  1. ...and how about far left wing ideologies? They going to ban the hammer and sickle soon? Or pictures of Mao or Che Guevara? Tolerance is one of the cornerstones of a diverse and free society. A couple morons waving the flags of a defeated nation won't have any influence at all. Just laugh at them and ignore them. By giving them a grievance you only make them feel persecuted.
  2. What a terrible idea. Are Australians really so delicate that the mere sight of a historical symbol will give them the vapors? I think they are stronger than that. Better to let these cranks and idiots in public and ridicule them rather than drive them underground.
  3. I know, that is what I said. So, having illegal migrants contributes to the problem of otherwise able bodied Americans not being in the workforce.
  4. Nicholas Eberstadt wrote about this earlier this year- a very good article IMHO: https://www.nationalaffairs.com/publications/detail/education-and-men-without-work What you say is part of the truth. Also the competition from illegal workers which drive wages down in certain jobs. Also changing family structure (fewer marriages and children) and dependency on various government assistance programs. Worth a read.
  5. ...and yet another variation of the "but Trump...." defence used for anything Biden related. Hunter was a drug addled nobody who was given a sinecure by a company seeking influence with the US government.
  6. Curious, how do you see the rest of the candidates? Which are palatable... I saw Senator Scott on TV (The View) and he handled himself very well. Showed grace and character when he was being needled by the harpies. To be honest I am not sold on DeSantis at all. Ramaswamy is a sharp guy but really too young, he is probably angling for a cabinet post.
  7. Not a bad outcome. For me, keeping Biden/Harris/Trump ALL far from the White House is the best possible outcome. Hopefully with a principled and decent conservative in their place.
  8. Sounds like a lot of fear on the left, disguised as sputtering vituperation with a side dish of snide.
  9. Just remember how he made Marco Rubio look like a fool in 2016... Christie helped Trump doing debate prep in the 2020 campaign. From what I have heard in Christie interviews, Trump was not a good student. Christie may not get the nomination, but he can do a "murder suicide" like he did on Rubio and clear the field for someone else. Then get rewarded as VP or perhaps Attorney General.
  10. Gotta say I like big Chris too. He is very sharp, has a New Jersey bulldog kind of personality. I just dont see what his constituency is. As I have said before, my dream is Christie/Kristi for the win.
  11. True. Because alongside the wages, there are also incentives to NOT work- especially overly generous social programs. Plus overly kind parents who let their adult children skulk around the family home well past when they should be living as independent adults. And partners in relationships who let their partners get away with being lazy. Nicholas Eberstadt wrote about this in his book "Men Without Work" published in 2016 and re-edited in 2022 to account for Covid.
  12. Be sure to also check out workforce participation numbers. Lots of able bodied people are sitting on the sidelines. Or rather, on the sofa.
  13. Anyone polling upwards of 20% against an incumbent is a serious contender. Nutbagger status or not.
  14. Worse for the Democrats would be a RFK Jr independent campaign. Which he just might do if he is ignored by the party heirarchy.
  15. I think the point is that it was advertised as an "all ages" event. Which it was most obviously not. This just feeds into the idea that trans people for some reason are very eager to have children exposed to their lifestyle and fetishes.
  16. Actually it does because it draws attention away from the actual flag. The Pride flag is not inclusive. It is a political statement. Ask some veterans if they feel "included" by it.
  17. 1992, Bush was primaried by Pat Buchanan. 1980, Carter was primaried by Ted Kennedy 1976, Ford was primaried by Ronald Reagan 1968, LBJ was primaried by Eugene McCarthy
  18. Broken clock is right. We agree! I agree with your "alas" 100%. Seems the Democratic party is handcuffed. They need to pray that Trump wins the GOP nomination. To be honest I don't think Joe would stand a chance against one of the other possible candidates.
  19. I am dead serious. I think it would be better for everyone involved if both of the old dudes stepped aside. Certainly more interesting. But I guess Biden thinks he can just slip into the nomination with no challenge, and the party seems to agree, in spite of what rank and file Democrats think.
  20. Any other reason to explain Joe's reticence to participate in any kind of primary for the Democrats, especially given the polling that shows a majority of Democrats don't want him to run again?
  21. Polling at 20% is not a joke. That is higher than everyone in the GOP field except Trump and DeSantis, yet the remaining candidates are not jokes by any means. Yet what other credible candidates are there for the Democrats? Who could win a general election- Gov. Newsom? Maybe Sen. Kelly from Arizona
  22. Their identity was American, and soldier, and hero. How they chose to spend their free time was, and is, irrelevant.
  23. Convenient to say that. Of course if the Democratic party machinery doesn't give them a chance to get their message to the party members, their chances are slim. But that only shows how little confidence there is in Joe Biden as a candidate. If Jr and Williamson can scare Biden's handlers, how can he face a potential GOP candidate like Senator Scott or Vivek? He would be eviscerated.
  24. Businesses whose business model relies on breaking the law by hiring illegal workers and underpaying them deserve to go bankrupt. But if the playing field were leveled and all could compete in the labour market it would be better, and fairer as well. There is no such thing as a job "an American won't do". Americans do every job in the country already. There just need to be incentives to encourage more people to get off the sofa and get productive. There are millions of healthy adults in the country that are not in the work force for no discernable reason. That is a resource that needs to be tapped.
