I think you'll find it's the other way around, you've been getting all the benefits for years.
Now it's time to level the playing field.

Thailand's cannabis industry is facing a seismic shift as new regulations threaten to shut down around 12,000 cannabis flower shops.
They can continue to sell to prescription patients... just not Joe Bloggs who walks in off the street.

why was the design been given green light to start construction? Surely if it's so bad, someone would have pointed it out before the first earth digger arrived on site?
I think the original design was deviated from to save time and costs.
Original load bearing structures were down-sized.

Yeah, there's a lot of big Thai companies doing business down here in Cambodia.
Just one example is 7/11 which are building them all over the place.
I'll bet they love having their business disrupted by petty politicians and money really talks in Thailand.
I'm sure the CEO will be talking to the government...
Maybe Paetongtarn will get that phone call right.

Or why it wasn't detected in Thailand during screening ?

After a testing agency have already said the re-bar was of sub-standard quality...

But the Peoples Party did NOT have a majority of the seats, so they could NOT form a government, and no other party wanted to join a coalition with them. Don;t you have ANY idea of how democracy works?
TRUE democracy would have meant that the peoples choice at the ballot box would have given the Future Forward Party the government position.
NOT all the other parties voting for seats which can be rigged to get in.
That is NOT democracy

I am confused, being from a country without a Prime Minister. Are countries with Prime Minister all directly elected by the people or, like in the past, the Head of State asks the head of the winning party to form a government?
The latter is nearer the truth.
The party holding the majority vote gets into power and forms a government.
That majority/coalition party then self elect their leader/PM.
