  1. Its because you lived in thailand in the past, so they are wary on why you come so much now. Its a bit overkill imo but not our call. I would take a break for for 6 months, then keep your visits short and spread out in the future.
  2. Thanks John I went with a rebuild. I was thinking maybe second hand engine but hard to find a decent 2005 nowadays. Everything is just so ragged out and beaten on. Rebuild is basically the only thing i can trust to go another 300k
  3. Engine shaking pretty bad, low power, injectors gummed up, turbo not working. I am not really sure but , its a very good diesel mechanic and he suggested to remove the motor and completely rebuild it.
  4. I am considering rebuilding my 2005 3.0 4JJ1 Dmax, complete engine rebuild. Pistons, rings, bearings, replacing all internal parts, gaskets etc and also 4 injectors. My turbo is ok just a rebuild kit for it. I was quoted approximately 60,000 baht. Is this a good price and do you think its worth it? Truck is a manual and has 273k on it and is in good shape otherwise.
  5. I am currently in a short term rental in bangkok and bought a used car that is bangkok registered. But I am living in chiang mai. I was planning to drive the car right away from bangkok to chiang mai and register it there. But the owner insists i must register in bangkok before going, he is worried something could happen on the way to cm. I guess i can register in bangkok if i have to but if i use my chiang mai address can i get chiang mai plates or i have to use my current bangkok address and get bangkok plates?
  6. 1. They have your full lifetime entry and exit history on the computer. It was reported but not confirmed that 6 lifetime visa exempt entries provides some alert on the computer. But I would say its more up to the discretion of the officer, if they think you are not a genuine tourist they will question you further. And lets face it 8 months holiday is not a tourist. 2. I would definitely not gamble with another visa exempt by air. You were lucky to get in with 8 months under your belt. Chiang Mai was safer in the past, but they seem to be more on the same page nowadays, not really worth it. Land crossing should be safer than air, but its a bit more shaky now. In the past you could always get 2 land entries per year. But recently they have started treating them like airports removing this stated limit. So its up the discretion of the officer. Its very early days with this so nobody can really tell you for sure. 3. A month off is not enough to feel safe, you would still face the same scrutiny on arrival. You would need 6 months outside thailand to really reset yourself. Tourist Visa should be granted because you have never even had one before. But be advised you can still face the same scrutiny on arrival with a tourist visa, some have even been denied entry with one but its rare. 4. Not really any other ways if you have a tight budget like this.
  7. I am traveling to bangkok to sell a car and will stay in a hotel there so new tm30. The car is registered in chiang mai. When i fill out the forms to sell the car , do I put the chiang mai address or my bangkok hotel address?
  8. The evidence says pot contains plant toxins as well as heavy metal toxins. There is literally zero use for it. It harms your long term health in all cases. Not to mention the toxic smoke it creates.
  9. First off, that stamp is not a visa. A tourist visa has to be obtained before entering thailand. This has been happening for many years regardless of nationality. Thailand does not look kindly at people who enter frequently using no visa. As absurd as that may seem, thats how it is here. Very different from Philippines where a tourist can just come and stay as long as they want basically. As far as the 60 day thing, it has not officially come into effect, anything your reading about that is just speculation at this point.
  10. Your not up to date with the current climate. I speak from first hand experience .
  11. So advise a person to do something knowing it will likely end in failure? Thats horrible. Some of us have been doing this many years and can possibly save someone the hassle of denied entry.
  12. Not a good idea, chiang mai immigration does not like frequent visitors to use visa exempt entries.
  13. At this time, the government has announced that the visa will only be available from June 2025. A year to come up with the requirements.
  14. Well its 10k, plus extension is supposed to be 10k. Thats 20k for a year. And also I'm assuming they will not let people live in the country indefinitely on this visa as its essentially a tourist visa. Probably a one and done scenario then you have to wait a year to comeback.
  15. We dont know for sure, nothing has been published in the royal gazette. Last time they talked about this they ended up only giving 60 days to Russia. So we have to wait and see, they might say for example only China, Cambodia, Laos get 60.
