That's a real shame, I was just last week looking again at his best work, Kevin Turvey (investigates) & The Man Behind the Green Door

You see I don't have a problem with fining, arresting or detaining those who break the traffic laws. The road blocks to nick those motorbike riders without licenses or helmets is full justifiable because it is directly related to saving their lives or those of others. To me one of the golden opportunities the law seems to miss is to penalise those who drive at night with faulty lights. They have the full gambit of offenders to choose from.If this is a sincere attempt to improve the reputation and effectiveness of the police then it can only be a good thing.

It's at least reassuring that over the years, with thousands of man hours and millions of dollars invested on R&D by the boffins at Curtin University, Perth, those culminate efforts have resulted in the miraculous technical advance and aid to mankind of a machine that can detect "a dull oomph!"Priceless!

Since moving to Isaan have you now found yourself unavoidably mimicking the indigenous folk in one way or another? This is not to be taken as an Isaan slagging whinge, moan and bitch opportunity! Just a shared smile to ourselves. These are the traits I have assimilated after a full time residency of 8 months so far.- Jumping red lights on my bike: (at lesser junctions only and at night)- Find a shady spot while waiting for the lights to change during the day,- Sucking & picking my teeth after a meal with some self fashioned foliage type implement! (Darwin would be proud)- Diet is now full Isaan fare, but I avoid the munchy crunchy content such as knuckles, feet, heads & chewy type spare parts. (I genuinely enjoying the taste variety)- Shower 3 times a day- Enjoy Archa beer- Hate having to visit BKK for whatever reason

Had a dinner meeting in BKK arranged once with a Thai friend.I arrived at the venue slightly ahead of time and got settled, ordered a beer and some nibbles knowing very well this Thai trait regarding punctuality.30 minutes pass and he calls to inform me traffic is bad, will be another 30 mins.30 mins later he calls again, "nearly there, crazy traffic, dunno whats happening, about 10 mins more!"I call him back 30 mins later...phone closed.I call again after 10 more mins....phone still closedI pay the bill and go home.Turns out he was in Chiang Mai when he spoke to me, but could not bring himself to tell me earlier that day that our appointment needed to be rescheduled. He was happy to spin some yarn until the 'loss of face' was too much to bear, then he turned off his phone!Truly amazing. Still shake my head trying to work that one out to this day. Said event took place 17 years ago.

There are large battery chicken farms that predominantly supply KFC in that province. Statistically Udon Thani consumes the most KFC per head in Thailand within age group 10-15 years old. They have noticed of late an increase in height and sexual anomalies develop in both girls and boys. Girls during this pre pubescent stage are becoming fuller and boys more effeminate.KFC also have an R&D facility in Udon Thani. They state that the steroids they lace the chicken feed with enables the chicks to mature 3 times faster then with standard feed. They are aware of the effects and to counter this they state that they have 'cloned a chicken with 4 legs! This will reduce the amount of feed steroids needed'When asked how does the new species of 4 legged chicken taste? The PR persons answered "We don't know?......no one has been able to catch to yet!"

"This system underwent a trial four years ago in nine Bangkok police precincts involving 15 units. Battery life was found to be too short and the font on the tickets were too small, but those problems have been fixed"
or
"Couldn't find a way to override the system so as to manipulate 'tea money subscription', took us a while but that's been sorted, so we keen to launch"

Kerry demanding Snowden to 'Man up', thats ****ing rich!In case Kerry as forgotten , the reason he is a politician (as with all politicians, anywhere & everywhere) is because his only worldly talents he poccesses are to cheat, lie, manipulate, deceive, swindle, etc...So, Snowden at least has a conscience which sadly has put him in this pickle. Therefore Kerry, the d**kless megalomaniac can only resort to name calling when confronted with someone with integrity.-

I think if you're really intent on worrying about something, you might want to question the risks attributed to hormone and steroid used to saturate meat/fish/poultry livestock available at the supermarket or fast food franchise outlet across the land.At least there is a good chance some authority is actively removing any fish that sets a geiger counter off into a clicking frenzy! And then there's the fruit and veg available here, liberally enhanced and coated with nasty'sSo, eat and be merry at Fuji...no risk, no fun!

*Don't take too seriously the following. Just a topic of political interest that's juicy for a changeBeen observing what's been brewing over the past months with regards to UK Politics, and although I do not agree with everything UKip stand for, it's been great to (i)see the post-mortem in the UK press today after Thursdays local by-election and (ii)monumental blunders/ignorance/assumption by the other party leader, especially Ed Milliband leading up to this event. Would love to see Millibands spin doctor rip into him (bring it Malcolm Tucker)Like Thai politics, the UK needs a Biblical type mass extinction of the established political <deleted>> wits.Kinda hope Ukip win the General Election next year. Gotta be worth 1 innings just to shake things up in UK politics!

