  3. Hello,

I read some topics that were posted and they were currently out-of-date. My questions are:

    1. Are there still any free WIFIs at the Suvarnabhumi airport, especially at the arrival area?

    2. If there are a few, can you name the providers? I heard that there was a company called aotWIFI. However, they are no longer in service.

I do appreciate your time and response. Thank you.

I sit outside of the Cathay Pacific lounge (there a seats right outside) and browse the internet at high speed for free.

  4. Being able to possess Viagra without a prescription is not necessarily a good thing.

A medical consultation would highlight the risks of use and make the user aware of the dangers of this drug when taken with existing medical problems and with existing medication.

Proceed with caution. I have personally known one young healthy man {Aged 31} who died using Viagra recreationally.

  6. Each time there's a crisis, my embassy sends me a text message. How convenient.

In the event of an emergency, people via the embassy would also be able to reach me. It's a free service so why not register?

I am sure that many ex-pats living in Pattaya are registered with their respective embassy.

However: Many residents of Pattaya are on the run from, arrest, crime, mafia, ex-wife, ex-girlfriend/boyfriend, drug gangs, revenge attacks, smuggling gangs, fraud squads, vexatious litigants etc. that they DON'T WANT TO BE REGISTERED

    DRUG SUSPECT SHOT DEAD

An ex-security guard of an A-Go-Go pub on South Pattaya, was brutally shot all over the body by two gunmen. He was immediately taken to the hospital but he did not survive the gunshots. Police presumed the murder was from Yah Bah (amphetamine) dispute.

Pol.Lt.Col.Thanadet Duengtapiyachai, Banglamung investigator, was notified of a shooting case at 05.30, on August 31st, 2008. The incident was in front of Olivia Apartment, Soi Nong-hin, Moo 9, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonburi.

The crime scene was an apartment building with about 50 rooms for rent. The incident occurred in front of room No. 1, on the ground floor. Police found a pool of blood and 4 bullet casings of a 9mm gun and 2 yah bah tablets on the floor.

Mr. Somsak Boonprasert or nickname "Ek", (39), the victim who was an ex-security guard of an A-Go-Go pub, had been taken to Banglamung hospital. He had sustained 8 gunshots all over his body. His injuries were too severe and he could not make it to the hospital.

His wife, Miss Mayura Sangmanee (30), from Konkaen province, A-Go-Go dancer from Polo Pub and A-Go-Go, on Walking Street, South Pattaya, told police with tears on her face. She said that after finishing her work at around 4am, she was cooking in the kitchen and Mr. Somsak, her husband, was playing games, waiting to have a meal together.

She heard a noise of a motorbike, arriving at the front of the room, and asked her husband to go out, but she did not pay attention. Suddenly, she heard several gunshots.

Miss Mayura said, she managed to see 2 Thai men (25-30), riding on a motorbike and sped away , left her husband lying in a pull of blood in front of the room. She had her neighbor helping to rush her husband who was severely injured and unconscious to the hospital, but he did not survive.

Miss Mayura assured to police that, she did not recognize the gunmen. Her husband had been unemployed for quite sometime and rarely to go out. It was unlikely that he would have a dispute with anyone to cause the murder. But Miss Mayura had admitted that her husband used to be involved with a woman who had been arrested of convicted to Yah Bah dealer, named "Jae Tak". Miss Mayura said, she believed it was possible that "Jae Tak" could be related to her husband murder as the police accused.

The evidence of Yah Bah tablets, lying on the floor also could answer the murder prediction. Police team would rush to find the facts in order to arrest the brutal gunmen and the person who was behind the case as soon as possible.

Apimuk Am-nart-mankong, Pattaya Dongtan investigator, was notified by Banglamung hospital that there were 2 injuries, had sustained gunshots and admitted at the hospital. Pol.Lt.Col. Chartchai Ruenthawin, deputy superintendent and First lieutenant police officer Santipol Puwilkanok, led the team to investigate.

