  1. sounds like he tagged a personal holiday on the end of a business trip.

    so whats the big deal?

he had to be here for business anyway, and he used some of his annual leave to take advantage of being here already.

he paid for his own hotel and expenses beyond what was required for the conference...

there is no additional expense for the taxpayer....

    sounds like jealousy.

  2. what kind of underseal are we talking about here?

in the states they try to sell you an underspray and it is well regarded as a suckers bet, its basically a cheap useless rust spray if anything.

i assume that what you are talking about is something different as rust isnt the issue here.

  3. i don't think the dishonesty or scamming has anything to do with the thai race.

it's economics- poor people trying to get ahead, combined with lack of law enforcement.

this doesn't happen as much in the USA because someone would report it to the police, who seem to love to do their job, and the scammer would be in handcuffs and a jail cell in minutes.

here they are poor, and know they can get away with the crime. if caught, a smile is their legal defense.

  4. i dont want to get in the spat here, so for informational purposes i'll just say that i have l lived in both the basic 7,000 baht room outside the city center and a 40k place in the cbd.

i lived in the 7k room when i was a bit of a vagrant and it was enough for me at the time. had a decent bathroom, hot water and a little balcony with a view. tall cielings and a wood floor. i made it nice inside and it was all i needed at the time.

when i became full time employed in bkk i moved up to a 2 br place in the city and its nice. i like having a kitchen. i can walk to the office, shopping and restaurants.

and now as my job grows, and my family as well, i'm buying a very big nice place.

for me it is all about living within your means and needs.

  5. anyone with a few spare minutes that can explain financing basics for buying a condo here would be appreciated.

honestly don't know much about current desirable interest rates, and plusses and minusses of different length of loan terms, and lastly is it beneficial to put most of my savings into it to reduce interest on loan, etc, or better to put the minimum down.

thanks and apologies for my ignorance on this.
