  1. Parliament serves no independent function in a military dictatorship. Why does it exist. Threatening MPs who are already unelected, docile and compliant with criminal action if they vote differently than the executive demands is a loss of face for the MP, for Parliament and what's more a humiliation for the Thai people
  2. TAT should be dissolved. He should start an entirely new organisation based on honesty and transparency.. TAT is beyond redemption
  3. Expats spend the most on condos and rent, etc., and yet they are treated as second class and charged 10 times as much as locals
  4. Not expecting any allowances nor compassion for those poor souls who, through no fault of their own, remain unvaccinated
  5. Taking cues from Austria, soon they'll be 1,400 € fines if caught in public unvaccinated. Apparently unvaccinated there are required to perpetual lock-down, 24-hour curfew. One wonders what the difference is between strongly competing and force.
  6. Yes, there are many pressing issues. But ever issue should be voiced but is actively ignored and even suppressed in a military lead authoritarian system. Now is the time
  7. It's seems there is no limit to the hostility and vengeance the junta has for its kicking boy KSR. They already destroyed it long before the pandemic, now its just a macabre spectacle, beating a dead body, unstated reference intended
  8. KSR was stripped by the junta long before the pandemic along with their war on the street vendors in the wake of the coup in '14. It will be never be what it was, nor will the efforts towards' Singapore-ization' succeed, they'll only result in erasing the unique character of Thailand much loved by Thai and Farang alike
  9. No. Switzerland and the Czech Republic among many others do not recognise Sinovac as a valid vaccine. The UK did only very recently, last week I believe
  10. Around 7,000 people are still testing positive daily in Thailand, essentially all asymptomatic, like this man, but are advised to self-quarantine at home, no cost there. This tourist however, having tested positive, with no confirmatory test though he requested it, was sequestered and compelled to submit to treatment and anti-viral at an expense out of pocket of 350,000 baht which insurance may or may not cover. Anti-viral treatments are effective only in the first few days when symptoms are being exhibited but of no use whatsoever when there are no symptoms. This is absolutely insane and obscene, and though the likelihood is low of this happening, it should send a chill through all would-be tourists to Thailand and an ongoing sense of anxiety preventing any "fun" while on holiday. Unless this is made right it is a shocking incitement of the utter incompetency of the administration of this program. The father and the family are on a two-week holiday, which is utterly ruined and regardless of insurance payment reimbursement will be deeply out-of-pocket. Shame, Shame, Shame!!!!
  11. No. Sounds like what they accused Yingluck of, which was in part their justification for the coup in '14. Charges were NEVER proven and all charges have been subsequently dismissed for lack of evidence or proof of wrongdoing nor colusion. Yingluck was NEVER convicted and every single justification used at the time for the coup has been found unjustified by the courts.
  12. I thought the same when the movie theatres closed, but some permanently, and the gyms, and have off and on repeatedly over the 7 or so, "Not-a-lock down" lock downs and curfews. It's been crushing, the isolation, but adjust, adapt, make changes to see those needs met in other ways until those aspects of life return, if ever, life goes on, differently, it's not the old normal, or that ridiculous expression "New Normal", it just is, adapt, experience what is without longing for the past, and move forward
  13. Yes, agree 100% Self-insurance is the ONLY true security. We already keep 800,000 baht in an account for our extensions, recognition of that and perhaps something. more would be fair and equitable and available to the elderly. Instead useless paid insurance will automatically deny claims, and and promptly cancel with any new condition
  14. Why not just make it an even billion arrivals projected, it would be just as believable
  15. Bit of a "Squid Game" process there, getting there/here is the battle, and having once arrived, was it worth the ordeal...
  16. Because Hong Kong earlier listed, and now Taiwan, are "Territories", integral to mainland China, to refer to them as "countries" would ire Beijing
  17. It was earlier stated as Covid-19 insurance, and though that now seems to have covertly transformed into general health insurance for the length of the visa/extension And we still maintain 800K baht cash on hand in savings accounts Should have a better was to accept self-insurance rather than useless insurance coverage rip-off that will not cover relating to age, and pre-existing condition, etc
  18. I recently received a package of goods I'd ordered from the US. It was held at Thai customs at Suvarnabhumi pending my submission of 45+ pages hard copies and forms to fulfil a "paperless" process. It still took over a month. 1) there's no understanding of what these words mean, 2) it's not supposed to make sense
  19. Exactly. Same situation. I have American passport but want to see friends and family in Bangladesh for 5 days or a week ; round-trip, returning home to Bangkok,... Bangkok ACH, COE, testing worries potential quarantine, and $100K USD INSURANCE required for length of my retirement based Non-Im O visa make that prohibitive. Haven't been for over 3 years, no light in sight for foreseeable future based on latest govnt rumours. Oye!
  20. 20% of pre-Covid levels is wildly, hysterically optimistic, okay .... delusional. 5-8% would be more realistic. Forecast low, if actual meet forecast, kudus, if actual exceeds forecast declare victory and throw yourself a party. Forecasts with no basis in reality simply discredit the source and sow further distrust and public lack of confidence.
  21. So...., like every other high profile arrest, will this poor widow, the "perp", be obliged to re-enact her "crime" and dramatize her 4,165 days of overstay for the RTP to video? Deporting her to her native Hungary from Thailand seems like a terrible fate given the Viktor Orbán dictatorship there.
  22. Apparently there have now been enough vaccine doses ordered to fully vaccinate the entire population of earth 7 times over. Congratulations
