  1. just be sure to do your research of exchange rates first, either on interenet, or if on the plane, check the business section of the paper.

and double count your money and check the math of the exchange booth guys.

in don muang they tried to shaft me several times.

  2. ladies, come on now. we could easily rewrite this from our point of view!

.... the woman who are pretty, seem kind of nice at first, divorce you after a few years for 'not developing thier inner potential' for them and take half of all you ever earned..!

  3. this is sad.

the only answer i can come up with is to find the next up on the power chain to this guy. who does he respect or look up to. there must be a father or big brother or local mafia headman who can be approached. that person must be convinced of the severity of the situation. then that guy must have a serious talk with mr abusive.

  4. i'm a straight guy who found this thread by searching the word sin sod in my own marriage research.

so hope you won't mind me saying that if the world is not prepared to give the gay community the fair right to have a fully recognized marriage, then why should you get stuck with paying sin sod?

that'd be like paying the price without getting the full goods.

  5. i've had good luck getting there quickly too.

i go to the airport almost every week, often at rush hour. never missed a flight! the only traffic trouble for me is on sathorn or around rama IV.

once you are on the tollways, and as long as your taxi driver is the standard thai speed demon, you get there quite quick.

  6. a few years back i got a visa at chiang khong. took only about a day. was a chilled out enough town to spend a nite there was ok.

the big question is whether to take the slow or fast boat if youre going to luang prabang. plusses and minusses for each.

    my 160th post on thaivisa

  8. i dont like the idea of capitol punishment

but i dont like the idea of people sneaking drugs into someone elses country.

if my kids overdosed on some drugs and i found the pusher i'd be tempted to carry out a certain form of punishment

  9. i had my shoes stolen from outside a temple in ayuthaya.

    can you believe it?

i take my shoes off to be respectful and some monkey steals my shoes.

i had to take a tuk tuk to some shop and buy sandals half my size.

but, this is not uniquely a fault of thailand.

  10. any snakes, milipedes centipedes and scorpions that i come across on my land will be killed without a trial.

spare me the political and spiritual correctness but many are dangerous, and one less of them is good in my book.

  11. the difficulty with buying a used car in thailand is that, as far as i understand, cars dont depreciate at any standard formula, nor is thier a blue-book value, the price is just whatever amount of money the seller wants so be sure its a good value or youre better off getting a new one, and then you have the assurance that the owner didnt drive the car abusively and have hidden damage do you like run-on sentence like i do?
