  1. My extension expires on Aug-10, and yesterday I got to CW did new 'consideration' stamp no problem took 3 hrs.

    Dunno if I lucky or just officers are in good kindred mood. I saw them stamping 'only 3 days b4 expiration could proceed', but heck, much holidays this month(technically yesterday is only 3 days to gov-holiday), and not sure if next month they'll extend covid-60 days policy. (The policis are too unpredictable, I have another 500k paid PE Visa still have 1-year effective, but currently no way to use back in messed up situation)

    What's stopping you from obtaining covid extensions. They will continued to be issued most likely untill borders are open. IMO

    Making easy difficult.

    Yes 1900 baht per extension and visits to obtain is pita but not difficult

    I was interviewing a job, speechless the boss send my passport to Surat Thani to get covid extension!

    Made my Bangkok TM30 invalid. Now I have to re-apply TM30, only then covid extension in 3 days. Mission almost impossible, and since I have no relative and no money(80k THB savings in total) , I most likely at the end of road...

  3. Sigh. 3 years ago I used all my saving applied elite visa, because I'm a poor sod no home to go back to, and decided to stay and work in Thailand. Elite visa could do as a good backup, whenever I have to change job, I could at least switch back to elite visa and stay here.

    But can not switch to stay on elite visa within Thailand, usually not a problem, roundtrip to nearby just ~200$. Now covid situation, it's became totally ridiculous and useless.

    I was on BOI work permit at a big company, but got into some feud with some s*bags, and this January I was poisoned unconscious for a week, made into 'accident', and breach contract cancelled my WP, and no way to sue a big company in a corrupt system. Now I'm only keeping apply covid-extension, and elite-visa is totally useless, just waste of money.

    As a healthy person have a valid Visa, and limited budget only good for normal life, now I need to leave Thailand... pay ASQ... apply COE... spend tons of money and month of time(I have to detach my pet cat together 11 years because of that, I can't let her starve death), what a pain and too expensive totally impossible for me... what has the world became because of covid...

  4. Alternators are controlled by regulator, even very old alts could be generally quite stable within amp capacity(I do check this everyday with my ecu log, pretty much the only voltage dip is starting). And newer cars have additional control like load sensing, active load control, etc. Like suggested above, organized and clean grounding would make much more sense than 'volt stablizer'.

    To the point.

    Although I would have answered the question with a plain "No" from experience/hearsay I try to find some proof. A video in Thai clearly confirms the above.

    There is a reason why it's called a "Private car" license.

    (3.5 t, max 7 passengers)

    Also been mentioned already: the license plate is a "commercial" one.

    Can only be driven with a respecting "truck" license.

    Driving such vehicle is always considered work.

    Foreigner will never get a work permit for truck driving ("forbidden" job).

    So no sense in issuing truck license to foreigner.

    Correct me if i'm wrong but I remember very clearly from exam prep, normal license could drive cars with 12 passengers.

    “Private vehicle” means: (1) a private car for passengers not more than seven in number; (2) a private car for passengers exceeding seven but not more than twelve in number and a private pick-up truck with vehicle weight of not more than one thousand and six hundred kilograms which is not used in transport for reward under the law on land transport

  6. Reminds me when I got my license, I was too poor to afford apply DL(~$1000+) in China and driving without license since middle school... so actually took entire test and got my first DL here.

    The DLT website has full questions/answers list for written test, use google translate and memorize and passed with ease.

    Drove my beater Corolla to driving test at Mochit, to my horror I need to plug in a testing device into 12v socket, which on my car is not working. Quickly spliced a wire from ignition switch socket, luckily it worked through the test. Driving test itself was very easy, drive straight - roadside parking and watch traffic signal - reverse parking. The most difficult is roadside parking needs to be really close to the curb I think less than 10 inches to qualify, which I take twice.

  7. As a Chinese to date I'm not fond of Chinese car industry. China has very heavy tax like Thailand, also has Japanese-style most strict car regulation in the world. Even with billions market and robust industry and purchase of Volvo etc. still yet to make a single mass-produced car that is both fun and elegant. All boring daily commuters or working vehicle.

    In China owning a car is super PITA. Even apply driver license could cost somewhere from 7000-14000CNY ~ 700-1400USD and bloody difficult. Plus super strict emission regulation could outlaw 2-3yrs new car or at least prohibits them from entering metro area. Plus traffic police is BRUTAL( a situation in Thailand could haggle to 100baht fine, in China may go straight to jail ). I can't see they build any fun cars with so many chains bounding innovation

  8. As a conservative I see little point in the proposal.

    The country is currently doing well, relative to other countries amidst covid situation. I doubt fight for lease majesty law could have any direct benefits for everyday economy, it might like briton faffing to exit eu, sounds so impressive and glorius, but only ended up as a mess laughing stock and years of faffing non-progressive.

