  1. Is there a Cambovisa.com? :whistling:

i havent come across any such vituperative site equivalent to TV. If anywhere deserved a right thrashing it would be Khmer (or Comer) as NGOs call it.

go look for yourself and experience some real safety and security issues and the stench of real poverty, ragged street kids and massive corruption

    cheers thai bashers :bah:

  2. Im sure we all miss the old don meuang, always a pleasure using it - sigh :(

but then it was designed and built by flangs

cant see the service being much use to pattaya pervs . It would take an hour to reach ekamai then 2 1/2 hours bus ride (would morchit be better?)

so hop on the bell bus - not after 1800 - note you have to pre-book this or they wont let you on - go figure

    or a taxi (opposite bell bus counter) - B2000 - 2500 haggle

always took a thai limo from don meuang B1500

i shall take the line of least hassle after 16 hours travel :jap:

  3. i been here long time and i wouldn't go down soi 6 anymore - makes the hairs on my neck tingle - alarms bells know what i mean

the lb bars have a bad reputation and the scum lbs are very agressive in the street

these street walking lbs really are bad news

good place to get robbed is on the beach front near the police station around middday, cos the cops are all out the back eating

you really have to watch yourself these days especially walking alone - stay on the lighted areas. there's a lot of hungry thai pimps whose gfs cant get the business cos theres no flangs, so they are coming out full on when they used to leave the girls do the dirty business :whistling:

  4. If you have to ask a question like that do you really need the answer duh!

Conducted an illegal war against Iraq (a former US ally and btw so was Sadam Hussein - the brown eyed boy of the CIA untill he had the balls to invade Kuwait which was stolen from Iraq by Churchill in 1944, what peed off Sadam was that the kuwaitis were blatantly stealing oil from the iraqi side of the border for years despite frequent warnings of hostility

Yes the 'merican war machine is even bigger than their arms industry

    Self righteous hypocracy

  5. It must rank as number one in the world for fine looking chickens at bargain prices you can afford not mention the stunning but dangerous Llamas (pushmepullyous) plus great weather, cheap suds, low cost accomodation and food, cheap transport (excluding mafia taxis) great night life - have I missed something?

great place to visit, hang out, live out of a suitcase etc but dont make the mistake of retiring or buying property - they dont want you staying here long time and putting down roots FALANG

  6. A typical building contract in a populous african country went like this

    1) All potential bidders are called in for pre-bid clarifications and are discretely told who will win the job and what price to put in (the emphasis being that on the next round of bids the next in line will get the job - very fair and you dont wast a lot of time and money putting a real bid together.

    2) Tenders are submitted and the pre-selected bidder gets the job for the price which is about 3 times what the real construction cost is.

    3) The successful contractor is called in for the kick off meeting but is given a verbal list of names, offshore bank a/c and amount and told to bring the cheques in separate unmarked brown envelopes. This amounts to about 1/3rd of the tender price and goes to pay off the top dogs who promptly vanish and play no further part in facilitating the project.

    4) Construction starts and proceeds to around 50% completion where various scams have occured which have taken another 1/3rd in bribes and rip offs. So this left 1/3rd which was barely enough to cover the real cost so corners are cut (eg elevators are downsized or ommitted, escalators not installed, toilet facilities removed and so on - does it ring a bell)

    5) at the same time building materials and plant are stolen and the remaining funds are exhausted and the job grinds to a halt a half completed skeleton

  7. hi speed train to rayong - presumably on top of the existing narrow gauge rail

WOw all those road crossings barrier to wing up and down

i suppose the train will have a super strong buffalo catcher on the fron - should easily cope with a family of 5 on a motorcy?

you would need high strong fencing to keep the silly buglers off the line. at that speed by the time you hear it coming then in the blink of an eye its upon you.

Anyway if its anything like the farcical airport link 5 years late and 10x over budget.

