With that amount of tourists what is Phuket complaining about.

They are complainig. BECAUSE THAT IS HOW IT USED TO BE.     (old picture, probably from before the Chinese)

You can bet that is an old picture and the tourism Dept. is trying 'feebly', to use it to Make non thinkers that those people are still coming.   LOL

Enjoying the luxury of business class seats on an 11-hour flight back to Auckland was meant to be a treat for Renell and Tere after undergoing weight-loss surgery in the city of Bangkok.

They were on their way back to Aukland. That means that they already flew one-way to Bangkok. Most likely had a round-trip ticket so most likely flew with THAI. HOW CAN THAI BRING THEM HERE BUT CAN'T TAKE THEM BACK???

One possibility is they flew to BKK buying 2 seats in Economy each and once here decided that one 'Business' seat was about same price as 2 'Coach' seats. So maybe they paid to upgrade their tickrts for the return flight.

I know that anyone fleeing violence and poverty does so because they have reached such a point of despair that they would rather face the dangers involved in leaving their homeland than stay.

Such people should be helped and welcomed, not sending back to the misery they fled.

Let us hope that you one day face the same choices, it may help you develop some empathy.

"I know that anyone fleeing violence and poverty does so because"   YOU CLAIMED.

HOW DO YOU KNOW???? I live there among them in California. YOU are just guessing, without a bit of real knowledge..... Just let the USA and Mexico work it out. THEY know a bit more what is happening than YOU who is just reading the post and 'GUESSING'.

Why the confused Emoji to my post

I spelled it out clearly, I thought. if you are just looking for a fight (we did that before),, then cool off.     If I CAN EXPLAIN MORE ...... Please just ask.....

I would not turn away those fleeing violence or levels of poverty that cause such desperation that people flee their homeland, nor would I expect to be turned away if I was doing the same.

Do you seriously believe people would expose themselves to such terrible dangers and the perils of dealing with human trafficking scum if they truly had no other choice?

And I suppose you (as a country) would allow just about anybody who 'claimed' violence and abuse (Assylum)  to just walk in freely???????? how do you verify this --- other than them just seeking a richer way of life (at other's expense).   HAVE YOU been there among them to know 'ANYTHING' about what you talk??????

“we have done our best”, says Thai health minister

Followed by: So now we plan to just 'kick back and relax' and enjoy all the money we have collected thru graft over the years --- WE ARE HiSo PEOPLE WITH MONEY --- who cares about the rest..... (Just keep those Chinese spenders coming --- we want their money)

I think that is what we would hear if they 'accidently' spoke truthfully.

  7. I didn't see anywhere about your Thai Wife (Already) having a visa to get into the USA.....

If she already has her Visa, then no problem.

IF SHE DOESN'T HAVE ---then do that before booking your flights.... Many tickets are Non-Refundable or other cases cancelling will cost a big portion of your ticket cost. The US Embassy can be a nightmare for Thais getting a Visa, in SOME cases.  Don't just assume that because you are married that she can go to the USA, She most likely CAN GO, BUT there may be a few time consuming 'requirements' to 'wade thru'.

I'm just offering this..... 'Just in case'

He was fined for posting threats that could cause the public to be scared.

I can just imagine the fine....... POPCORN.... And then he would have been free to do it..... Except they accidently stumbled upon his 'desertion' status, so now he will be returned to the army, smashed up a little then when he gets free in a few years..... Terminal 21 will likely still be around.

I just asked the Thai gf a rhetorical Q.

"Why don't Thai close the flights from China" Her reply.."Why you so un clever the government want money"

I like your post, It is novel and cute and a typical 'Thai girl response' and on topic.

I can't imagine why you got a 'SAD' Emoji from it UNLESS you had given the same 'SAD' to that guy and he was just getting even. The way somebody did me with 3 'SADs' a week or so.

I kinda see the situation same as the girlfriend. It is only the Health department assisting the gov't to struggle to keep the money coming and willing to sacrafice their people for some money. So many countries have shunned them but since Thailand wants to 'snuggle up' to china they will risk their own people.

buy a return ticket and then change the return date, i've had to do that for unexpected reasons a couple of times, it usually cost me 70GBP - 90GBP, research which airline has the cheapest return flight changing costs and fly with them. easy.

Yes.... In the largest percentage of cases it will be much cheaper to buy a round-trip ticket and pay a fee to change the return date.... than to pay 2 one-way ticket prices added together.

Another money-saver caution: Often airlines have a cheap ticket for under 90 days. If you buy that ticket then extend your stay beyoud 90 days, when you change your return date -- You will pay not only the change fee but an additional add-on fee for the next level higher ticket. Same situation occurs if you paid the price for weekday flight but request a week-end day for your return, you likely will pay an add-on fee as well.