    If I have to name biggest issues for Thailand, I would say 1. occasional xenophobic and sinophobic, 2. vast laziness and irresponsible attitude, 3. lack of higher education. More have to do with the people rather than tops.

    One thats had regular servicing ,so that  leaves out one hell of a lot of Thai owned cars.

    The other side isn't neccesarily fine n dandy. Some westerners could be equally dumb & deceptive.

    There're also LOT Thai guys knowledgeable and care about their car. To think of it for many Thais car is VERY expensive and a prize, while westerner usually much better standing some could treat car as disposable toy. I know some did.

    I know it's a humor just clarifys may some took it seriously

  10. Yes and taxed on CIF unless < $50 includes shipping. Generally 35% from western countries. And for highly valuable package may requires you go to BKK cargo hub and look for agent / pay tariff there.

    Because shipping fee is also heavily taxed thus flat parcels are better choice than DHL, UPS etc.

    China, Oz, NZ, Japan have FTA with Thailand, although it is not easy to get form E as individual, but sea feight small parcel from these countries are more likely to be exempted or overlooked.

    For detail official tariff rates from a certain origin country, search here: http://itd.customs.go.th/igtf/en/main_frame.jsp Some results may surprise you like I just bought some turbos from China, they're classified as 'machinenary - air pumps' not car parts and FTA exmpted from tariff.

  11. Then for WP cancellation, pretty much the same with Non-B cancellation. Except only states in WP cancellation form you quit at the day of WP cancel, without mention 21 days later.

    Refer to this PDF but note it's an old version before this year's rule change: https://thailawonline.com/images/documents/wp_cancellation.pdf My HR did some back and forth to get everything correct up to date.

    Also make sure your company's HR well prepared before go to local district labour office. The process took long time and officers will throughly check the reason you quit.

    -------------------------------------

    Then getting BOI Visa and WP is easiest part, if your new company's HR is good your can get new digital WP and Visa very quickly after BOI approval. It only took me 1 hour ish to get both at BOI one stop center, Chamchuri Square.

    After that the Visa/WP part is all done. I then go to nearby Police HQ to apply for background check/open SCB account/sign contract etc. but no more pressure.

    Whole process:

    1. before quit previous job, prepare all documents, calculate dates. Remember tax reports may need time to get take that consideration into your schedule

    2. at the same day, first cancel Non-B, then cancel WP

    3. after both cancelled, have new company submit application immediately to BOI asap.

    4. provide additional documents if needed

    5. BOI approved, make appointment, get Visa/WP at Chamchuri Square.

    That's it. Hope it could helps.

  12. I just got my BOI Visa/WP after quit previous job with ordinary Non-B/WP. I'll share everything I did, hopes could be of help to anyone since WP process in Thailand can be pretty confusing. Also cheers to BOI super smooth process but the principle should be same with general Non-B.

    Some very important notes:

    First you can cancel Non-B Visa/Extension states the cancellation will effective 21 days later, eg. cancel Non-B 21 days in advance. You can also apply 7-day extension after 21 days, so totally 28 days time max of stay after you go to immigration and cancel Non-B. The 21 day count starts from the day you go to Immigration cancel Non-B, includes that day. Example if you're at Immigration cancel Non-B when June-15, you should state cancellation effective at July-5.

    Second you should understand whether you could apply working Visa/WP without leaving  depending on your current Visa type. A tourist Visa, with sufficient time left, can convert to working Visa without leaving Thailand. 21 days Non-B cancellation stamp and its 7 days extension can. Non-B cannot. So the process of apply new working Visa for new job can only starts after you cancel current Non-B and WP and quit previous job.

    Third if you cancel WP first then your Non-B will be voided immediately after WP cancelled. You can't apply new Visa without a valid type of stay, and you will be required to leave Thailand immediately since you have no WP and no Visa. So it is PARAMOUNT to cancel Non-B and get 21 days stamp BEFORE cancel WP. Some sources say you need cancel WP get notification than cancel Non-B - not true, I got to immigration first officers very helpful checked my Passport/WP and happily putted 21 days stamp.

    Fourth You need many support documents through the process. Better prepare everything before you leave previous job, otherwise would be too much pressure in the 21-days stay, since BOI approval usually very fast but as they said, may "up to 21 days". You need extensive support from both previous company and new company, so be sure don't on bad terms with the company/boss you're quitting...

    Fifth the WP process changed this year foreigners can no longer cancel WP them selves. Only Thai people can, preferably you company HR, Boss etc. Also it is no more done in Din Daeng but at local district offices. The process can be tedious so make sure who go do it understand everything do it smoothly. If you can get WP cancelled same day after you cancelled Non-B first, you get the best time window to do new Visa/WP.

