  1. This whole story starting with the crash and finishing with compensation and probably who gets prosecuted boils down to corruption and money
  2. That road looks to busy and wide to attempt in one crossing. I think she did the right thing in the circumstances assuming no other safer place to cross
  3. The fact she does not see the hypocrisy just shows how bribery is taken as the norm for many here.
  4. My first thoughts after this tragedy was of poor maintenance and its allowance by officials to let it happen due to bribes. Thais do not see the bigger picture when you facilitate vehicle examinations for under the table payments.
  5. It's only the same as Thais trying to get visas to countries like the U.S. The application fee is non refundable for refusal.
  6. Exactly and that's why I never ever travel in one.
  7. I would say its the government who are at fault. The directives would come from them to the commissioner general on how they would Police
  8. It makes my blood boil when governments do not see the wider picture. Moving people about in large vehicles need to be regulated. Maintenance is one area then driver training and requirements on drivers hours and rest time. But if you have all this in place then it needs to be regularly checked otherwise it's worthless. Unfortunately they believe safety does not generate money but if done properly it could.
  9. Unfortunately this is knee jerk reaction and all will be forgotten after the funerals. Things will continue as normal in a few weeks.
  10. I am hoping to take my Thai wives son (27) with me to the 2026 football world cup. Having researched the requirements it would appear he will need the B2 visa. The B2 visa is a 10 year visa which enables the holder to visit as many times as they want up to 6 months per visit This is what I would call a leisure visa meaning for travel visit friends etc. The requirements for the B2 visa are on the U.S embassy website but it will mean an interview in Bangkok. As an aside note the U.S had promised FIFA that if it was awarded the tournament it would make it easier for travelling fans to get visas. To date I have not seen any evidence of that but their are a few discussions on the internet about it.
  11. The old school duffle bag might work Thanks
  12. I wanted for international flights who tend to be stricter. Don't want to turn up for a flight we're you have to reconfigure or have added expenses
  13. Ryanair does not fly from Thailand and international flights, which I want the luggage for are stricter as you can see from other forum members
  14. Take a chill pill I am talking more about dimensions than weight
  15. I didn't realise backpacks had gone up that much in price but if it is rugged enough then that's no problem
  16. Many thanks. Airlines are so strict on luggage now that I want to make sure it goes as carry on.
  17. As anyone found a good carry on suitable to fly with, preferably soft not hard luggage. I have looked on Lazarda etc but interested on real world experience. Must suit airline dimensions and be very lightweight. Thanks.
  18. A bit of topic but it would be nice to know the training Doctors go through here. I have had good and bad. Do they train as long as western Doctors (4 -7 years )? Is the standard as high?
  19. Yes and brain damage.
  20. The government could do so much better for people like her. That money will soon be gone on essentials and probably debt. Their should be a minimum living allowance for people genuinely unable to work by reason of age or disability.
  21. I have read that report and you have cherry picked what you wanted to try and make a case. This is an American stat and not the same worldwide. I am not an EV owner and will not consider until I see how old batteries and second hand vehicles get managed in the future. Here in Issan EVs are commonplace with Thais and foreigner. Many have their own charging points tied into there solar systems, something that is harder to do in Bangkok.
  22. Why headline the article with EV collision kills bank employee when it appears that it was the driver rear ending a truck that killed him. RIP. I have never seen an article starting with a ICE vehicle kills driver.
