  1. I don't want to make this personally about any one poster.

Though I am interested in hearing from others have why living here long-term u wouldn't want to adapt a little and make life easier and more fulfilling by learning some Thai.

If u don't have some basic Thai you have to be reliant on other people for almost everything going on around u in Thailand.

  2. Rap is the reason I stopped going to sports events in america as it makes my skin crawl. I also hear it a lot here in Thailand, and nothing makes me move faster. I also don't like loud music of any kind, but that is just me as I am very social and would prefer to be able to talk without screaming. I do like loud music at a concert when the reason I am there is music. I also don't like karaoke, I would much rather hear Johnny Cash sing his song than see someone else try. I know I'm an old redneck. Proud of it too.

Not liking loud music and living in Thailand can be challenging at times.

Johnny Cash did some decent tunes...but dated now
  3. If you are telling me I need to like rap music, ass crack showing,  lack of respect for elders, People with their nose in a phone at the dinner table, etc. etc. Then I will gladly stay back in time.

What is it with rap music obsession for a group of guys?
Rap music is one of the smallest sections of popular music at arpund 5% popularity....
An example of opening up and expanding horizons to experience the other 95%
  4. Try over 300 baht for a Maccers in Pattaya.

Can still get a Thai meal of fried rice chicken for 25 baht outside of Pattaya. Correct me if that isn't 10 times.

I don't get why Thais think the crap is so status.

I agree about the status thing...

But it isn't ten times the price. KFC does a mega go bowl of fried rice for about 70 baht...Street price bkk 30 or 40 baht
  5. Hey JJ can you tell us something about you. Where from ? Time in Thailand ? I say this because you joined this forum 2 months ago  and have more posts than some who have been members for 3 years. Would like to know where your knowledge of Thailand comes from or you just like to sit at the PC all day thinking of things to write. As another poster mentioned I think you need to get out more.

How many people join thaivisa from their very first day in Thailand?
I don't look at my post count...not sure why u would care either about posts and time frame. Is there an acceptable ratio of posts to time being a member?
    I don't have a PC...I use a phone. Writing an OP is not a time-consuming task.
Feel free to try some yourself
  6. And, what is wrong with not wanting to "develop"?

The insane rush to "develop" has blighted western society, turned the youth into wimpy wooses that think pretend friends on their machine are actually real, and destroyed millions of lives in the developing world by exploiting them to obtain cheap stupid machines, never mind destroying the planet as we know it as the sheeple fly around the world to tan their blubbery hides around a pool in countries they neither know or care about.

    Develop? Bah humbug to that.

U dont have to choose to follow mindless teenagers and early twenties something...
I wouldn't recommend following vacuous people of any age really...unless already vacuous and then the transition would be easy

Exploitation has always been around...dont think any generation has a clean record there
  7. Must be cheap in pattaya.

Last time I bought some Mcdonalds I remember a set being about 180 baht or less...
kfc was similar...or 120 baht for 8 drumstick looking pieces..add some fries and drink...not sure that's 10 times either

The real criminality of deception is Starbucks and their clones...
165 baht for a iced coffee?? Now that coffee is on a par with 3in1 Birdy

  8. A few that stand out from the first list of 11 I found on the web  Link

    The are endless examples.

    6. A school in Seattle renamed its Easter eggs 'spring spheres' to avoid causing offence to people who did not celebrate Easter.

    7. A UK council has banned the term 'brainstorming' – and replaced it with 'thought showers', as local lawmakers thought the term may offend epileptics

    8. A UK recruiter was stunned when her job advert for 'reliable' and 'hard-working' applicants was rejected by the job centre as it could be offensive to unreliable and lazy people.

    10. In 2007, Santa Clauses in Sydney, Australia, were banned from saying 'Ho Ho Ho'. Their employer, the recruitment firm Westaff (that supplies hundreds of Santas across Australia), allegedly told all trainees that 'ho ho ho' could frighten children, and be derogatory to women. Why ?  Because 'Ho Ho Ho' is too close to the American (not Australian, mind you) slang for prostitute.

I'd agree with you about those examples...nothing off the wall thinking those are loopy PC suggestions
  9. If you were clever you would see that I did put some thought into post 37.

Explaining how even when not responding, a judgement is placed on the omission. That is an example of modern sensitivity or a politically correct mind prison.

Read 1984. It describes the same phenomenon.

I thought that response was just a cop out in post 37. It would lack critical reasoning ability on my part to accept it as a specific example of political correctness.
U are intelligent enough to express actual examples of your opinions and stay within forum rules
  10. Even refusing to answer your request makes me a racist. homophobe, misogynist, Fox news watching, nazi, Bible bashing oppressor, all around hater, and global warming denier.

    That is an example.

I must accept the party line on everything, or I am all of this and more.

I reserve my right to a free mind.

Not much of a free mind if u fear to express it
  11. Time stopped for me when I moved here. I still feel 33 years old, the age I was when I first came. I can't pinpoint the exact cause of this anti-ageing agent- the beer, my wife and family, my job the weather, the Thai people, the food, morlam. Perhaps it's the combination of all these factors.

Feeling 33 and living in the past are different things.
Thailand has youth rejuvenation features for many...but no need to hark back to simpler days that probably never were
  12. What's your point? Do you  seriously believe these people you reference even understand what you are saying, let alone care?

Not all of us wish to go jungle. It is distressing enough when the  staff forget to call me master. I do not need to have a discussion of your concerns now.

Who said about going jungle? Bkk is a 24 hours city
