I have an American drivers license and motorcycle license... I bought a motorcycle and it would be nice to drive it around the neighborhood, but I'm sure as hell not going to drive it illegally. When I get out of quarantine i will go apply for the motorcycle license and update my expired (by one month) drivers license in Chiang Mai. I'll update you guys when it is done about the process I experience
Shouldn't be hard with a valid motorcycle license from the states unless your bike is 400cc or more. Than you will need a big bike license which I think means you need to go to a big bike drivers school.

Yep it's a separate license. Looks just like the car license except there is a picture of a motorbike on the back instead of a car. You will have to do all the paperwork again, take a written test again, watch a video and then take a driver's test on your motorbike. Good luck.

Has anyone got their $600 stimulus check here in Thailand which GetMyPayment says was mailed Jan. 6?
Got mine but I have direct deposit to my Thai bank account.

Had a Mazda 3 for 6 years before I bought the CX30. Great car, never had a problem with it and the 2 liter engine with 6 speed transmission will run rings around most other hatchbacks.

Do you have a link that shows where you can get your Social Security benefits direct deposited to a Thai bank and withdraw using an ATM?
No all I have is the form. It's been over a year since I saw the article and don't remember what publication. You can see on the form it is for either a checking account or savings account. You wouldn't have to go in person to take money out of a checking account.

A few years back when I signed up for a retirement check, Bangkok Bank was the only place to be able to receive the deposit. My question is if I complete this government form, can I now establish an account where an ATM card will work instead of having to show up in person. Is that correct?
Yes and it can even be a joint account. Also, if you are a veteran and receiving disability payments they can go into a Thai bank account with form VBA -24-0296a.

$600 sitting in my account this morning. For those that do not know you can get your social security payment direct deposited into any Thai bank account you have. Just fill out Form SSA-1199-OP107,

Immigration also asked me to provide paperwork as to where my monthly deposits were coming from. i.e., company pension, government pension, etc.

I thought you'd have nicer wheels if it's the top model.
You thought wrong.

Bought a top spec CX 30 in April and I have nothing bad to say about the car. Very comfortable and has all the bells and whistles one can get except cooled seats. Rides smoother and quieter than my old 2014 Mazda 3. Pretty quick when compared to other Thai cars with its 2 liter engine and 6 speed trans.

If you do not have a Thai drivers license some companies will not pay.

Try a local gym as many have yoga groups.

Prices in Thailand include a caddy. Most muni courses in the US do not even offer a caddy.
I'm 73 and like to walk a course (if it's flat. lol) but I do not want to have to push my clubs around on a push cart. I actually enjoy having a caddy. Most are good golfers and know the course you are playing and have helpful hints.

Foreigners can not own land in Thailand.

Not true.
A lot of people believe an Affirmation of Residence document is required to sell a car. A lot of websites also indicate this. I also used to believe this was the case after reading so many websites on the subject when I was selling my car back in 2016. I went through the hassle of getting the Affirmation of Residence document to sell my car - it turns out the Affirmation of residence document was never necessary (transferring in Bangkok at least).
Thus: An Affirmation of Residence from your Embassy, (or Letter of Proof of Address from Immigration / Your yellow house book) is require to register a car in your name, but not to sell your car.
I have sold 1 motorcycle and 2 cars over the last 4 years and was not required to show any proof of residence.
In the past 2 years I have sold a car and a motorcycle without being present at the DLT - the sale was done at my apartment:
- cash was handed over (taken to a nearby bank and counted).
- A Power of Attorney for sale of vehicle document filled
- Signed Copies of passport and current visa (any visa, or visa exemption stamp is ok),
- Completed Vehicle Transfer Application form.
- Signed Blue Car Book.
IF you are accompanying the seller to the DLT - all thats required is:
- Money handed over (cash or cashiers check verified by the bank)
- Signed PhotoCopy of your passport and current visa (any visa, or visa exemption stamp is ok) and your
- Completed Vehicle Transfer Application form.
- Signed Blue Car Book.
I bough and sold 4 cars in my name in the 14 years of residency here and I needed a Letter of Residency each time I bough and sold a car. Just my experience.

Some personalized plates cost millions of baht. Like 99999. Most are not available as the are already sold.
-
You need a Certificate of Residence from Thai Immigration to sell the car if it is your name and I don't think you can get the certificate on a tourist visa.

Be there everyday when they are building the house to make sure no short cuts are taken. I would visit the site everyday around noon and bring food for the workers as most of them just had a small amount of rice and water for lunch.
My house was built 14 years ago and I have had no problems.

Where did you get "3 months" from? You should get a permanent license plate in less than a month. I just bought a new Mazda CX30 and got a new plate in 2 weeks.
The red plate is issued by the dealer where you buy the car and should come with a registration book. The new plate comes to the dealer and you turn your red plate and book when the dealer puts on your permanent plate.
You can get personalized plates in Thailand but they are EXPENSIVE.

Sorry to break into the love fest here......but go to Japan and see how many Mazdas are on the road......very very few. The Japanese know quality and they buy Toyota, not Mazda, Nissan, Subaru or other makes.
Japan is a unique market. The leading car in sales in Japan is a Toyota Prius and the second best selling car is a Nissan Note. They are also into kie cars (mini cars) so the best selling Honda is the N-Box. Can't compare apples to oranges.
