What kind of info are people providing for the letter from employer section? I own a UK Ltd. company (ignore screen name) so I am my own boss.

Is it just the self assessment and company registration that is required, or do I have to provide additional documentation?

On the three occasions I applied I just showed the SA100 (self assessment form). This was at the Glasgow consulate.

    From the guidance notes:

    a) Original bank statement showing a balance of at least £5000 or a printout with official stamp of the bank.

It doesn't specify for the whole 6 month period. A couple of years ago the consulate said she only needed the final balance statement. Saves a tree

First time I got one, the requirement sheet said 6 month period. More recently (March) the requirement sheet didn't have this mentioned on it, but I went with 6 months of statements to be safe.

When I applied for it I asked if it was necessary to show 6 months of balance, as it used to be on the sheet, but wasn't anymore. She said no. This was at Glasgow

Has anyone heard anything about a limit on how many METV you can get? I'm headed back to the USA in June to get yet another from the LA consulate, and I just wanna make sure there isn’t some limit I’m unaware of. (This will be the 5th METV visable in my current passport, and 7th overall)

    Thanks in advance :)

I'm on my third in a row. Had no questions asked either at the consulate when applying or indeed immigration whenever entering on an METV

  4. I am trying to decide where to go for a SETV early next year after my METV runs out. This will tide me over until I travel back home - so I will have proof of a flight out of Thailand (if this is required). Just wondering if anyone had been to Phnom Penh recently and had any problems? I will choose either there or Penang but preference is Phnom Penh.

Also, does anyone anticipate any problems with getting a SETV following on from the expiration of a METV? My METV is the only visa in my passport (it's not as though it's full of various other Thai tourist visas).

    Any info/suggestions would be appreciated

  5. Am I correct in thinking that soon, some people who were granted the METV and used it to its maximum potential (i.e. 6 months plus coming in just before final entry date to get another 60 days + 30 days extension at an immigration office) will be at the end of their overall period of stay in the Kingdom from it?

My question is, has anyone yet attempted to get another METV soon after their first one expired?

I guess this would also apply to people who just used it for the 6 months and didn't try and get the extra 60 + 30 days, although if one was to immediately try and get another one, I assume they would have tried to get as much out of the first one as possible.

Perhaps this has been posted elsewhere already but I am sure some people will be interested to know if anyone has any experience of this.

  6. Also the METV visa starts from when it is issued, not when you make your first entry.

The last entry must be made on or before the visa expiry date on the issued visa, which will be 6 months after it is issued.
So best to get it as soon your date of arrival in Thailand as possible if you want to get the maximum use of it.

On your last entry you will again receive another 60 days - so if you time it right (i.e. make the entry just before the visa expiry date) you can get around 8 months from this visa, which can then be extended by a further 30days at an immigration office like a regular tourist visa.

  7. I am in the UK and have a UK passport. I went to get a METV last week. I took my documents into the consulate and had the visa stuck in my passport 20 minutes later. The lady there was really friendly and was a good experience. I had to pay an extra £10 for same day issue. She mentioned to me that she hasn't issued many METV as a lot of people can't show the employment letter.

Just an update on my arrival in BKK with my METV. I gave the immigration officer my passport and she took a while but stamped it with no questions. One thing I did notice is that she has wrote 1,2,3 on the bottom of the visa and stamped the date next to the number 1. I found that strange as it is not a triple entry visa, I thought the new METV meant we can come and go as many times as we please until the visa expires? Is that correct?

Yes we can go in and out as much as you want. Not sure why she did that - It doesn't necessarily mean you have only 3 entries though. This didn't happen when I came in though - I just got an entry stamp on the opposite page to the visa.

  8. I got mine in Hull. If you show your SA i dont think there will be a problem. Best to call first and ask

The SA will be fine with company registration. Its on the application form, i was just interested in the employer letter situation.

why do you say 'with company registration' this is not mentioned on the Hull consulate webpage requirements - only the SA100 (which I have - dont think I have registered my 10 year old UK sole trader company that I pay tax on every year, although i'm not sure)

    or

If you are self-employed, a copy of your HMRC SA100 Self Assessment Tax Form for the last tax year.

The requirements at the consulate I went to said self assessment and company registration on their website. However, I just provided my SA tax return and that was fine.

  9. I just got my METV visa yesterday. I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience using it?

    My questions are:

1.) Will the immigration officer at my point of arrival in Thailand be looking to see any of the supporting documents such as flight out of Thailand, hotel bookings etc that provided in my visa application at the embassy, or will the visa alone be ok?

2.) When I plan to come back in again on one of the entries, will I again have to provide details of my next flight out of Thailand and where I will be staying during this entry?

Similar questions I know, but whereas I have these documents for my first entry, I don't have any plans beyond that.

    Thanks in advance

What did you provide to get the TVME? I'm this varies, I'm just wondering if its the same as my local consulate.

I provided a bank statement, flight ticket into thailand, flight ticket out of thailand at the end of the first entry, hotel confirmation for the duration of the first entry and a completed tax return to show self-employment status.

Was the bank statement the latest month or 6 months? I'm planning on showing the flight for 5ish months, hopefully that won't be a problem. The logic is you can easily book a flight out or go overland or get an extension before the 60 day point.

I showed two bank statements actually. One was from a savings account which showed end balance from last two years. Other was current account but just from the last month.

  12. Does anyone know what is required in terms of hotel bookings and flight tickets when applying for the METV?

I have a booked ticket to thailand and also can show ticket going out of Thailand before the first 60 days will be up. I also have hotel reservations booked for this period of time.
Will this be enough? Or do they require every flight ticket for the proposed 6 month duration going in and out of Thailand as well as hotel bookings for the whole time?

Personally I dont like to plan that far in advance!

  13. Do you by any chance know if residents from outside Scotland can apply for a Thai visa in Glasgow? Being from Newcastle, this is probably easier for me to get to than Liverpool or Birmingham but the header of their website says 'VISA application for Scottish Visitors to Thailand'.

There is no reason why the Glasgow office would not help you in fact their Home page on the website says "We are here to help persons, of any nationality, wishing to visit Thailand with information about visa requirements and to issue visas to those who require them"

    http://www.thaiconsulscotland.org.uk/

I thought so - but wasn't sure it would be the same for the METV as you need to apply from your own country. Having a UK passport will surely be what they require - it was just the ''VISA application for Scottish Visitors to Thailand' as the page title for the visa section that threw me off!

    Thanks for your comments
