  1. Not a punitive attitude at all. Just a recognition that having sex brings the possibility of becoming a parent. I would call that a responsible attitude and one that would hopefully encourage people to think before they bump ugly. Why would poor women have to travel farther? Not to mention this would be a great place for pro abortion charities to get involved, and collect the funds necessary to help those in need.
  2. Nope, on men too. Who do you think becomes a father, and/or generally pays child support after the baby is born?
  3. Fair enough, the legalities and ethics rules seem a bit convoluted and I dont want to risk looking even more foolish than usual by commenting on them. But the snide jabs inferring that Crow is some kind of secret Nazi because he is interested in history are irritating.
  4. For better or worse, gotta be impressed with a guy his age being able to do a seven hour deposition.
  5. You are right, and many pro life people would agree. However, political reality intrudes. Much like the gun issue, where a lot of anti gun people would rather there be zero guns in America. Most people see a compromise position somewhere in the middle. This bill allows abortions up to 15 weeks for rape and incest, and also for risk of life/substantial health risk of the mother. So it is not actually a ban. More an imposition of responsibility on people who choose to be sexually active.
  6. And so what. A rich guy has a collection of historical artifacts. He has a collection of thousands of books and manuscripts, one of which is Nazi. Again, so what? This does not signify approval or allegiance. He's a collector. I guess this means that Civil War battle re-enactors who take the part of Confederate troops are also racist bigots. Or anyone whose collection happens to have a picture of Mao or Castro is a communist. This is a very low smear.
  7. Yes it is unreasonable. Refugees are supposed to be seeking temporary refuge until they can return to their homeland. It is not a substitute for immigration. Generally, they flee trouble and are supposed to stop in the first safe country they enter. They are not to "shop around" for the best deal or be picky about where they temporarily are housed.
  8. Yet still you are driven to reply publicly. Interesting. Be honest. You love me like a bad habit.
  9. Moths to the flame.... what is it that grants Trump so much real estate in peoples' heads?
  10. Not to flog a dead election, but he never said to inject bleach. Read the transcript. He did move quickly to stop air travel from China at the beginning, which was loudly decried as racist by prominent Democrats like Nancy Pelosi. I also remember a certain President declaring, "if you get vaccinated, you won't catch Covid"...
  11. ...as defined by? Again, never going to happen in the US. They are too far gone in the hobby and sport and constitutional aspects of firearms. The juice ain't worth the squeeze.
  12. You pay your money, you take your chance. Get on a rickety boat with 300 people and you might drown. Don't count on the charity of others to rescue you, clothe you, and let you into their home.
  13. ...and this will never happen. Once you come to that realization perhaps you can think of some actual workable ideas on how to reduce gun violence.
  14. I agree that he shouldn't run again, but it has nothing to do with the indictments. I would rather see a younger and more palatable person in the White House. Really seems that fear is a big motivating factor amongst Democrats these days. They realized that they dodged a bullet in 2020, thanks to Covid. Absent the pandemic, Trump would have been re-elected easily.
  15. In other words, abortion up to birth. A radical position.
  16. Getting a bit side tracked, but no I do not support the gag rule or the restrictions on abortion drugs. I am moderate, like most people, up to 15 weeks is enough I think. Democratic politicians are unable to say with clarity their position. For example, "I do not support 3rd trimester abortions except when the woman's life is at risk". They fall back on vague generalities and platitudes. As for the platform, it says, "We believe unequivocally, like the majority of Americans, that every woman should be able to access high-quality reproductive health care services, including safe and legal abortion." Vague.
  17. The Democratic Party platform mentions no restrictions on abortion whatsoever, which is an extreme position when compared with where the public at large sits. https://democrats.org/where-we-stand/party-platform/achieving-universal-affordable-quality-health-care/
  18. ..and how easy is it to find a doctor who will certify such a vague judgement?
  19. Can you dig up the position of a Democratic member of Congress that does not feel that way? Because I have seen a number of interviews and they all use the facile euphemism "I support a woman's right to choose" without ever getting any pushback on what they actually mean in terms of what a cutoff day should be.
  20. Green New Deal Abortion on demand up to birth
  21. IMHO both parties have extreme wings that tend to suck a lot of the oxygen out of the room. Biden used to be a centrist, but the party has dragged him left and he is too weak to fight back much.
  22. In other words, trends continued. Gun homicides decreased, yet overall homicides did not, which suggests that those who used guns previously simply changed to other weapons to commit their crimes. Ditto with suicides. Lack of guns didn't stop the people who wanted to end their lives. If you look at the chart provided by Still Kicking up the page, the overall number of murders did not change at all for 5 or 6 years after the gun law was passed. It DID stop most mass killings, but did nothing substantial to reduce crime/murder overall. In other words, ineffective.
  23. Bombing the fentanyl factories and 'auditing' the cartel members would be a lot easier I think. Any other solutions?
  24. Well, she DOES like to work under older men, so maybe VP is the best job for her. She has no experience in leadership whatsoever, no discernible political philosophy, and is remarkably poor on the retail political level. Remember how successful she was in the 2020 Democratic primaries?
