All villages have these so all you can do is hope to get lucky that they aren't being dicks about it and of course don't have the speaker right outside your door. The one at my house in Samoeng is actually remarkably respectful in the morning and infrequent. The village near my wives work in Mae Jo is ok too and never on too early but it's far enough away. However her place of work actually blasts this theme song everyday at 7:45 or so in order to call in the workers who live in company supplied housing.

Never heard of people going door to door and offering cash for votes. Pretty sure you'd be reported immediately and it would be massive news in the campaign they couldn't recover from. Like most of these "it happens back home too" remarks the scale and magnitude is being disregarded.

I got ran out of a house which I really liked near the Mae Sa waterfall in Mae Rim because the temple would announce donation amounts as early as 5:30am (xxx donated xxx baht, repeated over and over again) and the village intercom would often go off in the 6am range proceeded by 10 minutes of crap distorted music. This behavior is malicious, he knew he had to get it out early before people left for work so listening to him was mandatory. I'm hyper paranoid after that. Before considering anywhere to live the intercom situation is the first thing I need to figure out.

I'm in Mae Jo this weekend and I just went out and was blocked on a small concrete road by a horde of people in red hats and a truck blasting the intercom. I had to turn around and go the other way instead of pushing past them. I'm guessing this is the same crew given the red hats.

Not only are the constant trucks driving around for weeks with loud speakers annoying, they're cringe and embarrassing. If I yell at you loud enough will you vote for me? Yeah of course everyone wants the best visa but it's not easy to attain. If I recall I didn't qualify for LTR and wouldn't be willing to spend the now absurdly high cost for the elite visa.

Having nice staff that isn't stressed out would be amazing. There's just no way though with the volume of people they need to churn through daily. I still remember the guy who does the intercom from all the way back then and got to talk to him before when it was more casual. I can't believe he's still there for 19 frickin' years dealing with that madness everyday and hasn't gone postal.
