I feel safe here in Thailand since 17 years. And I am happy not to live in violent Sweden or catholic Mexico where they found 10 new death victim in a car yesterday. All thai bashers may go over there, why not! I only avoid the roads here as much as possible but still takes trip om my MC. Lately 400 km to BKK and safe enough.

"Violent Sweden" haha are you joking? You realise Sweden got among the lowest murder rates in the world right?..

i feel safe in a "no go zone" in botkyrka sweden since I moved here from Thailand.. never been victim or know anyone been victim of crime.

as soon as violent news gets published here its almost as the news and the people commenting here say this only happens in Thailand, Thailand is the most violent in the world, so thai apologists has to act and say this happens everywhere, this European country is worse ????????

Quite a few posts about getting these American gun nuts out of Thailand.

First of all, he merely said he's "got lots of guns". Did they find these guns yet? How'd he get them into Thailand? Or, how's a guy with a teacher's salary go about buying them on the black market? I think it's more likely that many people, especially the mentally afflicted, spout off a lot of nonsense when in difficult situations.

Now, to address those deeply concerned about the gun nuts in Thailand. There was that guy in Korat. There was the school director who shot up the gold shop some months back. There's the guy here currently in the Thai Visa news, who shot his ex's new BF. And now currently on the One 31 news, the wife's hearing about a 16 year old loaded up on yaba, who went nuts on his family with a shotgun.

These people are all Thais. I believe the posters are in the wrong country, and looking at the wrong people, to be worrying about gun nuts.

I think it was that the 16 year old killed his father, the father apparently shot and killed family members and 16 year old shot the father dead, but the news could be updated, but when I red it, this was what happened.

The horrible news, the bloody murders, the rapes of children, the increasing levels of deaths on the roads, guns, fire, smog, corruption, begin to be the norm. I have got the impression that this the real daily life on the land of.....“SMILES”?.

If you have been here for some time you should know this has always been like this, except for korat shooting that was first of its kind.

You do realise thaivisanews and other English news in Thailand dont publish most of crimes and violence happening right?

And you think that that makes you qualified "to speak for most Thais"?!  It doesn't any more than it makes you qualified to speak for most Europeans!

I am 100% British but that doesn't put me in a position to be able to speak on behalf of most Britons, does it?

okey i aint speaking for, im sharing their thoughts, what many think.  but i guess you know more of thailand and what thais think than me like most farangs, well i just grew up here went to thai school and mostly only hang around thais what do i know of thailand and what thais think.

you must be fun at parties

Regardless of that uncorroborated assertion, it still does not mean that Thai society accepts that sort of thing.  A handful of individuals may but they are not representative of Thai society as a whole.

Ah sorry misunderstanding, of course it is not acceptable, but Thais could care less about these stuff because it is so wide spread and common, there is worse issues in the country that needs to be dealt with, and 9 ouf of 10 attacks or beatings people never intervene because mind your own business is the way to go here unfortunately, even if there is kids getting beaten, abused etc.

Sorry I get so confused sometimes English is my 3rd language.

Thai society does not accept that sort of thing as normal even though posters such as you claim that they do!

I just saw an video of teenagers and young adults mob attack 1 single drunk older male, he allegedly groped a woman, there was no evidence or nothing just video of mob attacking that single man, the person recording wrote what happened and the comment section was mixed some said it was right some disagreed but only that they did the beating too far.

police stood by and practically watched as they threw and hit bottles at him, kicked, stomped his head, used chairs to attack him, his face was covered with blood,

no news about it despite this was clearly attempted murder in many developed countries.

People dont intervene they value their life and health even the cops in this case I wrote.

I'm just curious I always see you make statements that most Thais would not agree with, are you exposed to the daily videos of brutal fights/attacks, shootings, stabbings? On social media and thai news? Brutal attacks and fights like this is everday life in isaan and especially during concerts and festivals, huge brawls.

This is absolute rubbish, I can walk through the busiest parts of Bangkok and Pattaya with no fear of being attacked, I am not saying it can't happen, but the odds are stacked against it, I could never walk about in Glasgow feeling safe.

So that makes Thailand a less violent country because you dont FEEL unsafe? No matter what people like you will always say Europe is worse no matter what.

You can easily search online on this subject.

I have been to London and never felt unsafe, neither in Thailand too but I'm not naive and stupid to assume all Thailand is safe and not violent and I read news in thai language everyday so I know what types of crimes occurring here... alot of shootings and stabbings over petty stuff and misunderstandings.