Mr. Sommai Thien-noi or nickname "King" (29), from Nonthaburi province had sustained a severe gunshot on his chest and another shot on his right shoulder, and another victim, Mr. Suthiphong Glom-mueng or nickname "Pug", (16), a first year student from Banglamung Vocational College, was shot on his left hip.

To answer the police questions, Mr. Sommai Thien-noi said, they were members of Pattaya motorbike gang, wondering around together more than 20 people, on , 15 motorbikes, heading from Soi Khao-Noi to Sukhumvit road. After stopping at PTT petrol station on Theprasit road to refill thier tank, then heading to Jomtien beach by riding in a group spread over Sukhumvit road.

Arriving in front of Thai Namthip Company, there was another group of teen gang of about 10 motorbikes, was following and taking over them. One of those teen gang pulled out a gun and randomly shot on them about 4-5 gunshots to cause the injury. They had tried to escape but the enemy followed them and fired more gunshots then sped away, heading to Huey-yai.

Mr. Sommai’s friends had taken the injuries to the hospital. They victims said, they could not indentify of those enemy group. Police found only the evidence of 2 bullet cases of .9mm gun, falling on the road.

On the same night - at 01.40, another group of motorbike teen gang had taken Mr. Sarawut Yimyai (15), who had sustained a severe shot on his head to the same hospital. 16. I agree that the staff are helpful in the British consulate section and went out of their way to contact me by telephone and email regarding my passport renewal.

    However

I think that in this day and age, considering the high cost of passports and other consular services that it is pathetic that they are available for business for just 26 hours a week. Throw in one of the many Bank Holidays and this availability is much diminished.

They should be available for a minimum of 40 hours per week and alternate Saturdays like the vast majority of other European Embassies.

  17. If you have two passports you can send one for a visa, it is legal but you must have a valid passport with you here. So if you only have one, don't let it out of your possession. Do the double entry tourist visa, it's not hard.

Passports arriving by Fedex or DHL are stopped at Bangkok. I had to pay a 6,500 'fee' to release my second passport, and that was nothing to do with Thai visa stamps, it was just for work overseas visa (another country).

  18. Don't know the reason for being strict. Easy way around it - they will serve a Thai!!

Nobody will be served alcohol between the hours 1400-1700. Yesterday I went to 7-11 at 1655 and my beer bottles would not scan until the clock on the till hit 1700, then the shop assistant proceeded with the sale.

It is inconvenient, but once you get into the habit of timed purchases and plan ahead, it is no big deal. TIT

  19. If you like thin crust pizza, Stone Oven is hard to beat. Not top marks for ambiance and decor, but food is great, also many snack type European foods. Prices also reasonable. Located on Beach road, between soi 6/1 and soi 6. Try it next time you go to return books to the library...

I agree. Stone Oven offer the very best pizzas in Pattaya. The outdoor restaurant is noisy and exposed but I guarantee that once you have eaten the pizza there you will be back for more.

  20. I flew out of Suvarnabhumi Airport yesterday on a flight to London.

I know they recently brought in the 'no liquids' rule which is now popular all over the world but the problem I have at Suvarnabhumi is that it's the only airport that I use where you can not purchase any kind of drink once you go through security.

Normally I have no problem with throwing away a bottle of water when I go through security. I normally just purchase a couple more once I've gone through the scanner.

I can't believe that they have no vending machines or other stores selling refreshments past the scanners.

What a pain in the ass, surely they realise that there's a market here that needs exploiting.

Perhaps they are taking the 'no liquids' rule literally, I noticed the 'drinking fountains' were also out of order.

Just do what I do. Take a cardboard cup from Burger King through security and drink the cold tap water in the disabled toilet. Tastes great!

  21. Two Family Marts

    Heineken 35 baht.

Your choice of any landside seat.

and they are all as hard&uncomfortable as <deleted>

A portable, inflatable rubber ring weighs just 200 grammes and gives relief from the hardness and metallic chill of airside seating. Large bottles of Chang are available for 38 baht from airside Family Mart.
