  1. I remember back 4 years ago subscribing to 3BB for the first 6 months or so gr8 connection, after that every weekend the same down from friday to monday.

Several months of continuous phone calls to 3bb went past, and eventually got this response from the thai call center.

Sorry mr but someone has been stealing the cables in the jungle, naturally i responded with have you ever thought of burying the cables, good idea mr lol.

Needless to say i cancelled my contract with them at the first opportunity.

I went from there to True alas after 2 years contract and 3 new modems later, but first it was we have checked the outside line it ok get inside line checked.

Again terminated contract now on wifi 8 months on still ok.thumbsup.gif

  2. Why wouldnt they,i often see the thais offering gifts or money to those who are less fortunate than themselves as i have done in my own country as well as here, but i firmly refuse to any drunk begger who respectfully asks me for money or a cigarette.

As most of us know the thai system is of respect for all and the majority of the thai ladies in particular regularly offer prayers to buddah along with food/flowers so not a real reason to be hungry here in thailand just visit a buddah shrine lol.

As far as the undesirable beggers go then common sense is used to determine whether a gift is offered or not.

On the other hand there seems to be an awful amount of food wastage especially within groups of ladies who consume together,

after filling their bellies a huge amount is discarded.

    Thats life i guess.wai.gif

  3. Nice little covered outside pizza shop in soi arunothai open mon-sat 6pm to midnight, and also wood fired oven, owner french but you dont need to know that, very reasonably priced.

Locaton head towards sukhumvit road along pattaya klang at the traffic lights at bigC make a right into soi arunothai continue for 200 yards premises set back from road on the left hand side, downside is no parking area nearby so motorbike/baht taxi or leg power being the only option.biggrin.png

  4. Thanks for the link, i can see that other members might benefit from this, but maybe i'm unusual in the fact that i gets my bin and

just pay it whatever the amount, bear in mind that i have a thai lady who leaves the bathroom light on after showering and watches tv for sometimes 5 hours a day,do you think i could maybe get her a job and then not need this calculater because i would actually save money and more importantly have more free time to escape for more leo lol.clap2.gif

  5. If you attend bangkok embassy with the police form you should be ok to have issued a emergency travel document this being the case before the changes of this year, namely being issue of passports now been transferred to the trendy building sukhumvit soi 13 bangkok.

Or bearing in mind that you maybe refused exit with second passport show the officials at the airport the police report.

Best scenario for you is to call the embassy or attend which the latter seems to be the best option bearing in mind waiting time for getting through on the phone and the language barrier problem.

Anyway i wish you luck and sorry to see your leaving paradise.giggle.gif

  6. Sorry peeps my previous post concerning utility costs was copied from word but didnt come out in the same format here.

unfortunately after trying to edit same a notification appeared not allowed so we all stuck with it until a mod deletes,

which i have requested for them to do.

All not bad news though at least we can all get a general idea of the expected electronics bin,and b4 anyone comments no i wasnt drunk when i posted the said original document.thumbsup.gif

  7. LOL @ AlexRRR

But i dont mind the rats coming for a short stay, what i object to is them having free food and lodgings,.

Many of my friends who reside in other condos say that they have the same rat problem on the lower floors,so moving is out of the question.unless i go to a higher floor and this arises another problem, lifts out of order scenario, which i also am unwilling to confront.

Having said that there are many cats who use the same walkway and i am certain that this area is used as entry/mating point for them,so the rat issue shouldnt be there but it just a minute issue, now where did i put them glue traps .thumbsup.gif

  8. LOL.

My story, live on 2nd floor (not the 1st) as we all know it except the thais.

Had 4 families of rats in my condo,1 family residing in my air conditioning unit,2 behind my washer on balcony,3 in sink unit,4 had nibbled into my suitcase, maybe hoping for a free flight to uk lol.

Anyway in all 18 rats were trapped and baited, my deaf cat bless him actually caught 2 of em.

You see they all smell food and move in and most of the tenants/owners say they have the same issue on the same floor.