Having previously lived and worked in Thailand on a Non B and Work Permit, I decided end of last year to cut loose from the rat race and just take it easy for a while.I have the funds to support myself and now slowly plan to resume full time employment at some juncture. Here in Thailand or elsewhere, not sure yet? But I am in no rush! This current fiasco as explained by the OP leaves me also very concerned about my next planned Tourist Visa run. It will be my 4th in 8 months.I do not have property here, but I do have kids from a now dissolved marriage. My ex wife and I parted amicably and we have a notarised contact approved by the courts prior to our divorce indicating my limited financial responsibility for the kids, which in essence are School fees and a contribution towards their well being. To my mind when one applies for a Tourist visa and shows proof of a long standing bank account with a Thai Bank it clearly shows you are not in fact NOT a Tourist!Preempting how reactionary and pedantic the immigration officials are likely to be the chance for debate will probably be nil if doubt arises form the documents I produce. So my addition to the list the OP has made are:1. Bring along the divorce papers in Thai2. Produce Western Union cash collection documents. When this potential visa problem first echoed via the jungle drums I asked my brother to send me a few small amounts of cash (GBP400 per despatch) from the UK. This can be done via the internet. I have kept these transaction receipts as proof of my finances. I will undertake another such transaction next month. This gives me some 7-8 transaction receipts of funds to cover my stay as 'A Tourist'I return the funds to him the same way end of every month.I believe this to be a more 'Tourist Centic' way of showing financial independence without (hopefully) drawing scrutiny to ones finances.

Had a very simlar problem recently with my Honda Forza (16K on the clock)Juddering when cold, under load or on an upward incline start.Took it in to renew the rear tyre last week and asked them to look into the juddering issue? They removed the clutch plate (Fig 5) from the housing, showed me the wear on the pads (still within tolerances) and explained the dust accumulation would be the culprit. They cleaned out the housing (Fig 1) and now its as responsive as new. Juddering gone.I would guess the remedy for a PCX would be the same?

Yes, prior to this NCA service we used Chan Tour, also operating out of the main Bus terminal in MSK near Serm Thai Plaza.Like you, my issues were, bus age and condition, driver standard (speeding and/or brake-accelerate-brake-accelerate, which tends to slosh one about when trying to sleep), disurbance during high occupancy trips (selfish knobs playing their entertainment systems at full tilt without headphones). But one of the main bug bears had with Chan Tour was the 'holier than thou' attitude of the Katoy attendants they use. Some of which were at very odd stages of their metamorphosis! If I recall the departure time currently MSK-Mo Chit is 21.40Departure from Mo Chit- MSK about the sameBut please check for certainty

Coming previously from the Automotive Coating business myself and without getting into the technicalities (to much), I would say that white is the most common colour in Thailand due it its ability to defect heat. dark colours absorb heat.
Therefore to my mind, regardless of whether the coating is solid colour, mica or pearl in its appearances, the manufactures have cottoned on to the fact that White is the most popular choice and can make a few extra bucks by making it (seem) exclusive.
The coating system on an automotive vehicle in only 70-180 microns ( 1 micron = 1/1000th mm) thick. The colour provides the aesthetic component only, so very little 'colour' is used. The clear coat (final stage) is the most important as it provides protection against temperature variation, UV, weathering, scratches etc.
Because the clear coat needs to provide the optimum protection, this element is the most expensive in the coating system. This is regardless of the vehicle colour....Red. Black, Silver. Gold or White etc.
Think about it, how often would you choose an alternative colour and save the 7K if white was your primary choice anyway?
I would say almost 100% will pay the 7K extra (albeit begrudgingly) for the colour they most desire.
It's just a good marketing ploy, pure and simple

Well, there are Thai degrees, and then there are degrees. And Thais love a degree holder, regardless of the job level - possibly excluding labourers and cleaners, but I wouldn't be sure of that - and irrespective of other abilities. I've had girls working for me, with paper qualifications coming out of their ears - and damn-all common sense.
My eldest son has no degree, but he is a chartered accountant and FTSE250 CEO, who would leave most intellects, Thai and otherwise, in his wake. But would he qualify for a job here, if not for his CEO credentials? Possibly in an accounting firm, but probably not outside of his job experience.
Do you have qualifications that would be equal to a degree?
No I don't.In both the industries I have worked they needed my practical expertise first and for most. The fact that I have worked for MNC's opened the doors quickly then to managerial opportunities. -
What is the purpose of this job hunt ? Are you looking for employment as a primary means of support or is it intended to stimulate to mind (The reason behind looking for a new field of employment).
I have been thinking along similar lines myself, to look for employment in a totally different field. I am not interested in retiring, but I would like to work in a different industry or maybe take up a course in a new field.
Until 2002 my field of expertise was Automotive Coating, worked for many years with BMW and Akzo Nobel. Then in 2002 had a chance to change disciplines and got involved in Underground Construction & Mining solutions.Had initial doubts if I could make a successful transition as I am not a civil engineers? But I developed successfully in that field for the past 12 years. Managing SEA for a renowned German Mining Solutions Company and Regional Manager South Asia for BASF India Ltd.So the managerial experience gained along side the technical and practical aspects of Automotive Coatings and Construction Chemicals have been Business Development & Project Management. These skills I believe can cross multiple industry.Clearly I could/can go back to what I know, but I actually fancy working for an NGO. Big salary is not a key driver for me, but I do need a challenge and a job whereby I get out of the office 50% of the time.
I didn't see any fake cops on lower Sukhumvit