I'd like to suggest when you are changing a ticket to ask your reservationist about any dates that are 'cheaper to change to' when making your change. Just a day or two earlier/later could be a big difference in price.

BOTTOMLINE.... Get familiar right away and compare prices of 2 one-ways vs. 1 round-trip (at least Internationally) NOT ALWAYS, but in the largest percentage of cases a round-trip ticket with 'large change fees' WILL STILL BE CHEAPEST.

DO THE MATH.  Very likely you can save money.

" But those who are feeling sick, who have been with sick people or who have been in an infected area should wear masks.  "

So when did they release the news what areas in Thailand are infected?

AND all his co-harts in the Thai gov't keep saying that they will make masks and hand sanitizers available........ AND 'THEY' HAVEN'T DONE THAT EITHER.  I've gone to dozens of stores/pharmacies looking and they all say..  "SORRY, Out-of-Stock.  Thai govt ---- LOL    They can talk up a storm but can't do anything.    (Nothing --- ONLY TALK)

Ah Ken are you accusing me of justifying the arrest of this woman?I think I would like you to substantiate your baseless accusation please as the poster asked if she made it up and I supplied a quote in an attempt to answer his query,no mention did I make of justification of anything.Maybe you could follow your own advice and search further to substantiate you claim.I also don't recall you asking you any questions in relation to this matter.

    Thank you for the clarification.

But pleas do look at my post,    as I quoted it...     and try to see how your reply could have been 'intrepeded' as suggesting that "since the Thai cops arrested her" that meant she was guilty.

Please don't take this as a personal assult, but look it a bit closer to see how I intrepeted it that way.     Very sorry for any harm done but please try to understand my reasoning.  The Thai cops are worthless robots working for a corrupt government.   I have known and loved Thailand for 40 years.   Only the past 5 years have I seen this sort of thing happening, Under the present regime.

  13. I live in California and we have a lot of Mexican/Central Americans.    With reference to THEM being my neighbors I must say that . at least, They are 80-90% good workers and good neighbors.

My ONLY problem, IN THE USA, Is that I don't want more muslims trying to shove 'shira law' down my throat. KEEP THEM OUT.

But Latins.... Let them in.   Once they have criminal records - Then deport them.

Latin majorities I FAVOR.  Much better than many 'US Citizen couch potatoes' living off of us US tax paying citizens.        "Percentage-wise."   ---    Latins are good for us ---- muslims are NOT.

    Does that answer your question?

    NO, not at all.

You Must have an awful lot of 'BLIND TRUST' in the cops here if you think that the cops arresting her 'REALLY' means she did it (something wrong).    This is where the cops arrest you for money.    Not because you did something wrong.

I suggest you search further for something to justify arresting this woman.    LOL.

Sad day for Thailand. In my day it was called gossip accepted and ignored or taken with a pinch of salt. Cracking the whip over the people so sad.

Yes gossip.     For ALL FREE COUNTRIES.    But don't forget where you are !!!!!

If this isn't Communist Russia of the past    OR Communist China more recently    OR a Communist Military regime      THEN YOU MUST PROVE IT TO ME.

Sure, here's a factual answer, personal experience of a Thai prison.  The LBs, 5 or 6 of them, were in the same communal room/cell as I and a number of other normal prisoners were.  And before being returned to the cell in the afternoon each day, everyone lined up to be checked over by a prison officer in just shorts, no shirts, to ensure nothing illicit was being taken to the cell overnight, that included the LBs, boobs or no boobs.  After the checking they could  put the shirt on again.

Thanks 'Just Wierd'. I find your opinion is backed up with your personal knowledge. Therefore I feel that I can believe it. AND i was sincerely curious and was really hoping to know, just to satisfy my curiosity. I have been around Thailand over 40 years and I know that the police here do not always conform to 'worldwide accepted' standards.

on the forun you will routinely see posters who have posted 'unfounded opinions', so I am hesitant to believe some posts but if a topic stirs up my curiosity, then I'd like to learn more and that was my intent when responding to your post. I was hoping somebody would come back with something believable and founded. I found your reply believable. Thanks.

AND THANKS TO "THAIWRATH" FOR HIS NEGATIVE "SAD' EMOJIs on BOTH of my posts.

    Because they're men, male prison.

Can you specify a source for your comment info?

I sincerely Question up to 'what point' they are considered and ??? ARE THEY BY THE RTP???? and Thai courts.  as I have heard the Thais and their Gov't recognize a 'third gender'

In 40 years I have 'NEVER' had a ladyboy walk into a men's restroom that I have been in.  Have any other posters????

I'm sincerely curious about this now after reading this post and I'd like to know a 'factual answer'

    Thanks