    The actual documents you need to provide new company to apply BOI Visa:

    1. Yearly tax report from last year(PND91, with original receipt)
    2. Photo in File version (Fomal Dressed, Take off glasses, White Background)
    3. Employment Verification Letter from previous company

    This is to show you have work experience meets BOI's qualification. Usually you need atleast 2 years of working experience matches diploma profession/new application. For me because I quit university due to family reason and dont have fancy degrees, I was required atleast 5 years experience of same field and 1 year experience working in Thailand. Luckily I have, and my previous companies gave me sull support sent in verification letter very fast. Scanned copy of original letter(with boss signature, company seal) could do.
    4. Diploma

    With valid translation notarized by law firm.
    5. English CV/Resume
    6. Tax Number

    If your previous company do your income tax online, don't forget to ask for your personal ID/passwork on Thailand tax system.
    7. Social Security Fund Number
    8. Prove of Work permit cancellation
    9. Prove of Visa cancellation page
    10. All Photocopy of passport that Thai immigration stamped + T.M. 6 card + 90 days notification due date

    Then for Immigration Non-B cancellation, you need atleast:

    8.1 PND1 personal income tax report from last month.

    8.2 DBD company registration documents, Boss's ID scanned

    8.3 Power of Attorney letter assigned to you to cancel Non-B yourself. With duty stamps, company registration file, grantor(boss)'s ID scanned

    8.4 Resignation letter states effective date 21 days later.

    8.5 Copy pages of your passwort.

    8.6 Your WP.

    All company documents signed by Boss. All your documents signed by you.

    Show this pic to your previous company HR:

    598440015__20200624005523.jpg.278259419846cd9fc651d35faab182f3.jpg

  13. I currently prepared:

    for Non-B Extension:

    1. resignation letter, end of contract notification, cleared stated last day of work;

    2. DBD registration copy;

    3. Company Director's ID copy;

    All signed by director.

    for WP:

    1. same resignation letter and end of contract notification, cleared stated last day of work;

    2. WP cancellation form;

    3. DBD registration copy;

    4. Company Director's ID copy;

    All signed by director.

  14. As title said, do I need PND91 form for cancellation of Non-B Extension, and Work Permit? I got new job and need the cancellation notification to start new Visa process, so kinda sooner the better, but not sure how much time PND91 usually takes if needed. I was only earning basic salary to obtain WP, so income tax is really marginal. Thanks for any input

  15. Best option if have a trustworthy Chinese-speaking friend arrange independent sea-freight, eg. send to Chinese warehouses what we called Ji Yun Cang(集运仓) for bulk containers straight to Bangkok...

    I got my items consistenly around 2 weeks, take or add. Today got my authentic HX35 spooly snaily and some welding supplies for a combined shipping fee of 200 baht.

    For small items just pay a small extra and had seller send FedEx.

  16. Independent Sino-Thai sea freight usually takes somewhere around 2 weeks, take or add. Definitely the Singapore detour cost time.

    Smaller items I always ask aliexpress seller send FedEx, usually arrive Bangkok within 3 days for recent orders

  17. Another black man has been shot dead at Louisville protest. Conveniently all body cams are either not activated or malfunction, just like Breonna's case. Sounds like typical North Korea cover up aren't they.

    They fired the police-in-chief after, laughable the PD knows they did wrong but think fire the murderer could compensate taking away human life, smart! The more scary thing is their brain all working this way, no matter MinneaPD, LouisPD, FergusonPD, Zimmerman, Amy Cooper, McMichael murder pairs, and many many other consciously or subconsciously supremists.

    The black restaurant owner was shot dead by police, Odessa Riley, his mother, told CNN her son was killed "for no reason."

    Yep, plus China did show better restrain never once launched national guards onto HK streets. Also not a single casualty on protesters side except a suicidal case - protesters claimed 6 missing or dead all been found alive well later, even Mainland supporters was routinely abused even racially teased( Some rightwing stores: no service to Mandarin speaker, this event had huge impact in Chinese society even many protester leaders viewed as shame and bad PR )

    Actually damn ugly car (from the front) - I never liked the whole bug eye thing.  But in every other respect it was gorgeous.  And the noise it made was just absolutely incredible.  The unequal length header Subaru boxer burble amplified up to 10 with the external wastegate chattering on lift off.......such an amazing sound.

    Yep some of our Celica guys love unequal header and say it has a Subaru vibe.

    I did my Celica dual wastegates and sidexit straight pipe, she sounds great but still running stock power, can't compare to proper forged bottom ecu mapped car. A lot budget and love needed to properly finish a project.
