If you read my post before typing you would have seen D.N.A. which at the time of the crime you refer to was not known about.
We know of all the innocents that were hanged. But this is here and now with sceintific backing , which has come a long way since Timothy Evans in 1950
I saw your reference to DNA. There are still many cases even with DNA evidence that are not the 100% certainties that you refer to. Though I agree that the science is exceptional, such evidence can still be fabricated and a clever lawyer can still get the guilty off by proving that strict procedural rules were not followed.

My vote for ladyboys pronoun is definitely 'He'.

and totally agree with you about dogs. Perhaps if all the medical care given to ladyboy treatments was focused on dogs we could cut down on the numbers?
I tend to agree with he....especially as they don't usually
have a hee.

As do I...
Rooster is just so british in his writing, it's great, love it...
Ha.
Try as they might, in 35 years the Thais have never quite beaten the British out of me. But they get used to it.
Mrs R knew something was up this morning with the resigned and glum face.
"Harry is injured isn't he?" improved my mood a tad.

Remember it well; we even had the legendary tin bath in front of the fire for the first few years of my life, the family taking it in turns to use the water.
Even in later years I remember my girlfriend telling her father, who was a painter and decorator, that he was looking rather dirty after completing a job. Her mother took umbrage at this comment; "Dirty, he's not dirty. I make sure he has a bath once a week whether he needs it or not!"
Good read this week BTW
Thank you.
Yes, my brother and I shared the bath water as I recall. The sisters had what they referred to as their hair washing night when they didn't go out. Growing up with such things meant that arriving in Thailand was something of a revelation!
Cheers for reading.

I would say the reason was that this guy is a serious sicko and by. shooting the child the attention went that way and made it easier for him to escape.
Up the reward to 1 million BHT some one knows this guy and the bike he was on, also he looks to be able to handle a weapon so he may well be ex police or army.
Who ever he is, he is hiding now maybe across a border and someone will know him, uping the reward is the best way to catch this scumbag, I still think the BIB will get him.
He'll be nearby, probably still in Lopburi and be in custody or shot by Monday. Tuesday at the latest. The police are pulling out all the stops on this one, and rightly so.

Shame there isn't a similar stiff penalty for corruption, which affects virtually everyone!
But it seems in that case the individuals who are the worst offenders are the most protected.
Didn't the death penalty come in for billion baht corruption....or was it just mooted?

The death penalty is only applied by countries with 3rd-world populations. It is a social sanction which much better fits the animal kingdom that those which like to think of themselves as human.
Just my opinion.
Please define third world population, I am curious.

In this day and age , the death penalty should be administered if the proof is 100%.....DNA etc.
I don't know why people think the death sentence is a deterrent .
It is a punishment.
deterrent
Timothy Evans was 100% guilty.....respected and trusted pillar of the street policeman Christie said so.

A perfectly reasonable explanation for this accident might be that the minivan was tailgating another vehicle that realized just in time that they had to swerve to miss the stationary truck. They then had no time to react. A similar thing happened to me riding a bike years ago. I just managed to avoid leaving the nippers as orphans.

As I said in a previous thread most Thai people on social media believe it is a foreigner not a Thai person due to his build and 'the way he walks', many people said Thai criminals or robbers would never do a crime like this...
Let's just hope the police aren't as silly as the general population and can catch the Thai criminal as quickly as possible.
Hello there.

Lol...I'm going to cycle alone around 2500km in India and Bangladesh. Life would be interesting.
I envy you and given sensible precautions I expect you will have a wonderful trip. I remember all my varied experiences in India like they were yesterday. I am put off going these days because of the visa requirements. Seven times I have played in the country's biggest Scrabble tournament in Bangalore that is taking place this week, but I didn't travel this year. For years I stayed there with an Indian vet who I met because I am a couch-surfer. You could try that on your bicycle trip....it is a wonderful way to meet brilliant Indian people.

I had a bunch of stuff I bought at places in backseat of his car. I told him "hey you didn't lock the doors" he said no problem nobody take and they didn't. I told him if back in USA the packages and maybe even car be gone.
Now with fewer sexpats and less income they take to robbery/asaults.
So not true.
Thailand has always been bedeviled by violent crime. It was in the 1980s when I arrived (and learned Thai by reading crime magazines) and still is. The only thing I would say is that due to the prevalence of social media and CCTV it APPEARS to be increasing. I would be perfectly prepared - like in most parts of the world - to believe that the incidence of violent crime has in fact dropped in Thailand.
It is hard for some people to accept because of the pervasiveness of social media and in your face news, but the world is probably a safer place that the one of my childhood. Also here in Thailand many violent crimes are solved very quickly.
All of that takes nothing away from the horrendous nature of this crime. Good luck to the police and I expect an arrest before the end of the weekend. The perp is a very dangerous person. It could be that the explanation for using the silencer and the fact that he stole relatively little for the amount of violence used, that murder of one of the victims might have been his main motive.

I love Ricky and I love nearly everything he's done. Some of the episodes of Extras are right up there with the best comedy of all time. Binge watching Afterlife was one of the highlights of 2019. But this was a bit too bitter for my liking for an occasion like this. Cutting yes, scathing perhaps but I'd rather lol than relish the celebs feeling that awkward.

If he hasn't done already Surachate urgently needs to seek personal protection.
And it may be just as well NOT to ask the police to provide it.

Are you speaking from experience? What safety issues have you had there? Just asking as I'll be spending quite a bit of time there and haven't heard of any problems.
I have been there about twenty times. Not spent a great deal of time there in the great scheme of things - perhaps 6-8 months. But nearly all the close shaves, threats to my safety, thefts and er ...how can I put it....serious stomach problems occurred there. The roads make Thailand look organized and the arguments in the street are widespread. That said I love it to bits and would say that if you have never been to India you haven't lived.
Just don't go there and expect to live if you don't take the utmost care.
I am also one that finds the racism on Thaivisa directed against Indians intolerable at times.

Introduce your Dear Lady to potatoes!
My Mrs had never even tasted a potato in her 50 odd years of existence, and she would look at them in the supermarket in the same way that I would look at Pampers nappies - it's something other people would buy.
Now she loves them and has spuds with everything. Tom Yum Goong with baked potatoes, Pad Thai with baked potatoes, Pizza with baked potatoes.....
Educate her Mr Rooster, educate her ????
Believe me I did. She took to potatoes like a duck to water - sometimes I am concerned that this will lead to a potato shortage in Thailand. On the plus side she cooks a mean roast potato.
Despite being slip her stomach seems like a bottomless pit when it comes to all forms of vegetation and animal.

Rice farming is unsustainable and clearly all Thais should stop eating it and switch to something else.
I mentioned this to Mrs Rooster.
Anyone know of a good hospital where I can get my boxed ears sorted out?

Yes, Charoen bought out the Casino stake at 58%. The founders were Central and are reportedly still involved hence the investigation by the authorities into potential monopolies. It may not be cut and dried but there is a case to answer or at least explain should Tesco be purchased by Central. I based my comments on these understandings.
