  1. why offer an inducement when it is a paid for service!
  2. ...i bet the driver had his hand firmly on his stick-shift, changing up and down vigorously. Looks like a SongTaew to me!
  3. the alleged driver is a teacher herself and should know there would be children at/on/near the school she was passing. Just look at the damage to her vehicle and the 'stopping distance from the point of impact' (i would guess 50 metres), making her speed at about 80kmph. The whole purpose of a Pedestrian Crossings livery is to give contrast to moving persons against the grey road surface. There is no excuse IMO.
  4. the Thai Road Traffic Act, 1979 says differently.
  5. Regardless of the clearly painted Pedestrian Crossing with signage; what is any driver doing not allowing a pedestrian who is standing in the middle of the road to safely cross. RIP little one.
  6. someone needs to remind Chiang Mai City Council of the developing threat of H5N1 Avian Inluenza and its devestating effects on humans.
  7. they will mow you down regardless of the broad white stripes!
  8. (The majority of Thais regard The Land Traffic Act as purely guidelines).
  9. Dear RTP...of course there were 150,000+ offences that you counted, in fact there were probably 100X this number, as you will find as you venture tentatively into the world of moving traffic that we motorists/pedestrians have to negotiate each and every day! Once you do get the hang of it you will find peace and safety will spread throughout the Kingdom and people will begin to put their trust back in you and appreciate you. Happy New Year everyone.
  10. you need to focus on the adult of the species then!
  11. I've heard the rare Double-breasted Matress Thrasher has made sporadic appearances in most seaside townships.
  12. Note to self. Don't walk around the garden late at night naked.
  13. a Yellow-necked Insulator. Non venomous. (so says a Thai Facebook page).
  14. obviously you have never found or had to deal with such events.
  15. depending on one's stature, can quite easily cuff at the front and step through; however the photo shows it to be more of a full body plastic bag that is either taped, folded or tied.
  16. yes, prior to a certain year they had an expiry date, but when the compulsory attendance of the Poo Yaibaan it changed to Lifetime...once again this was in Amphur Sankamphaeng.
  17. Im not going to comment any further..seems to be each Provincial Amphur Office has a different view on this..all i know is it works for me and my Pink Card and Yellow Book are for life. I also have an Usufruct, Proof of Ownership of my house on the land it rests, my name appears in the property owners Blue Book and i have a TRD Tax number which happens to be my Pink ID Card, and i am not married, nor am I a Permanent Resident.
  18. hey 'thumbs down' is this meant for me or the confusion about Pink ID Cards and Yellow Tabien Baans ?
  19. i understood your name has to first appear in the Property owner's Blue TabienBaan to enable the Yellow Book to be granted, Later to get a Pink Card i needed to co-ordinate with the Property owner and their Blue Book, the PooYaiBaan (Village Headman), me with Yellow book, Passport and on appointmentwho go in a group to the Amphur Office (Sankamphaeng) where they vouched i was indeed a permanent resident in his sub-district. The card was issued shortly after, the fee was 110 baht. Later i supplied a photocopy with other documents to prove my address at Immigration, who accepted the Yellow Book as proof of Residency but did not recognize the Pink Card as acceptable identification. That was 5 years ago. I am single.
