Use kbank debit card for payment uk passport renewal at vfs Bangkok.
I'm not sure if this is relevant but... two years ago I used my Bangkok Bank debit card to pay. Things went fine at the office and the payment form with all the other paperwork was checked and accepted and sent to the UK. Some time later an email arrived from the passport office refusing my debit payment. My daughter in the UK paid for the new passport for me.

Thai will for foreigner
A variety of answers which have nothing to do with the question that was asked. I suggest that you Google Thailand probate laws. As a quick and incomplete answer yes you do mostly have to go through probate and it is not cheap as lawyers and judges are in the mix. Like you I protect my assets. My original plan was to leave my wife my Bank card number so that money was available to tide her over until probate was completed. This is not legal. She can not access any money that is in your name until completion of probate. The same rule applies to everything that is in your name only. You need to discuss this matter with a reliable firm of lawyer preferably not one in a tourist resort

25 Lies - How is Starmer still in office
I have some serious concerns about the facts in the article about the Chagos Islands. The actual cost is spread over the 99 year lease. The government's figures are correct. For the first three years there will be an additional charge just over 100 million for the lease of the base. Although I have serious doubts about the capability of this governments I do appreciate real facts rather than manufactured ones.

Thai Casino Controversy: Entertainment Bill Delayed Amid Confusion
So, when you cut through the plethora of meaningless words what emerges is that the government is saving face but can not actually admit that the casino idea is defunct .The ministers are slithering away quietly.

instructionsfor doing 90 day online
Sorry, this is and old and tired topic. I have read the instructions about the steps to be followed before filling in the 90 day form. They are quite clear. When attempting to access the 90 day form website via the promised link .There is no link. There are instructions how to fill in the soon to come online arrival card and some other stuff but no link to the actual 90 day online form itself. Would someone please assist by telling me how to find the damned form

Texas Governor Challenges Proposed EPIC Muslim City Development
Dr Qadhi was educated in a Saudi university widely considered to advocate the Whabbi strain of Islam. This should give pause for careful thought. Whether not the Dr. Advocating the project subscribes to the Whabbi tenenants of Islam which are widely considered to be somewhat extreme is not known and there is no reason to believe that he does but the Governor of Texas would do well to give very careful thought to this project which might well attract religious extremists. Whabbism is an ultra conservative form of Islam. Adherents to its beliefs are encouraged to flock to Jihadist movements

Body scan on international arrival
Slightly irritated by two of the comments in particular the one with "Friend" in inverted commas please let me explain. My " friend" is an eighty three year old lady with arthritis in both shoulders. She was scared that the officers might not understand her inability to lift her arms and not understand her refusal to do so. Previously she has only flown to Europe and how Asian airports work and the possible lack of English was a matter of considerable concern. Her son Googled the question. The first AI answer there was wrong. I have a small for fun bet on the question. Thank you to those who actually answered the question sensibly. I shall pass on the information.

Body scan on international arrival
To settle a bet does one go through a body scan on arrival at Bangkok airport? My friend believes AI which says yes. I say this only happens at departure and AI is wrong.

Medical insurance tax rebate
I live in Thailand for more than 180 contiuous days a year. My income sent here is from my foreign pensions. My state pension is in theory not taxed. It is lumped together with my second pension. Thia reduces my tax allowance to around £ 6, 000 from £12, 000 +. Thus, the Revenue takes 20% of the £6, 000 but this is technically not tax being simply a reduction of my tax free allowance. Presuming that we who are not Thai citizens will be given tax numbers I wonder how the £600+ of non taxable income will be seen if it is more than the tax allowance of Thais? As a slightly silly aside given that I pay B 86 000 annually for my Thai medical insurance can I claim tax relief on that whether or not I'm liable for tax payment here?

Lazada problem
Yes I know this is the wrong forum but I find the new format difficult to navigate. The problem- I ordered a phone. Lazada sent an invoice. The phone arrived and I handed over the cash. It was not sufficient. The invoice on the delivery persons phone showed B 300 more than the invoice on my phone.I refused delivery and sent a complaint to the company from which I had bought the phone. Their response was " This is the break price." After receiving this answer I emailed Lazada customer complaints. There was no response. Could anyone explain what break price means or is it a lost in translation situation and abandon ship?

Thailand Urged to Tackle Foreign Influence in Tourism Business
I was in Bangkok last week in a quiet part of the city near a large hotel. Three very large buses of a type that I have not seen before were parked outside the hotel. Every bus had HAN TOURS in large letters on its sides. This I suspect is an indication of which country is cornering the Chinese section of the market here. It was an incredibly blatant statement

Bangkok Bank passbook codes
Thank you Gottfrid for your first answer. Your PWD answer chills me to the bone. No bank here is going to own up to a mistake of that magnitude.

Bangkok Bank passbook codes
I am having a problem with my bank. There is confusion between me and them and my insurance company - a Thai company. A payment made to the insurance company by the bank has possibly gone astray . As of now everyone is hiding in the bushes and mumbling not me. It seems as if I shall have to sort things out. Cash was moved between my two bank books - savings and savings deposit and then sent onward to as of now an unknown destination. So far I have been unable to find the meaning of the passbook codes and as little English is spoken at my local bank branch I would like to have all of my proverbial ducks in a row before discussing the problem with the two parties involved. I should add that all of this was handled by the bank teller So, can someone please tell me what in simple terms the passbook are telling me with the letters SMT and PWD ? Hopefully one of these will indicate something meaningful.

Paying for new UK passport
The passport office has informed me that they can not process payment for my new passport without saying what the problem is. I can only presume that the problem is my Bangkok Bank Be1st debit card. As the message that I received talks about payment in a meaningful if unclear way. The card has a Mastercard logo on it and I know that Mastercard is acceptable because it says so on the passport application form. I did notice that my card has an end by date but no starting date. Can this be the problem? If so how to solve it? Am I blessed to be the first Expat. who has encountered this problem? Help and advice please. I am reluctant to broach the problem with my bank as the staff assume the frozen rabbit stare when faced with any unfamiliar problem.

Thai Airways' staggering journey from bankruptcy to recovery
The website is a dog's dinner. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. I am referring to my attempts to book a flight to Nepal in November. Initially the website insisted that I wanted to fly today and return today. Sometimes the booking calendar appeared. Sometimes it did not. Eventually my outward and inward dates were recognized. I tapped to book and the page returned to today's date. I give up. A travel agent can do it for me. There are lots of pretty pictures on the website I give them that.

1Y extention, minimum rental contract length
An interesting question. My retirement visa expires on the third of March 2024 and my house contract expires on 26 July 2024. The house owner will only do one year contracts. I see the landlady tomorrow to try to explain the situation - language difficulties . She will not do an open contract with an agreed cancellation period with the deposit lost should either party break the agreement. I hope to talk her into a new contract of two years back dated to when the document was first signed. That will hopefully avoid any visa problems. I should add that on signing the original contract I informed Immigration and it was documented. My big mistake was in failing to see this problem at the very beginning.
