  3. The Kasikorn Bank pays 0.75% interest on its basic savings account, then less tax on that (15%) so that gives a savings rate of 0.6%.

The best deal available now (September 1st-30th 2008) is 4% at the TMB. They accept a fixed term 5 month deposit of 50,000-5 million baht.

Considering that the baht is strenghthening against the GBP (60) today, the TMB offer is good.

  4. Remember a mattress is an investment. A cheap mattress won't give several years usage, deteriorate and cause bad posture leading to back pain.

I bought a good mattress in Home Pro in Carrefour, Pattaya Klang about one year ago. It was marked-up at 18,000 baht but the sales-team discounted it to 14,000 baht. It was a queen-size double: Brand name 'Lotus'.-Recommended. One year on; back-pain free!

  14. I think a lot people like to boast that they are an atheist because belief in God is considered de trop at the present time.

I suspect that many, having posted as atheist are in fact deist or indeed would prefer to be considered pantheists if they were intelligent enough to understand the meanings of such belief systems.

Agnostics are just lazy or stupid. The very word means 'not knowledgable' which is a pathetic admission.

A LOCAL POLITICIAN CANDIDATE BRUTALLY KILLED IN SATTAHIP-PATTAYA

Ex-District Management Unit candidate was brutally shot by .11mm gun on his head. The cruel gunman treaded on his chest and fired the last gunshot to kill him on the spot. His wife presumed that her husband was brutally murdered due to having a serious dispute with official earlier.

At 00.30, on September 6th, 2008, second lieutenant Arnon Infong, Sattahip investigator, was notified of a shooting incident at a house No. 99/17, Moo 2, Samaesarn, Sattahip, Chonburi, and there were 2 injuries. The victims were Mr. Siri Suksiri or Alias "Go Samaesarn", (43), Ex-Samaesarn-District Management Unit candidate No. 1, was shot dead at incident and Mr. Sinsamut Boontasana or nickname "Joke" (31), a lawyer and president of Rak Samaesarn group, had a scrape shot on his back. Both were taken to Somdet Pranangjao Sirikit hospital.

Pol.Col. Suthee Boonkrong, Sattahip superintendent and police team rushed to the single-storied row house where the incident took place , and found, a pool of blood, 5 of .45 or .11mm gun casings and a bullet head on the floor.

At the I.C.U. of the hospital, police found Mr. Siri Suksiri had been dead and Mr. Sinsamut Boontasana was being helped and out off danger. Mrs. Surat Yungpimai (27), wife of the death person, was crying and confirming that her husband was killed by official people due to they just had a dispute 2 days ago.

Mrs. Surat told police that at around 23.30, on September 5th, there was a mysterious phone call from a woman, to swear on her husband, tried to make him very angry. The unknown woman also challenged him to go out to meet her. Her husband was suspicious then went out to see his subordinate and friends who were drinking in front of house No. 99/17, Moo 2, Samaesarn, to ask them to find out about the mysterious phone call.

By checking his phone, they found the mysterious phone call was from a public phone booth No. 0-3843-5602. It had made Mr. Siri very stressful; he decided to join the drink with his friends.

Subsequently, a bronze Toyota Vigo pickup truck (license No. unknown) had arrived at the incident. A gunman, chubby, mustache, who tied his long hair to his back, wearing a black jacket and jeans, calmly getting off the truck from the passenger's seat, and heading towards Mr. Siri. He pulled out a .11 gun and fired one shot to scrape on the back of Mr. Sinsamut. The brutal gunman then continuing shot 3 times at the back of Mr. Siri's ear, treaded on his chest and fired the last shot on his right chest then walked back to the pickup truck heartlessly.

Mrs. Surat, wife of the death, told police that, 4 days ago after Samaesarn-District Management Unit Election, her husband had lost the election. Political matter should not be a problem due to they are all friends, but she was quite convinced that the killing motive was that her husband had a serious dispute with officials, when they arrested foreign workers who were under care of his sister a few days ago.

Pol.Col. Suthee Boonkrong, stated that the murder case of Mr. Siri should be from other dispute matter, not about the election due to there was no conflict among the candidates. Therefore, police would investigate to find which official whom Mr. Siri had the dispute with a few days ago.

  22. Birminghams consulate along with a few others in the UK have NO e mail address, I find this almost incredulous. They suggest when applying for a visa to make sure the pre paid return envelope is sent special delivery/ recorded/ registered but having just gone to the post office they now can no longer do this with their new computer system. Lets hope the idiots dont lose my passport when they send it back normal first class post. I shall have to write to theBirmingham comsulate and tell them about this, if only they actually got with the times and got and e mail address. LETS HOPE THEY ARE READING THIS NOW.

Why not use the Hull Thai consulate postal service?

You don't need an email address to use the Royal Mail Special Delivery, just GBP 5.05 extra payment so they return it in a SD envelope.
