  1. And well worth the point as well. We're improving week on week, hopefully that continues. Managed to get Jeff Hendricks (Newcastle) and John Buckley (Blackburn) in on loan. Couple of weeks working with what he has and we'll soon see. Needs to start picking wins up though now. Bizarre Owl. That is the day I first went to watch The Owls. I'd be 8 years old and my sister took me. Result was Owls 3-0 Bolton Wanderers. I did a bit of digging around that time a few years ago and was surprised to learn that in those days the team you played on Boxing Day was the team you played on New Years Day if I remember correctly. Wild guess yet again Owl.
  2. ???????????? It can't, it really can't. We are in turmoil. How can things go so wrong so quickly. Our Thai owner is a balloon.
  3. Normally wouldn't be too worried about leeds Owl but we are poor. Yes 20 shots or so but against a team from 2 divisions lower and with quite a few injuries. Not good enough.
  4. I'm going for "C" Owl, just the sort of thing JH would do. And no, if I get it right it's a pure guess, I haven't googled it.
  5. Improved performance again, really should have had a point which would have netted me £20. Think the writing could be on the wall for us, the fans are sick of the Thai owner and want him out. Midweek v Mansfield in a league cup game I think it is, certainly not a league game. Things are turning toxic now, crowd singing for Chansiri to get out of the club at yesterdays game.
  6. Not gonna happen Owl. The point at Cardiff I mean. I'll watch the game and report on it though.
  7. Very poor again, but improvement non the less. I didn't check the possession stats after the game but the commentator during the game had it up around 50%. Fortunately the commentators were home fans as well, can't stand listening to the opposition commentators although some aren't too bad. The most concerning thing though is the total lack of threat on goal. There's a breakdown of supply to the strikers, if it isn't resolved then we'll be going back from whence we came. We appear to have some local lad who's made it good in the states fancying a buy out. He has backers apparently, NFL ex players and reportedly a billionaire on board as well. I reckon he's just a tyre kicker though. Made his money in mental health, Owls supporters need some of that I can tell you.
  8. It's terrible Owl. We were getting beat for most of the game and just managed a draw and beat them on pens. Not convincing at all.
  9. I didn't have a clue Owl so I did a search on Gooble Images and it turns out it is, Prapawadee Jaroenrattanatarakoon Weightlifter And indeed, 31 letters.
  10. Yes, very poor. Calls for the managers and the chairmans head already. Maybe the owner should sell up and return to Thailand and concentrate on the family business, selling tinned tuna.
  11. Just thought, is it the hat lady?
  12. Thaksins sister? I know that is wrong as the birth year doesn't match but it's the taking part that counts isn't it?
  13. Worrying times Owl, we were absolutely garbage.
  14. John Collier, it was the window to watch.
  15. Tina and Bobby. Bit late to the party I know.
  16. Bloke I worked with many moons ago ran a kids footy team. He took them to watch Wednesday training when Big Jack was manager. Big Jack runs over to my mate, puts a tab end into his mouth and asks my mate for a light. My mate says, "Sorry Jack, I don't smoke now, I've been stopped some time now." Big Jack replies "Oreight pal, I wanted a light not your <deleted> life story."????
  17. I just hope we can beat the drop.
  18. Was that correct Owl?
  19. I'll go with "B" please Owl, which is a pure guess and I refuse to google it.
  20. As you say, the club was first formed in 1820 is the general consensus although there is some evidence that it was formed in 1816 which would put it just a year after The Battle of Waterloo. And you're right again Owl, it was a Cricket Club where the players found time to play as that was their day off or half day off. It was The Wednesday Cricket Club. Jump forward to 4th September 1867 where it was decided at the Adelphi Hotel in Sheffield to branch out into football where that would enable the players to stick together over the winter months and to also keep them fit. I'd personally much prefer to return to The Wednesday Football Club and there was a poll conducted on a fans forum which showed that we were in the minority, not like it would ever happen anyway. Our original nickname was The Blades, not a lot of people know that. That changed at some time after we moved home to Hillsborough, or Owlerton as it was more commonly know then and visitors more or less changed that by common usage and the presentation of an Owl mascot to the club around 10 years after moving in there. We are currently the 4th oldest league club due to Wrexham entering the league proper now and Notts County being still out of the league proper. Sorry, stop that, we're 5th again due to Notts County being back in. Interesting to see Crystal Place now laying claim to being older than Notts County, that is a load of old cobblers from cockney spivs though.???? And of course, the oldest league club, independent of any other influences is Sheffield Football Club. Strangely enough the second oldest club is Hallam FC which also hails from Sheffield, based in the Crosspool area. I think Hallam also have the oldest ground in the world as well. https://www.hallamfc.co.uk/index.php/club-news/265-join-the-1860-members-club https://sheffieldfc.com
  21. Hmmm, not sure Owl. You got the score correct but you were due to tell us the origin of my teams name but I don't think you got round to it. Or did I miss the answer.???? Of course, the answer should include the date the club was founded.
  22. My missus reckons their sweet apples. They look like pears to me I told her. She doesn't think i'm the full shilling.