So do i give future non paying guests a tenancy agreement, contact the police concerning undesirable occupants,or simply go out and buy more poison and glue traps, which i see in shops in abundance along with drain/sink unblocking crystals, now i wonder why that is.biggrin.png

  9. Cons to rent a condo hmm well most sites charge way above the standard rates for water, electric, unless you have government electric which you can get for a one off fee naturally.

Depending on location nationality of other renters/owners as some are noisy

    Pros secure.

Therefore do some investigation of the sites you are interested in before venturing into any contract,as reflection of cost is greatly reduced if long term residence is required.

  10. My friend is contemplating the ED visa route as he is 48 and wishes to change to retirement visa at age 50.

Now this is what he has been told when it comes up for renewal.

Expect to be able to be ? in thai and possibly to read some thai text, dont worry about income etc as all the authorities are interested in is that you are actually learning.

The worst part for him is he has to make a decision next week whether to enrol, although his visa is not due to run out until late august,so it's a case of i want your money now mr.cheesy.gif

  11. I amongst many others have read posts concerning using other consuls & have even posted myself an e-mail which i received from swedish consul confirming that they would accept a income document from a brit for endorsing for the benefit of satisfying immo for the princely sum of 570 baht.

As for the Thai postal service,i have not received several letters from abroad, therefore i will not take this route even though it maybe reliable within thailand itself, it could be that i am unlucky or my letters were mislayed by whomever,

Anyway fellow posters/readers we know now what route not to take,

Ok off to local pharmacy suntan cream run out lol.

  12. Incorrect attended austrian consul pattaya today, "I understand you do verification of income letter for brits " reply "Cannot do go british embassy bangkok". wham bam next please.

Same applies to swedish consul but their words were will not do for income out of sweden lol.

Nice one thornie you have to go there or contact them to get a refusal.

So dont get fooled guys and save a wasted journey.

  13. Ok this is maybe you i a brit (boo, hiss or applaud if you wish)

Today i ventured out in pattaya to the following consuls requesting income verification letter for immo

1 Sweden "Wont do if income outside of sweden"

    2 Austrian "Cannot do"

Now here is the thing i amongst others in previous threads have submitted copies of agreement from swedish consul

barry kenyon and the british embassy at bangkok that other eu consuls will assist in aquiring the aforesaid proof.

    Well it aint gonna happen.

    So options are for brits..

1 Post (lol at thai post) 2 Go direct to bangkok 3 Use key visa for additional fee of 300 baht.

Ok we all know it thailand and things change faster than i can fart excuse the pun, but i'm suffering from sunburn

but hey good sightseeing tour of N pattaya Se pattaya S pattaya.

Not to mention waking up b4 sunset really made my day lol

Moral being never believe what you read on www

  14. Today i attempted to get a income letter from the swedish consul at sugar hut resort pattaya, but guess what guys it not there anymore, apparantly it has now relocated to north pattaya.

Luckily my thai lady got the whereabouts from a helpful lady at sugar hut, unluckily for me and all you guys is she wouldnt explain where in north pattaya but will take me monday lol.

Looking on the web the consul is still at sugar hut or on the left of the provincial court entrance.

Do not be fooled by this as it is untrue trust me.

Also today at immo i did 90 day report and the good news is from now on in they not require copies of passport/address

because they computerised and the 90 day slip is barcoded welcome to the 20th century thailand.

  15. I recollect that residence certs are issued at immigration @ 200 baht in a walk in come back later basis.

But these are as stated b4 for buying/selling car/bike, and opening thai bank accounts etc, not as proof of address for thai immigration for renewals etc, a simple bill or bank statement showing address is all they need.

even seen today via www a letter from owner stating that you reside in the propery address will suffice.

As for immo sniffing us out they not blind and naturally check out the swedish endorsed stamp.

    .

  16. When k visa did my last years letter in bangkok, i provided them with copy of pension statement and not a p60 substitute

and a utility bill showing my address although the letter was drawn up at the embassy,i am hopeful that our friendly swedish consul will only require the same documentation for their rubber stamp approval.

I have e-mailed them enquiring as to whether this is acceptable but as yet have not replied, so no further info to pass on.
