Tourist Robbed in Night of Passion

Two people were brought into Pattaya Police Station on the morning of the 12th September for causing a disturbance.

The man, 50 year old Australian Mr. John Hamilton accused Miss Beer, his escort for the evening, of stealing money from him whilst they were playing games in his condo on Pratamnak Road.

She denied theft and counter acted by reporting the Australian for improper conduct, defamation of character and cheating; by not being a good sport in getting very angry and not treating her with respect.

  3. I have been to Angeles City, but I gotta say I personally like Pattaya much better. Aside from my preference of Thai women to Filipina, I found the Phillipines to be a bit run down for my taste. Sure there are some that like to go there regularly, but it is not for me. I doubt I will be returning to the Phillipines anytime soon unless one of my Filipino friends invites me.

Been thinking about going there, for some time, but put off by stories of how difficult it is to get around. Can you advise me of any web sites/ forums that give good information about life in AC please. Also, is it like Pattaya, in that you can just turn up and get an hotel, and is there a high/ low season ( I understand there are a lot less tourists visiting the Phillipines than Thailand, and AC is not really a tourist destination as such?

    Thanks for any advice.

It is not difficult to get to. Just fly to Manila then book a coupon taxi in Manila airport to AC.

I think AC is over rated, more of a last chance saloon for OAP's. For younger people (around 30-40) far better to go direct to Cebu and enjoy the life there. It is impossible not to have a great time in Cebu.

Press Conference Announces Arrest of Armed Robber.

On Wednesday evening Major General Bundit, the chief of Chonburi Provincial police, held a press conference at Sri Racha station to announce the arrest of a 30-year-old Thai male who has been charged with allegedly using a pistol to hold up and rob four 7-11 convenience stores over a period of a month in the Sri Racha area.

CCTV pictures from each of the stores showed a man wearing a full-face motorbike helmet walking into the stores, pulling out a gun, and demanding cash as well as more than a fistful of mobile phone cards. Arrayed before the suspect were enough phone cards to start his own mobile telephone shop. Police claimed he had absconded with the equivalent of 50,000 bahts worth of cards as well as collecting over 30,000 baht in cash.

The man was traced to a room in Laem Chabang but police were unable to find the pistol he used in the robberies. The man confessed to his crimes but said he had already thrown the pistol into the sea as he planned to live off the proceeds of his crimes for a few months.

Car Chase Ends in the Bushes.

On a wet Thursday morning police stationed in Pattaya, and later assisted by officers from Banglamung, engaged in what proved to be an unsuccessful high speed chase of a vehicle that had been noted as being connected with a series of burglaries in Sattahip.

The vehicle had been spotted by alert officers in south Pattaya but when they tried to get the driver to stop he ignored them and took off at speed in the direction of Central Road. Officers radioed colleagues and a roadblock was established but the driver broke through after aiming his car at a policeman on a motorbike. The officer bailed out before the car struck his bike.

Like a scene from a bad B-grade movie the chase continued down Sukhumvit Road and then off into the wilds of eastern Pattaya. It only ended when the Thai male driver of the car was forced into an unsealed side road and decided he had a better chance of escape if he legged it, Indiana Jones-style, into the surrounding jungle.

Officers with weapons drawn trudged off into the undergrowth in what proved to be a futile search for the alleged thief. The man simply disappeared into the bushland and police abandoned the search. Nonetheless, they now have his car and inside the vehicle was an ID card, giving the man’s age as 32 from Suphanburi. Police are hopeful of arresting the man at a later date, as long as he doesn’t take up residence in a tree somewhere.

    Snatch Incident Causes Bike Accident

Police were called to an accident on the 9th September on Third Road.

As officers were investigating the damage of two overturned Honda motorcycles and a Toyota Van, other officers were interviewing two ladies at hospital who had just been treated for arm injuries that they acquired in the accident.

One of them, 25 year old Miss Yadaporn stated that whilst they were riding along the road, a man on a bike came from behind and grabbed her gold necklace. She fought back and grabbed his wrist but in so doing both lost control and they crashed into the rear of the parked Toyota van.

And guess who was being interviewed at Pattaya Police Station; yes the culprit, 25 year old Wichien.

    Teenager Charged with Mobile Theft

As 17 year old Suwat Sriumkarn was walking happily along South Pattaya Road one sunny morning on the 10th September, his dreams for the day came to a swift end when he was confronted by police officers.

He was found with a mobile phone in his possession, which he stole from 21 year old Pechpan Prasert who came along to testify that Suwat had robbed him in the market area further down the road.

What Suwat didn’t know was that Pechpan quickly contacted his brother who is a local police volunteer and it wasn’t long before the search for the culprit came about and Suwat was found.

  8. As this is not health related I am moving it to the General forum, which also has a wider readership...

I think they put something in it to make it addictive (besides the caffeine). All of my high school friends (yes, since High School) who drank it back then are stuck on it now.

Something about it. We'll be bringing cases, I guess! LOL. then it's the cafe yen from there on... I guess it's better than being hooked on booze...

But, But, but Sheryl! I am very unhealthy without my Mountain Dew! I is in the interest of the physical safety of the general public and the general economy (not to mention other critical factors) than I find my Mountain Dew fix in LOS!

