  1. Help please-doing my first visa run to Penang for Tourist Visa-been in LOS for 2 years and think that using a visa service expedites the process-found a service in Penang called NJBookcentre(seen before on Thai Visa) talked to the guy and he said I just give him my passport and he handles everything-not real comfortable giving up passport-does anybody know anything about this guy or about visa services in Penang? Is this SOP? Dont want to use cattle run service from Thai cuz I want to stay a few days and check the area out-sorry if this has been covered before but I've never seen anything about it-thanks for any advice-

  2. Ì hope, you don't think, I am a ladykiller: :o

    Girlfriend # 1:

We quarreled about money. I couldn't stand it anymore and left the room. After I came back to my apartment, she was gone. She took all her things, including toothbrush etc. so I knew, she'd never come back. End of relationship.

    Girlfriend # 2:

We stayed in Lamai, Koh Samui. She looked for work, could get a job in Chaweng (about 3 km away from Lamai). She moved to Chaweng, we talked every day on the phone. She was very busy, hadn't time for me - she said. When I insisted on a meeting (just 3 km!) she hang up the phone. Didn't call, turned off the phone and finally got a new cell phone number. End of relationship.

    Girlfriend # 3:

We agreed, that I pay the rent for her until I come back to BKK. It is not her apartment, it's ours we said. OK, everybody knows: For every money transfer, the bank keeps some money. What did I do? Two months ago I paid the rent for two months in advance.

Last time I talked to her on the phone, she asked me, whether I sent money to her account or not. No, I didn't, because I sent already a lot of money last month. Since then: silent modus, means: she doesn't call me, if I call her, she doesn't pick up. I called a friend of ours. The friend told me, my girlfriend is "angry" because I didn't send money this month. As far as I know Thai girls: Could be the end of relationship.

Now my question: Do Thai girls just walk out, because they don't have the balls to tell you, that they break up? Any experiences?

Consider yourself lucky it was so easy-usually takes a pry bar and police intervention to get 'em out-or maybe I just pick the crazies(and before anyone tees off on me no I did not meet them in a bar)

  3. Thank you both!

So Penang are still issuing single-entry 60 day extendable tourist visas, but have ceased issuing the multi ones. I'd misinterpreted the original post with that news I think.

I'm relieved. I'd avoided the 60 day visa and expenses involved in getting one before, but I'd happily (er...) pay for one and be prepared to clear off somewhere else if the mood took me after 30 days if it means that, potentially, I've got another 3 months covered.

I almost feel like celebrating. Shame I'm unlikely to find somewhere really banging in Nakhon Si Thammarat ;-)

  4. Thanks Sunbelt! Am I missing something or is it still not clear what happens if you already have 3 or more VOA's in your passport. Will we be turned away at the border on the next visa run after 1 Oct.?

Yes turned away unless you have a visa.

Oct 1 (as of now) does not mean the clock starts at zero. It starts the new policy on how many entries you already have in the past 6 months.

Just goto a Thai embasy/consulate overseas and get a single/double or triple entry. Easy. Then you can stay as a tourist for 3 months without having to leave. Every 3 months if on a single entry. Just go to another country and get another visa. Its not rocket science! Or am i wrong?

You are correct as long as you get the visa. The next directive of course will be to the Thai Consulates/Embassies and be something like this:

    VERY URGENT!

It has come to our attention a number of foreigners are working illegal in Thailand, we therefore will stipulate that you issue a visa only after you question the foreign applicant who has had a number of recent entries into Thailand. On the 1st of every month, we will require a report on which applicants who you issued a visa and who you denied.

This is just a SAMPLE but as they say the handwriting is on the wall.

