition money from my bank back home and was using Transferwise and as we know lately some problems with the deposit ing ( FTT ) in the bank book.

"Told,  when it comes to the 800,000 or 400,000 method they aren't concern about how it is marked in the bank book but whether the funds are there enough been seasoned before and after "  There is also a new hand made sign in front of the Booth 8 stating "  90 report with bank book "

    Good luck

Thanks for the info. Good to hear from someone who has done it recently at the same office I plan to do it

  3. I will soon be applying for an extension of stay based on marriage. I read somewhere that you need proof that the 400,000 baht was transferred from overseas.

In my case, I have transferred money across to my Thai bank over the course of a couple of years, rather than one large deposit. I used transferwise, as it happens.

My question is, it it necessary to show proof that the money came in from an overseas account? If so, how would I go about doing that if there are many transfers spread out over a few years, rather than one large one.

It will be the Jomtien immigration office in which I apply (not sure if this makes a difference).

You can apply for an extension of stay during the last 30 days of any of the 90 day entries the visa allows.

You can do one for the last entry before the visa expires if you want to.

    Thanks for the info Ubonjoe.

So if I came in on my last entry just a couple of days before the visa expires, I would get another 90 days and from there I can apply for the extension of marriage during the last 30?

Previously when I used the METV I would plan my last entry just before it expires, to get nearly 8 months out of it in total rather than 6. I just wasn't sure if this can also be done with Non-Imm O multi visas as well

  5. I have a multiple entry Non-Immigrant O Visa based on marriage to a Thai and the expiry date is at the end of February 2020.

Am I right in thinking that as long as I leave and enter again before the expiry date (even just a day or two before) that I will be granted another 90 day stay in Thailand, even though the visa expiry date would have passed during this time?

If so, would it also be possible to begin the process for the extension of stay based on marriage during this final entry of the visa or does this need to be done before the visa expiry date?

I'm planning a long stay in SE Asia (as long as possible). I have a girlfriend in Thailand for 3 years and I have visited the country many times but the stays were for only for 30 days a time visa exempt because I was returning to work in the UK. I have found a way to make money on the internet in the range of £1500-£2500 per month without selling physical products.

I was looking at the METV as an option, but I'm not employed by a company and I don't run a business, I make my money from freelance trading on my laptop. How would I go about obtaining this visa and would Thailand consider me making money like this as working in Thailand?

I have had 3 METV visas without working for a company. I just showed my recent SA100 (self assessment) form which was sufficient each time. If you are freelancing, then I guess you will be categorised as self employed for tax purposes so you should be able to do the same.

  7. I recently got married in Thailand (November) although the official paperwork for the marriage registration is still getting processed.

I am now back in the UK, after being in Thailand since last May using an METV visa (I made 3 trips outside of the country during this time, each for a week or so, entering back to Thailand to get another 60 days from my METV Visa. I extended last 60 day entry at immigration to get an additional 30 days before I headed back to the UK last week).

My plan was to apply to get the Non-O Multiple Entry Visa via post from London, however due to the registration of marriage taking longer than I had anticipated at the Amphur I went to, it means the registration of marriage will not be complete until after I go back.

I intend to apply for a SETV from the London Embassy via post, so that I can enter Thailand next month, get the marriage certificate etc and then head off to a nearby consulate/embassy to get the Non-O Multiple Entry Visa.

I am just concerned about the fact I have just come back recently following my METV that perhaps they will not issue me a SETV so soon after.

Is it worth mentioning my situation and sending additional documents to them with the application such as bank statements, copy of the marriage documents I have supplied to the Amphur in Thailand (complete with stamp to show it's being processed) or will this not help/be unnecessary?

I know the requirements for an SETV do not include things such as bank statements but thought it might help in my case - along with the reason why I plan to return back so soon after my METV expire.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated

  8. Hello,

Does anyone know if it's possible now to get a Multiple Entry Non imm O (marriage) from Phnom Penh?

I saw on the embassy website that it seems possible: http://www.thaiembassy.org/phnompenh/en/services/1435/21866-Non-Immigrant--O-(THAI-SPOUSE).html

But also saw a fairly recent thread (2017) where Ubonjoe says it's a no go:

Anyone know what the current situation is and/or why it was or is considered a no go for a multiple entry?

I will have the 400k to show in a Thai bank if needed and fancy a trip to Phnom Penh over Laos but don't fancy going if they don't issue them.

I would consider HCMC or Bali too so if anyone has any info about those two embassies for getting a multi entry visa (non o - marriage) that would also be useful.

    Thanks in advance

Thanks Ubonjoe. In my case it looks like the multiple entry would be the best thing as I know for sure I will be leaving within 90 days of the first two entries.

If I was to apply for an extension of stay based on marriage to my Non O multiple entry visa, would they add 275 days to complete the year only if the extension is made during the first 90 day entry period or can these 275 days be added to any subsequent entry?

  10. I will soon be applying for a Non Immigrant 'O' visa from London via post based on the fact I am married to a Thai. After checking previous forum posts, many people said that there is no need to send any proof of finances to them, although the London Embassy website says differently (http://www.thaiembassy.org/london/en/services/7742/84508-Non-Immigrant-visas.html).

Anyway, I decided to email the embassy to see if it is required and this is the response I received (which is consistent with what's shown on their website as well):

    'Dear Sir/Madam,

    • For accompanying a Thai spouse : A copy of marriage certificate, a copy of Thai passport/a copy of Thai ID of spouse, and (3 months bank statement showing monthly income of more than £1,400.)
    • Single entry 50 GBP

    Kind Regards,

    Visa Officer'

They then sent a follow up email to remind me that a additional £10 postage fee is required.

Have things changed recently or is this officer mistaken? I am happy to send my bank statements although I am self employed and have irregular dates and amounts of payments into my account rather than a fixed monthly salary (I assume this won't be an issue - but any advice on this would also be useful).

    Thanks in advance

  11. I will be going back to the UK soon and once there, I plan to apply for a Non-immigrant O visa (based on marriage to a Thai).

After looking on the London Embassy website, I see there is an option for a single (£50) or multiple entry (£125). I assume that the multiple entry will work similar to how the METV works, by letting me leave and come back in again after my initial 90 day stay and receive another 90 days.

    My question is this though...

If I intend to apply for an extension of stay based on marriage at my local immigration office towards the end of my initial entry into Thailand, is there any need for me to opt for the multiple entry Non-O visa? Could I just apply for the single entry, then apply for an extension of stay within Thailand and then opt for a multiple entry solution there rather than when I apply for the visa in England?

I want to be able to come in and out of Thailand as I please but don't want to unnecessarily buy the multiple entry Non-O visa if I can just get the single entry and then opt for a multiple entry solution once I am ready to apply for an extension of stay.

Any advice would be greatly received
