In 2023, Thailand shifted away from cash just as Sweden asked to see it protected
I've read how China is moving to 100% digital payment apps and the use of them is proportional to a person's social credit score. Not towing the party line or criminal convictions resulting in a lower score will limit access to restaurants, theaters and ultimately basic needs.

O.A Visa on return
I entered on a 30 day visa on arrival and applied for a 90 day O retirement visa. Had to show 800,000 in a Thai bank for 3 months before applying, and that money had to be from off shore. Also proof of accommodation with a hand drawn map showing the location. Recently extended this visa for one year.

Visa Runs - 6 seater van for 3,700 baht (Cambodia Visa Run)
I like to close my eyes and pretend I'm sitting in a comfy car driving to the airport and not sitting on bus full of smelly people.

New Covid JN.1 Strain Sweeping Thailand
Had Covid last week (tested positive) and the only exposure I could have had was using the elevator to go to the pool. Under 30 seconds possible exposure so super contagious. Used Virx nasal spray and didn't get sick. I'm 5x vaccinated and done with boosters. More effective to have an unopened bottle of Virx on hand.

O-A to O money
Lots of great information in this thread, thanks so much. This website is awesome for information like this and I really it hope it survives. I want an O visa going forward so I think for me, it's best to visa run to Cambodia for a 30 day, extend it then apply for an O visa based on retirement in January. Again, thank you for your replies.

O-A to O money
Thanks for the helpful replies. My insurance agent told me not to renew from Canada. Note to self..change insurance agent. Checked the Krungsri letter again, it does show the transfer coming from my Canadian bank swift code through Bangkok bank. Is this too tight of a window? Close to New Years, busy time of year. Maybe get a 30 day tourist extension and then apply for the O visa.

O-A to O money
Ok, here's what happened. My first year OA visa is multiple entry, expires November 22. Arrived swampy Oct 14 and Immigration stamped my passport visa expires Dec 5, the date my insurance expires. Renewed the insurance for a year, went to Jomtien soi 5 for a year extension and they said nope, year two is done Dec 5. Didn't expecting this. I did wire 1.5m baht just before I left Canada and it arrived Oct 17. So, not two months and now have to go to O visa. I have the wire transfer receipt from Canada and got a letter today from Krungsri bank. The letter says the money arrived Oct 17 and was transferred through Bangkok bank. Doesn't say it was from off shore but the amount lines up. Good enough? Thanks for your replies.

O-A to O money
My O-A visa expires on Dec 5 and I'll change to an O visa. Border run next week and enter on 30 day voa. Applying for an O visa, is there a two month money in the bank requirement on application day? That would be impossible for a 30 day visa holder but I've read it is / it isn't needed. Anyone know what's what for Jomtien?

Witch hunt against 'Big Joke' persists: Police probe rental properties linked to top cop
BJ was responsible for the TM30 rules change. The Embassies all decided to change their rubber stamp policies at the same time. What prompted them? Btw, it's still not "Now everyone have to face the same rules."