    :D

I agree, Mountain Dew is very addictive. However a food scientist warned me off it because excessive intake can cause your testes to shrink from the size of Victoria plums to that of Damson plums.

I understand that this is something to do with yellow dye that is added to the drink.

Google it for more scientific information.

And I thought it was just cold outside! (sounds like someone here is gullible to just about any urban legend). Don't ya think any government in the world would stop it if this was true? It surely would have made the general media (which is why urban legends are confined to water cooler discussions and anonymous internet chat--same goes for the wite man inventing the HIV virus, the US paying people to bomb the World Trad Center just for an election and on and on...

Here's what google came up with (the first hit)...most are about urban legends and how they get started...like waking up with a kidney missing... :o

    http://www.snopes.com/medical/potables/mountaindew.asp

I would keep writing but I have to pud yao (but I'm having a difficult time finding "it)! :D

There is no smoke without fire. I believe that Mountain Dew causes testicular atrophy. It is no good quoting American-originating webpages denying the fact.

Unfortunately, the internet is full of lies and as the movie 'Supersize Me' showed, eating Mc'Donalds food to excess causes serious liver damage.

    It is upto you!

I believe I found the source of Urban Myths! Here's an interview with the man that made the movie. Hardly liver damage (hey, the movie maker's words, not mine). http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html...756C0A9629C8B63

If one is concerned about their health, the drinking in LOS is responsible for more deaths than the fast food chains (read the paper- how many farangs die in a pool of their own blood as a result of alcoholic disseminated intravascular coagulation precipitated by liver failure)? One week in BKK last month- two died (one in an airplane and one in his hotel) not sure how many others were reported that week. (no reference, just opinion).

That is a bit rich. Fast food will always cause more deaths than drinking. 1/3 deaths smoking, 1/3 deaths obesity, 1/3 deaths others. Drinking is about 10% maximum (and those usually due to accident/misadventure).

As for Quote: "how many farangs die in a pool of their own blood as a result of alcoholic disseminated intravascular coagulation precipitated by liver failure)?

Well I would guess very few. I presume that you mean 'Portal hypertension' which is end-stage liver disease and will come forwarned before haemmorage.

The facts remain that in general food and drink of the present age is killing us. 1/3 of deaths are due to bad food and drink. Alcohol in reasonable doses, unless one has the genes of liver disease is usually physically harmless.

  9. I did not see anything in the Thai news reports about this, although I suppose not all burglarys can be reported.

For those of you interested. English laws have changed recently allowing burglars and intruders to be murdered in cold blood by householders, except for being stabbed in the back or ambushed deliberately.

Good news at last in England.

Tourist Police arrest Long Neck Hill-Tribe illegal workers in Sattahip.

Following orders from Police Major General Atagrit, the National Commander of Tourist Police, Police Captain Suprapan, a sub-inspector at Pattaya’s Tourist Police Station led an operation to arrest a group of illegal immigrants thought to be working at Kow Shee Jang in Sattahip.

The group of illegal immigrants who come from the mountains in North Thailand are not classed as Thai Nationals and are easily recognizable by their long necks covered by metal rings.

The Galiang People also known as the Karen Long Neck Hill-tribe can often be seen in Thailand but they are not permitted to work in Thailand without work permits and visas. The team of Tourist Police Officers located a Galiang village at the location which replicates their dwellings in the mountains of North Thailand.

It has been set up as a Tourist attraction. A total of 11 Galiang People were arrested and taken to the Immigration Office for deportation. Khun Wirasak, a Thai national, was arrested in connection with the Galiang People and was charged with harboring illegal immigrants.

Seminar discusses how to identify suspicious activity amongst foreign and Thai Tourists coming to Pattaya.

On Wednesday Morning at the Pattaya Discovery beach Hotel located on Pattaya Beach, Khun Itipon, the Mayor of Pattaya chaired a meeting of Hotel Operators and City Hall Staff members to discuss ways of identifying suspicious activity and individuals who may come to Pattaya to potentially cause a problem.

The Mayor explained that Hotel Staff should become more aware of their guests and how they act. Any suspicious activity should be reported to the National Intelligence Agency based in Bangkok so they can investigate the individuals or groups of people.

This would include international hotel guests and Thai Guests, especially if they originate from Southern Thailand Provinces currently experiencing ethnic clashes.

    Accident on Sukhumvit Road

Police from Dongtan Police Station in Jomtien were called out on the afternoon of the 8th September to a road accident which happened in front of the Kanyong Homestore on Sukhumvit Road.

Together with the Sawang Boriboon they rushed to the scene where they attended to Mr. Jaroon, aged 56, for head injuries and legs which were both broken. He had been involved in a collision with a heavy lorry whilst riding his Honda motorcycle along the busy road.

According to a witness, the store lorry was coming out of the store when the bike travelling fast cut in front of it. Rather than waiting for the police, the truck driver panicked and fled the scene.

" If you can't afford to eat Pork then eat Chicken".

Then followed up with; " Walk instead of taking public transport" ......

I get the feeling that Samak will come to a very sticky end; lifeless probably..............
