I got stitched up 15 years a go when I shipped some household goods from the UK to Thailand prior to my arrival. Everything was second-hand from my home. When my wife went to customs they demanded a huge fee.

This is normally done in educated countries through the licences to which the venues hold. Each establishment is told what they can and cannot do. ie closing time, music hours etc etc. This is a complete joke in Thailand.

A Thai friend of mine just did a 10-day package tour there.. 40,000 baht all-in. Flights, 5 star hotels, tours, transfers everything included. Well impressed and said would definitely return.

Well he got far away, but not far enough.

Good news he chose to remove himself from the gene pool and help Thailands commendable leap towards evolution but sad that he tried to take his partner with him... that marred his good deed of the day.
