Frode, you asked about a lawyer? That should have been your first step, as you can see from all the advise you are getting. Get your OWN lawyer, not one your wife knows, to represent YOUR interests. You are playing an expensive game where you don't know the rules, and its designed to screw dumb foreigners. Do it right away, before you improve the land. Good luck.

My two cents is that if you and the child are Aussies, go to the Australian Embassy for advice. You can probably contact them online. The web site looked good too. They will advise you if you need a lawyer, go to police etc.

GHB goes out of your system in a few hours and is difficult to detect anyway. Not surprised if the crooks who run Koh Tao have it available for their dirty deeds.

You have gone off the deep end. Nicotine in e-cigs is non-carcinogenic. There is formaldehyde in cigarettes, maybe in some e-cigs. Cigarettes kill over a Million people every year due to the presence of strong carcinogens, but you want "proof" that e-cigs save lives, like you have any idea what you are taking about? The only bad chemical you seem to know of in some, not all, e-cigs is formaldehyde, which is classified as a "probable carcinogen" unlike cigarettes, that have about 5 very strong carcinogenic compounds. You have put on an impressive display of your lack of knowledge.

Jeez, what worse, ex-hookers or ex-smokers? If all there is in the cartridges of e-cigs is nicotine, e-cig pose zero health problems, except elevated heart beat. Cured tobacco has several potent carcinogens, mainly niconitrosamines, and they can't be taken out. The content of E-cigs can be regulated to make them harmless! The FDA in the USA regulates the use of E-cigs but has not approved or disapproved of them. E-cigs were invented before the US Tobacco industry ALLOWED FDA regulation of tobacco products. The last I heard was the FDA wants to reduce the nicotine in cigs to make them less addictive. I know of no plans to regulate e-cigs, and they probably should. But I can tell you, you are more likely to get struck by lightning than to get harmed in any way by anything in an e-cig. They have helped millions of people get off cigarettes, which KILL millions of people every year. E-cigs have saved a lot of lives in that way, they are a far healthier alternative to smoking cigarettes. Thailand should not ban them, Thais know they are healthier, and as has been noted, banning e-cigs is a move to protect the tobacco monopoly in Thailand, and that is the only reason.

How do Thais still get away with this? How can you buy a property that you can't have in your name, and not know you are being screwed?

There has to be a penalty for stealing a Presidential election with the help of Vladimir Putin. And it has to be impeachment at a minimum. I am sick of republicans stealing elections like the disasterous GWB in 2000. We have to save our democracy from big money and duped republicans soon, or they will make all their corruption legal, and it will be too late. We will become a corporate fascist state, that we nearly are already.

I think if Annie can stand the cold winters she will be ok. David has had a stroke already before he was 48 so he doesn't appear to have a long life ahead of him. Annie is wise to go to college, and she will be able to get a job, and find a new husband when the time comes. I didn't think she would like the freezing weather, but with Thai TV on YouTube and free calls home on FB, its easier for the girl to live in godforsaken climates.

I'm wondering why if he was wanted in the UK for a "Class A" drug offence (not sure what that is) why wasn't he apprehended trying to leave the UK? You can just run away like the Hi-Sos in Thailand?

Is that correct , was there an argument ?
Yes, I read two previous stories that they were arguing. The first one reported arguing near the apartment, Another one said they argued at the bar.

I've had plenty of exercise on my balcony, with girls from bars and not from bars... great view!
The first time you met them? I fooled around on the railing of my 33rd floor apartment (by myself) and my not a bar girl gf started screaming. I was just joking.

A bar girl wouldn't be stupid enough to have sex near a railing in a country where people jump or are pushed on a regular basis. 2nd, there were reports of an argument, 3rd he ran for. Like the earlier poster said, he's toast.

It happened to me twice. Report to Bank immediately, got refund. Had to order new cards, no ATM for two weeks. We had a friend in Pattaya who was a police Captain who investigated ATM fraud. He asked for the transaction number from my bank where I last used the card, so he could find the exact time I last used it to view the security camera to possibly find the culprits. I was about to leave by then, I didn't ask, and I'm 99.9% he would not have shared that information with me. Its police business, not yours. The perps can stand behind you with their phone. I would go inside a bank if possible the next time I used an ATM in Thailand.

Get an attorney you can trust before purchasing any Thai real estate. You can get swindled very easily.

If I was living in Thailand (like the farang I am) I sure as heck would not be encouraging any kind of revolution. Criticizing the Government, and pointing out its shortcomings is well and good, (we have our interests) but to do any more asks for "attitude adjustment" or worse. We will just have to let Thais decide what to do ultimately.

Women's rights in Thailand are poor compared to women in the West. They need to stick up for themselves against jerks.

They made suicide legal in California if you have terminal disease. You can just have a drink and apparently you are dead before you put the glass down. This guy did the right thing by not jumping. Thailand should consider legalizing suicide for terminal cases like this.

I had a 45,000 deposit, and my landlord was very slowing in paying it back for a condo in BKK. Luckily I used a nice Thai lady as an agent, and she got it back for me. This is the way to go if you have to leave because your visa expires. No chance of getting it back if you are thousands of miles away.

Yes, Daboyz1, the US Embassy asks on your immigration visa if your worked as a prostitute in the last 10 years. Not exactly sure if that is grounds for denial, but it sure won't help. They won't be able to change their story now. Sad.

I've seen lawyers advertise on Pattaya online newspapers. Sure, no one really likes them, but a court is the only place you may save your assets. You should study Thai RE law yourself so you are an informed consumer. I would have bought her a condo I could put my name on if it was me. But its only land at this point, so there isn't a lot at stake I suppose.