Question-I've had too many entries so when my current stamp is up-Oct 2-I will be denied reentry-if I go to immigration on say Sept 29 will they still grant me my usual 15 day extension? As I said on another thread much thanks to you and George for sorting out fact and fiction-invaluable advice

  5. I wish to thank you for your replies....very kind!!!!

So...I think no more problem....for those in my same "position" all we have to do is to go to a Thai embassy and get a tourist visa...than 3 visa run are allowed...than get visa again and so on...

just little bit more expensive than before but nevermind....it will be an occasion for touring....Vientiane, Phnom Penh, Penang, Kota Bharu, Singapore, Hong Kong...it will be funny!!!!

Now....please DON"T make a crackdown on tourist visa too!!!!!! :o:D:D

Dont mean to be negative here but simply realistic:ending visa runs-ending investor visa-MoE crackdown on teacher qual(no BA no permit)-what news will tomorrow bring? Seems to be an organized attempt to boot farang-crackdown on tourist visa...??? You seem to have money so you got someplace to go...you really want to live in a host country that obviously doesnt want you?

  6. I read construction cost will be 5 billion baht-bar math is 1.2 billion usd-quote from the developer is expected sales of 200 million usd-left me a bit confused.....??? How are we making money here?

Why not check your maths again why not?

    Embarressed and apologetic I am

  7. I read construction cost will be 5 billion baht-bar math is 1.2 billion usd-quote from the developer is expected sales of 200 million usd-left me a bit confused.....??? How are we making money here?

  8. Just moved into a house with a nice big area that we don't use. Obviously don't want to fill it up with in-laws, so I was thinking about a pool table.

Anyone know how much a half decent one costs? Secondhand would be ok.

Dont know about used for sure-met a guy who works as salesman for Soveriegn tables-9' pro tournament is 165k-8' pro is 120k-8' "bargrade" is 68k-new tables quoted in Pattaya

  9. How ever, they eat like birds

Eat like birds!!!??? Yeah like a terydachal maybe...

    Pterodactyl :D

(I had to look it up) :D

Yeah, when they do eat, they can be voracious. It does seem though, that they tend to eat a little, a lot (many times a day, but small amounts each time). :o

Always seem to be hungry though. :D

What that does for their, uh, toilet routine, I don't want to know. I don't think they'll calculate that into the design of this giant building though.

Here is the artists rendition of the Jomtien skyline with this proposed building:

    post-16137-1155009914_thumb.jpg

Ought to be able to see that from a long ways away, as you enter Pattaya from any direction.

thanks for the spelling lesson-I tried to look it up but the online dict wouldn't cooperate-and we live in the land of phonetics anyway-as far as the tower goes what a dumbass out of place ill conceived infrastucture challenged greed driven...did I mention dumbassed already? Nice design-wrong place-try BKK next time

  10. Well dude, if your happy marryin a girl who has probably slept with hundreds of guys, that's your business, but you can't honestly tell me there are no pitfalls with that.

But even if you marry a non bg from any country, how do you know she isnt a slapper that has slept with hundreds of blokes, and probably without protection as well :o

Dude-your avatar reminds me of my ex-wife (on a good day)

  11. Here's serious suggestion. This would work in Pattaya, and it might work in other places like Phuket, and Koh Samui.

Set up a company with English speaking staff who can provide 24/7 assistance to farang home owners/renters who need electricians, plumbers, and other house maintenance people. I reckon if the service was good, and the workers knew their stuff, then you could charge quite high rates and clean up. There is a huge demand for this kind of thing in Pattaya.

But it would have to be a very good, professional service.

Funny you should say that-very seriously considered it cuz I was a contractor in the states-problematic is the quality and dependability of local workers-the construction standards here are-to be generous-sub standard-customer satisfaction would be a bitch-absolutely right about demand though

  12. Having a beer with my mate last night and we started talking about what street food has the biggest profit margins?

I personally think Noodles and those Pork Balls, he thinks Fruit.

    Your opinions?

The street meat on soi nana. A couple of thousand baht per serving + it is reusable. :o

Yeah-ya got it-ya sell it-and ya still got it
