It is interesting to note that since the virus actually took hold in the UK the optimism that the authorities and the government were doing a good job has now evaporated. Many critics of the government and health service were on Sky today venting. Several said the response in China and Korea were models that the UK should follow - and the fact that they were not will come back to haunt them.

Liverpool missing out would be perfect karma for getting everyone else banned from Europe because of their rioting Scousers in the 80s. And Leeds not getting promoted would likewise be perfect karma for kicking everybody for decades.

yes but where are all the sick Thais? no overwhelmed hospitals here at all. no reports of lines of people at hospitals. nothing at all on facebook.
ask your Thai partner where are the sick people. "No have. Thai people strong."
I really love your new avatar...dare I ask where you got those panties?

That's because the GBP fell heavily against the dollar. The baht also weakened against the dollar but not nearly as much.
Yes, I see.
Trump for next president has eased in betting markets and you can invest on Liverpool to win the EPL again.

At the moment in relation to the pound it is 39.8 on Superrich. If anything the baht has strengthened in the last few days against that currency.

Speaks volumes, who closes a hospital for a deep clean after a death, for no good reason?
They didn't close it or clean it. What part of the story that said that is all fake news is hard to grasp?

Just think like this. Thailand was from start pointed out to be the most vulnerable country outside China, due to it´s big connection with China.
After that it is suddenly more people that are dying in a lot of other countries more far away and with much smaller connection to Chinese people. Doesn´t that make you wonder?People are just making things up that, for one reason or another, they are desperate to believe. There are well documented reasons why infection rates in Thailand may be low. These include good public health measures, good responses from the public, and possibly a favorable climate. There could be a cover up, but I don't see why or how they would benefit from this seeing as tourism is already decimated. There may be more infections to come but I prefer not to speculate or "wonder" as others are doing.

You probably believe the last election results, Prawit's watch story and the heroin dealer's complete and utter unadulterated bollðcks!
If you read my Sunday column you will see I am one of the most outspoken and critical writers on the issues you mention. When it comes to the virus, however, I try not to panic and generally accept what the Thais are doing and reporting. I don't actually see what they have to gain from misreporting the details.
If that is naive then so be it. At least it isn't Thai bashing.

Tracy Daszkiewicz, Director of Public Health for Wiltshire Council, said: "I can confirm that a fourth adult in Wiltshire has tested positive for coronavirus after returning from a trip to Thailand, and they have self-isolated. This means we still only have four cases of coronavirus in Wiltshire.

Two new cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed in Queensland.
The first case is an 81-year-old male who is in a stable condition in the Sunshine Coast University Hospital. He has recently returned from Thailand.
Remind me again - how many cases here ...
50, or thereabouts. If you have other information please post a link.

Bangkok continues to improve apace.
So many upcountry bashers on the forum just can't understand why we get all the goodies. We work and provide GDP while much of the countryside sits on its rear ends, drinking and moaning.

Is that because the capital value of the bond has increased?
We all like money, that's a statement of the obvious.
I don't really understand it. I saw on sky that there was a historic moment in the value of bonds. I thought yikes, they have gone through the floor. Roof more like.
Time for more champers.
Conversely my daughter in Canary Wharf said she has lost 600,000 baht in the last month. That's her money. She is an equities trader and was in La Paz on holiday on Monday trying to ignore the markets.

Why? Last time I looked, bond yields were less than the inflation rate. Or are you turning cartwheels because your bonds have not lost value?
No because I'm making loads of money. I like money.

That's nothing. I coughed in SCB this morning to get the attention of the woman behind the counter.
The bank had shut down it's operations by 3pm and I was in quarantine.
Thank goodness there was no panic.

There was a young Arab lived close to our place in Saudi Arabia with a red Mustang. (or something like that) and he'd had the well known phrase 'Born to be Wild' stuck across the rear. Unfortunately, whoever stuck the letters on placed the 'W' upside down. We always had a good giggle whenever we saw it.
I had an idiot headmaster who was called Wilf. We had fun too on several displays...
