Authorities are still investigating the origins of the money. Initial suspicions point to illegal online gambling operations and other illicit activities, with the money funneled to relatives and subordinate officers of top-ranking police officials, including Nipapan’s husband and the ousted deputy police chief, Surachate "Big Joke" Hakparn.

"...the front of the car is mostly plastic".
Nothing aft of the front bumper, relevant to the accident, is plastic!
Everything aft of the bumper looks almost normal, no real radiator damage, both headlights are cracked but not destroyed, the bonnet is as thin as paper, all the front plastic is hanging off.
No windscreen damage..
He hit a building at normal speed nothing excessive.

Google's latest Bad Apps Report ranks Thailand, Singapore, and India as the top three countries in the Asia-Pacific region most affected by financial fraud scams in 2023.
Thailand is sadly very lacking in online fraud and applying measures to reduce it, they are very much on the back foot.

Reportedly, Hastings suffered from a congenital disease, although the specifics of his illness have not been disclosed to the public.
Could have been medical, lost control and crashed, the damage is not indicative of high speed, the front of the car is mostly plastic.
