My wife of 4 years was turned down for a tourist visa last year. It seemed like the interview was over when she she/we didn't own a house in Thailand. I expect to get her in next time around.

I think you'll have a very tough time getting your girl in. Always worth a try.

They will not give a tourist visa to your wife. Flat out no!  I went through that.  You have to get an immigrant visa.  For this young man the fiancée visa is the best option.    The way things are going, its better to not have a bf if you want a tourist visa.  I don't know about the education visa.  Jim Styers helped me fill out all the paperwork for a very reasonable fee, and my wife got her 10 year green card about two years ago.  It helps to have an expert American help you if time matters.   Mistakes take a long time to correct.   The wife suddenly wants to become a US citizen after jerko got elected!  lol!

As for them being happy here, they do not like snow (except to visit, like Tahoe), or being isolated.  What we have here in Sacramento is a nice Wat, so she has a nice social life.  You can find them friends at Thai resturaunts.   In time, she will learn better English and have American friends.  She needs to work harder at it, you need an intelligent girl, or its hopeless.  American women can be VERY jealous so be prepared for that.  Also, FB now allows free video calls to Thailand, so that helps.

  2. I would say 65% of suicides in TH are financial, 25% for health, and 10% are homicides because someone did something stupid or had the wrong gf.   Its not easy to retire at 52, and he could have had money problems he was hiding for his friends.  He seemed estranged from his family, so if he did, it was probably financial.  The wife could have proven this.

  3. With all due respect to his friend, that is no way a "suicide note".  It looks much more like a breakup note.  And apparently he cared about his family, why does he leave it so unclear that he is actually Killing Himself, with no reason why, instead of just "moving on", possibly from a girl?  And lots of Thai people can write excellent English, but couldn't talk to you for 30 seconds!  They teach writing and grammar in school, but they have no one to practice speaking with.   The only motive for this is what we heard from a "friend".  52, retired, with a nice Thai gf, and able to dive is a lot of years away from being "old and decrepit".   Way too fishy.   I mean the easy way is get a bunch of Xanax, and drink your favorite fifth quickly, you don't wake up.  Toxicoligy report confirms it.  No muss, no fuss, no bodies to clean up.  I think jumping is gross.

  4. "Practiced proposals" will mean little to you when you realize you are dealing with people who have the power to decide where in the world you two will live.  I thought it would be a simple process when I first got to Thailand.  I felt a whole lot differently when I had to leave my wife in BKK because my Thai visa expired.   They only gave me a two month extension on my 6 month visa in TH when I got married there.  I had to go back to the US and get a one-year marriage visa to return.

  5. US Immigration lawyers are a lot cheaper in Thailand (get a farang) than in the US.  You can also get a fiancee visa, but they seem to prefer you go all in with an immigration visa.   Its time consuming (9 months at the soonest), and a hassle, but the sooner you start, the sooner she will have that nice stamp on her passport and a two year greencard.   A fiancée visa may be faster, get a lawyer, a mistake on your application can cost you months.  Then you need to report in two years to show you have behaved like a married couple, (not hard if you have) and then you get a 10 year immigrant visa and you can forget about it for a long time.   So check with your lawyer before you get married.  I paid B55,000 a few years ago, American lawyers in the US are 2-5x that price.   I heard some talk a year ago that they may phase out the fiancée visa, but I don't stay on top of it anymore.

Trump isn't "down" by any amount of votes.  In case you hadn't seen the news lately, the election is over.  Trump was elected.

I was responding to the guy who said Trump won the popular vote, and the guy who said Trump would "Drain the Swamp".  Wrong on both counts, and no election is not over until the Electoral college votes in December.

Have you forgotten the majority that voted for him? Nearly the same margin! Meaning the TV forum "vote" is similarly divided. Seems like you are the only "sane" one around here, but nevertheless in the minority.

He is almost down by 2 million votes and its getting wider as they count more votes in California.    "Drain the swamp?"   He is filling his team with DC lobbyists.

  8. The idiots have run amok.  No one knows what Trump will do, because he changes his mind like the wind direction.    No matter for his low-info supporters, they just wanted the black man out.   Drain the swamp someone said?   Trump is currently filling in his administration with lobbyists.   He doesn't know how to do the job, so he has to.   Going to build a wall?  No not really, the border guards don't want one, it cuts down visibility.   Scrap "Obamacare"?   Trump said he want to keep the parts about kids up to 26, and the pre-existing conditions, so it looks like we still are going to have "Obamacare".   Its only been three days!    Republicans are suckers!

i think you might be deluding yourself.

Most farangs end up with short, dark skinned single mothers who worked in the bar scene who no thaiman wants.

Buy ahooker a house, car and look after the extended family financially

The thaimen are not jealous they are laughing their heads off. If some foreigner came to my country and.married a hooker and then bougjt her a house i would be laughing too. No jealousy whatsoever.

    A laughing stock.

Ask your thai.friends if you have any, they will set you straight.

My wife was not a "dark-skinned hooker", I do have friends, and they are jealous, as I almost got together with his hi-so gik.    You should be careful about thinking you know too much.  And even then there are low so Thai men that would like those dark skinned girls, who don't get any ******, so I'm pretty sure the delusions are yours, pal.   Did you have a look at this guys wife in the article?   Was she an old dark skinned hooker?  I don't think so.   But think what you want.
