I'm beginning to see a reversal in ideology to get totally into bed with China and have a high speed rail link into Thailand. Initially this was seen as a great idea, China building infrastructure and services for impoverished Thailand. But now with the government acknowledging cheap imports from Thailand harming the Thai domestic market they are dragging their heels for as long as they can.

In the UK many years ago they had a "Handgun ban" no ownership what so ever... Achieved nothing, gun crime remained exactly the same. The only thing that happened was many hand gun owners stopped sport shooting and many gun clubs went out of business.

Which will not in any way stop gun crime.

Agreed, while I purchase only certain items for convenience as apposed to necessity the two 7-11's near me are always clean, well stocked and service is excellent. They cater for the lower-mid level clientele and are priced appropriately, they are in fact a great business model.
