Report Expat Confusion Grows as Thailand Cracks Down on Helmet Law Violations
Humpy replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
So its OK to ride an electric scooter/moped on the roads, no license, no insurance, no helmet and the school kid is 12 years old ? Up in Isaan the police road checks start after the kids are in school and are complete before school out. What size helmet will the 2 year old need sitting on the fuel tank between the rider's arms ? -

Accident Helicopter Crash in Prachuap Khiri Khan
Humpy replied to Georgealbert's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am News
I see a lot of members trying to explain how a helicopter can 'glide' !!! In the event of a total power failure the helicopter is capable of autorotation. Autorotation is a process where it's a crucial emergency procedure in helicopters, allowing for a controlled descent in the event of total power loss. The helicopter's rotor blades spin, generating lift not by engine power but by the upward flow of air through the rotor. Thanks to autorotation on several occasions, I am still here to explain the process !!! -

Perhaps Thailand should have an agreement like the US........ more money would be coming into the country for expats to spend here. I receive UK state pension of £400 per month which has not increased for 20 years. I have a military pension on which I pay UK tax. I do not trouble the UK NHS, ask for benefits or claim a heating allowance or free bus pass !!... but nice to know that the Immigrants in UK are enjoying their stay that I am helping to pay for. Has anybody seen a copy of the 'Areement' between Thailand and the UK ?

Thailand Faces High Road Fatalities as Songkran Safety Measures Launch
Humpy replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
We have police cash points, sorry, check points, in our area throughout the year. All the cones are placed on the road about 30 minutes after the school kids, 3 on a bike, no licence, no helmet, have parked their parent's motorbike outside the school gates. The afternoon check points have the cones removed just before the school kids make their way home, each carrying a drink including the driver !!. The roundabout traffic signs in our area are placed 1 meter from the roundabout. Are electric bike accidents/deaths included in the stats ? -
