  1. As a skeptic Chinese I wasn't impressed with China's overeaction and herd panic.

But from all those China haters naysayers state that, the current situation is too good too amazing to believe.

I finally started to think maybe China did very good reacting to this pandemic! OK, tone down a little bit, if what numbers China reporting are true then they really did a great job, is that right?

To think this virus have atleast 2 weeks incubation period to discover, and China could be misled by experience dealing SARS which absolutely doesn't transmit during incubation... The reaction time not too bad either. And they did not hesitate a second to suspect virus could transmit within mild symptoms. (Also no Chinese never eat bats, also unlike US/OZ etc. hunting any wild animal is very SEVERE crime in China, totally banned since 90s, no one even with connections would hunt a hare. Save except border provinces. I love bowhunting/fishing but never once hunt in China, can only do the hobby abroad. Plus China don't have many wild animals to start with, even deer meat for riches are all herded, I know some rich man travel to some SEA countries to eat pangolin though because in China very likely life in prison)

  2. China finally issued temporary entry ban(many Chinese citizen petitioned since then but CCDC deemed unecessary), they now aim to eliminate import case numbers

All foreign passport currently holding visas, PR, APEC pass are now temporarily forbidden to entry.

Diplo visa, transfer stay, several types of visa exemption are not affected.

Anyone with apropriate reason(important roles in humanitarian, scientific, buisness etc.) could still apply new visa, if visa issued after the announcement(Mar/26) will be able to entry

Acoording to worldometer, Mar 27 number still incoming yet new cases >17000, new deaths 312, total cases more than 100k

Definitely faster increasing than Italy and China, huge spike. Maybe due to insufficient test earlier.

God bless America and may next time elect a prez can actually make things happen, instead of stable genius and his lip service

18363 new cases and 398 new deaths now...

Actually, it's not more contagious than COVID-19. It's considerably less. But that's precisely because of herd immunity. Of course, it was originally far, far worse. But that's true of all these pandemics, including smallpox.

Actually we never achieved herd immunity for TB but controlling it thanks to its very slow acting, and very very cheap, effective medicine. Tuberculosis and smallpox originally have R0 > 10 and thus no any measure could effectively prevent transmission, we know examples from early TB clinics however well the doctors prepared, eventually most doctor and nurses become infective carrier even ill. For infections with high R0 like these to obtain herd immunity(without effective treatment) requires >90% population be immune to them, it is just as do nothing let virus loose。

Any effective treatment/vaccine would make obtain herd immunity quicker and less painful. COVID according to most sources requires 45%-85% immune population to achieve herd immunity, and it looks like the higher end consider Italy's case. Let's say a very much optimal 40% and 0.1% lethal rate without treatment - that's still 3 million global(exclude remote population) death toll. And it won't take years like tuberculosis to do that.

Further suggesting that "herd immunity" is going to be the only long term solution.

Without valid treatment/vaccine, suggesting herd immunity is hardly any different than do nothing just pray, everything from medical overwhelming to severe illness/deaths still apply. In theory since elder or sick population are most vulnerable, could isolate all those people then intentionally expose healthy adults/young to virus, possibly better than do nothing at all, though inhumane and not that easy to execute.

Also whether herd-immunity is viable highly dependent on actual R0, which many still debating and may change according how we deal with it.

If there's any hope of researching/mass produce a vaccine then social distacing/isolating are valid to stall time and casualty. Afterall tuberculosis is much much more infective and lethal than this covid-thing yet no one gets scared of it, because we have established procedure and medicine

The 1918 flu epidemic should have been called the 'American flu', since it most likely originated in Kansas. The Americans got a free ride because of war time censorship, which did not apply in Spain where it was openly discussed. Hence it was called the Spanish flu, but it turned out it did not originate in Spain.

For all its draconian measures, the Chinese did try these to be fair, they were done too late. The lockdown of Wuhan came too late. We saw with the panedemic in Italy, which was caused by two Chinese tourists from Wuhan flying into Rome, that the virus has spread due to Chinese being able to enter other countries. But this is due also to the delayed response by European governments, not just China's delayed response. Almost all governments acted poorly in this crisis.

The German government too, in 2012 the Robert Koch Institute predicted the effects of a coronavirus pandemic. Angela Merkel had 8 years to prepare. She did nothing.

Thanks appreciate anyone talks with reason and evidence! I still think travel ban alone is dubious but my point is Italy didn't prepare other measures like social distancing when ban gave them time. Also I noticed(wiki) the first 3 patient in Italy(Rome, 2 Wuhan patients, 1 Italy returnee) was quickly tested and monitored(well done) didn't cause spread, but first superspreader likely be a 38yr Lombardy man no direct link to China, when he was ill misdiagonised as generic pneumnia, no isolation and infected others

Also found this article in 19 March, Top Medical Advisor in Italy: Virus may circulating in Lombardy before outbreak in China

Remuzzi says he is now hearing information about it from general practitioners. "They remember having seen very strange pneumonia, very severe, particularly in old people in December and even November," he says. "This means that the virus was circulating, at least in [the northern region of] Lombardy and before we were aware of this outbreak occurring in China."