I'm sure you miss or dont pay attention to all the other violence that this site reports, last week or something a thai man did attempted murder on Norwegian over a taxi fare...

Have you ever been in Glasgow or London, or any big UK city? These things don't just happen in Thailand.

I was waiting for this comment/comments, he did not say this only happens in Thailand, no one else did either I think

You just felt like you had to defend thailand ????

Thailand is alot more violent than UK, and fights are far more deadlier and dangerous, everything not bolted to the ground is used against you, in Thailand a fight can be kill or be killed moment easy.

Rubbish and nonsense, have you ever been to Thailand!

Compare, violent crimes against Westerners in Thailand and violent crimes against westerners in say the UK.

haha what? UK is a western country is it strange if westerners are the majority of victims of crime aka british citizens ????????  locals are always 99% of victims in crime in all countries on earth. the logic of some people on TV is funny.

have you missed all the stabbings, shootings, attacks on foreign tourists through out the decades in thailand? or have you not been interested and or missed those news... and you only come out and comment to defend thailand with no knowledge at all like most farangs.

have you ever been to thailand lmao

I think the main focus of this particular topic and thread is DOMESTIC dispute (husband/wife, BG/GF) violence of the kind that occurred in the OP, not necessarily all the OTHER forms of killing and violence that occur here like the recent Korat mall shooting.

yeah sorry i just gave example of recent shootings and others that never ended up published here, so of course it may seem that news like this is new or on the rise, and as the guy i quoted said '' things arent necessarily worse just because you are finally paying attention and the news media has started actually reporting thes incidents''

Spot on, most shootings and other violent crimes does not get published here, only in thai language, that is fact, I read both thai and English thai news.

There was a shooting outside a temple in Bangkok some day ago, 2 injured, nothing posted about it here.

a man got beaten to death in a pub for accidently stepping on a women's shoe, her boyfriend and his group did it, nothing seen here.

Some days ago 2 defence volunteers shot dead and 1 injured in restaurant/bar shooting, the volunteers had threaten a massage owner saying he would shut down the massage store for good, he got denied when asked if the girls wanted to sit with them and drink so the owner called the local big gangster he shot them at first sight, nothing published here.

    And many many other cases.

Are you saying there have been public shootings all along, never reported?

no, most shootings and other crimes do not get published too thai visa news or Bangkok post, I often see in thai news about shootings and then come and check here for it, but most of the times it does not end up here or bangkok post, if it gets front page in thai news, it will get published here.

So it might seem for many that this is new or on the rise, but it has decreased alot.

I've seen such news all the years I've been reading both English and in thai news.

2 days ago there was a shooting outside buddha temple in bangkok 2 injured, nothing available on English and not shooting but a man dancing in a pub accident stepped on girls shoe, it ended with him being beaten to death by her boyfriend and his group I've seen nothing here or other sites.

public killing? not a desirable situation.

No of course, but it is a fact, this has always been going on, except the korat shooting, that was first of it's kind total random targets.

Also violence and shootings has gone down alot the past years, I've been reading thai news everyday for the past 6 or 7 years, before it was non stop in news shootings, stabbings etc all over Thailand, before villagechiefs was assassinated very often, now barely happens, or it did some week ago.

    Or the UK and Australia

Wait what does UK and Australia have to do with this? Just because I said this is not new in Thailand you just had to write that? Without anyone or me mentioning uk or aus?

Why is it that everytime someone writes something negative or slightly negative of Thailand, someone just has to pull a what aboutism or be a apologist.

Funny when UK has less than 50 gun murders and total 700 murders yearly and aus very low too, but Thailand have 3,000 only gun murders...

But keep living in your bubble.

True ''but'' this just does not happen here in Thailand, Europe USA etc but not here 2 incidents        in as many weeks  guy in Hungerford  many weeks, I can not believe it, being  brit I remember  gunman Michael Ryan went on the rampage in the small town of Hungerford. Sixteen people were killed and 15 more were seriously injured in what was the UK's worst mass shooting. Thirty years later, the events of that day are rarely discussed by those affected. It is known simply as 'The Tragedy'.

Good that you pointed out that mass shootings does not only happen in Thailand, or else no one would know thanks

why did you feel like writing that? No one here has said it only happens here, always in crime news there is some peopl just have to write "this happens everywhee" not only Thailand buhu, this is a page about Thailand, we are discussing crimes that occurred in Thailand.
