The punishment should not be affected by the country's image. One would hope it would punished the same irrelevant of the country's image, age, race or gender of the parties involved.

Sounds like there maybe some element of culpability with the seized tail rotor, however with the neutral AAIB investigation concluding the helicopter met all regulatory requirements this would probably be argued down to a maintenance issue which would not directly be the responsibility of the manufacturer. Certainly that amount I am guessing would be an impossibility to argue. If a Boeing jet goes down because of a mistake during maintenance it is the operators responsibility not the firms.

Yeah agree - the penalties here are pretty harsh but he must have known that, its a class B in the UK so he'd probably have got some time there. I totally agree with this, however I think some of the posts are more about being skeptical how the incident will be dealt with by the authorities rather than being hateful. It is a terrible thing when anyone dies especially that far away from home and their relatives have to deal with the loss.

That is a good explanation 🙂 I am from England and get confused myself, English. Scottish and Welsh people are still British despite Scotland's intent on independence (which the majority of people from Scotland have voted against in referendums) which slowed down when the former Scottish prime ministers husband was implicated in many crimes 🙂 devolution and independent country governance for NI, Wales and Scotland has been in place for a while now. The only independent country and part of the EU which the UK is not now and has caused civil wars in our small islands in that part of the world in the past (Northern Ireland (UK)/ Ireland (EU) ) is also now on the mend hopefully, but personally I think it will take another couple of generations to forget the Irish conflict completely.

This has to be one of the best pieces of reporting and amusing explanations of a news article I have ever read on AN/TV, so I am guessing the moral of the story is don't record video while driving. don't rent a scooter if you don't know about Thai roads, ensure your insurance covers stupidity, wear a gum shield while driving a motorbike, and don't ask the BIB for a comment 555.