  8. I don't know if just me or anyone feel unsafe walking pedestrian bridges? There're so many wires hangin from poles almost comical.

So, a little messy wiring those power poles; a little bit lacking of grounded outlets and GFCI breaker; and many walk bare foot at home. All seems big risk factor. Do Thailand statistically have more electric safety issue than other country?

If the Chinese cannot be honest about where the virus started, actually they changed their minds when it blew up, how can we take their casualty numbers at face value? They lied about the numbers of dead at Tienanmen Sq, even the Chinese Red Cross said the real total was about 10x what the CCP claimed. Lets be honest unlike the CCP and start calling it the Wuhan virus.

The scientific community already give it a name SARS-CoV-2 or COVID-19. For freaking sake this is a MEDICAL situation not POLITICAL situation. You could choose whatever wording you like,  call it Wuhan or Chinese only shows how stinking ugly political-fanatics could be. China haters be hate. Just for record, we didn't call Swineflu: America-Virus back then(src: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_flu_pandemic_in_North_America).

China did most draconian measure it could do as soon as she can, totally pressed pause button for entire country, can you say that for anyone else? Now we're shedding tears for developed country, can you imagine if China hasn't locked herself 2 months and virus spread to ill-prepared developing country early on? The fact we don't have many pandemic(except Iran) in developing countries should be thanking China.

china is full of BS and its all simply to prop up their leaders the ccp. Even the chinese people are saying that it is BS and that china is still getting lines of people waiting to be tested and also building new hospitals for the infected, the ccp are trying to blame everyone else so they can remain strong and in power)and the simple minded are being sucked in), if the rest of the world hits them up for the fact they covered the virus up for months instead of allowing the rest of the world to know about it the ccp will fall to bits and china will beacome the back water it really is again. The truth is china cannot afford for the truth to come out because it will totally <deleted> up the country and their ambition to become the leading world power house, they are the dirty backwater of the world and resposible for all the current deaths from the chinese virus, xi is the orchestrator of all this trouble and the sooner he is gone the better

All those sensical politics <deleted>posting and no evidence to back your words. This virus situation is time for solidarity and science, not talkin <deleted> political nonsense. Do all those trumpus bois promoting hate speech to Chinese know the word 'decency' & 'humanity'?

btw., Jiang & Zhang Yongkang started internet censorship, HU & Wen made real estate bubble happen. What Xi did? Actually arrested many corrupted official(include Zhang YK for internet censorship), stopped real estate bubble growning, whatever his motive is. China is a big integrated nation won't change course for any particular leader, just like US still running even Mr.bigliar is in charge. Consider that Xi actually is not bad it could be much worse.

    No irony at all.

Although the govt. and certain members of the medical profession tried to warn them, Italians treated the coronavirus with arrogance and refused to let it affect their lifestyle.  They kept congregating and going ojt as they always did, often with 3 generations of family.  They also kept travelling.  As a result, their country has been devastated.  The French and Spanish were barely any better.  Now all of Europe is covered with infected.

If comparing continents, Europe has 15-20x the infections as North America.  The US has 195 dead compared to how many thousands?

I think us population/residential are generally less dense and more spread out which is a huge plus. But US situation is also serious yesterday alone popped nearly 5,000 new cases & ~60 deaths, even in logarithm scale the new cases is spiking, and fast.

anyone has an idea why ITALY have so many to start with ???

did they have 1.000.000 chinese tourists per month and 150.000 from WUHAN ???

Italy was one of the first denied ALL Chinese entry. Along with North Korea.

Most Chinese in Italy are actually from southern Zhejiang, quite far from what Wuhan epicenter, and doesn't have many cases.

What it says focus on all really useful prevention measures like social distancing, effective test & tracking, controlled lockdown, emergency planning, etc etc. Simply hate on and blocking Chinese would be no help, at all.

You mean throttle noise is "much better", that's all.

Aftermarket air filters, whatever brand, do not increase anything except intake sound, noticeably, particularly throttle response!

Edit:  Transam's old thing excepted, of course.

Yes for our stockish cars stock filter usually more than enough, but the sound itself is awesome enough to promote a change????

Also I heard from guys modding high boost L4 even 350-400hp the panel filter would become restriction, 90's rally cars run absolutely humongous panel filter even with turbo restrictor and measley 350hp. On the other hand most generic cones have so much surface area than panel won't be issue until much later. Some big spooly bois say even standard size K&N cone would choke like <deleted> on their build

I'm a skeptic always think corononsense is literally nonsense. But same could be said for:

3 the China haters will hate

Instead some trumpus bois find no problem bombarding China over it. So, instant karma

  15. I remember Italy were one of the first travel banned China, now they're one of the worst experienced pandemic outside China, while Chinese come back situation normal almost

Just explained how nonsensical total travel ban is. Screening + precaution + tracking should be enough for our modern society, and travel ban without precaution could still lead to disaster. Though I see no problem Italian passport now also been banned by several countries, instant karma?...