    Jingoistic rubbush :jap:

  8. The real danger is the underworked overpaid Australian civil servant

Dont ever try and go to oz if you are a pommy cock asian, they wont let you in

The outback already has a travel warning - no poofdahs

    Go home Les Hiddens

Remember TV wants you to keep on clicking, thats how they get their revenue, and will post any old inflamatory rubbish to yank your chain

What percentage of single male tourists are dickheads? 80-90-100-110%

  9. wow . so many naysayers .

u were the same guys saying no one would use the BTS because it's more expensive than the bus right ?

this new system is going to be great .

not only for the airport but for all the thais who live near its 9 stops .

and for those who work at the airport .

    good job thailand !

god forbid they build trains that go from central cities straight into the airport in the west

god forbid they build trains that go from central cities straight into the airport in the west

    <deleted>?

we got them in london, very effective both to LHR and GTW course not clever if you got a lot of luggage, london ug was never designed for people with luggage - oughta use a railway porter

i see the city line as a way of getting out of the clutches of the airport taxi mafia (sure they will find ways to sabotage that - hide the signs give false directions etc

god help anyone foolish enough to trust checking luggage in at the station WOW Im gobsmacked

when you arrive is the most difficult

used to be the magic bus went to pattaya, but theyve fcuked that up and now you have to call them up and book in advance to be allowed on the bus - amazing monkeys

so if i can get on the city line than hop off at phaya thai then shoot down to ekamai with mafia well praise the lord

yes it will take and hour longer but ive beaten the bar stewards

fyi i had to take a taxi after the magic bus fiasco if you turn and face the road from the magic bus desk its slightly to the left, forgotten name, but i had a good driver and the service was efficient but cost 2000B after i beat them down from 2500 what could i do at 6pm TIT, at least we stopped at the service station for some refreshments to calm my nerves

  10. quote

Cleaning a filter in a split system is unlikely to help but might make you feel better by taking other pollutants out of the air.

    unquote

you obviously dont stay in the cheap hotels i do.

the old aircons with the filter pad at the back of the room unit are the worst. i always immediately take the filter down and wash it, its normallly clogged up with dust and WORST still BLACK MOULD

This is unpleasant and gave me itchy eyes and coughing lungs. its a curse and very prevalent in LOS - as it is in the southern yankee states

its potentially harmful to young babies, children and old people with chest problems - no joke you dont want an attack caused by this fungus.

    So clean you filters

Also this mould collects on fan blades , you may have noticed a build up of black dust. fans must be cleaned once a month - its amazing how much dust and black mould collects on the blades. i use bleach as well.

    google the problem, its fascinating

one house in us was infested to the extent it had to be torn down.

    more info visit

    http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg376.pdf

    o btw

any kind of chest infection in the tropics must be treated quickly and viewed as potentially serious - it can escalate rapidly and you can die, so dont ignore it and leave it to fester for weeks - where the bacteria colony grows stronger and more drug resistant

i had a annoying chest problem and went to the quack who gave me a green pill - a very strong antobiotic that made me very dizzy but it did the trick, sorry forgotten the name but i did look it up and it was a serious drug.

  11. sometimes i think TV will publish anything to get punters clicking on their site - have you noticed

anyway, many years ago i knew of a 75 yr retired plumber, we called him little Roddy. he was one of those who would come in the bar and boast about what wimin he had last night

we all got really bored with this, but he wouldnt take the hint - they never do.

one day he came in and told us hed got this cambo woman with her 4 daughters to come and stay with him in his bungalow and hed just finished rogering her

the following day he said he started on the 18 yr old with her mother help

and the following day - yes the 16 yr old

and the following day - the 14 yr old with everyone joining in

by this time the bar flies were really pissed off and through him out of the bar

we never saw him again, but the cambo family was seen walking down the road carrying a large TV

im just amazed that the old fella thought he could get away with it up country

my experience is that village life is full of gossip, you cant fart or ferk without someone knows about it

  12. The Public Health Ministry has issued a warning to people to protect themselves from infection by eating cooked and hot food, using a middle spoon and washing hands frequently.

I presume that means a METAL spoon :whistling:

Just noticed a large poster in Tesco Korat stating that a separate spoon should be used for serving food.

The Thai habit of everyone dipping their spoon into the main dish is <deleted> disgusting!

Well dipping your wick is even more disgusted, look where thats been

and btw the most bacterial place on your body (not mine) is your mouth, huge hoard of microbial activity and then you engage in spit swapping with another mouth and you dont know what thats been on yuk

Toilet door handles, bannister rails on escalators in big C

just because Im paranoid doesnt mean Im not sick

  13. that will help tourism (but do they care?)

given the poor quality of cement and the rubbish way they mix it ina trough in hot temperatures the resulting concrete is about %10 of the strength of european version. have you noticed how easy it is the hammer down an old column with a malet

    http://www.ajarnforum.net/vb/practicalities-of-living-in-thailand/47077-when-was-the-last-major-earthquake-in-bangkok.html

bkk is on a great pan of deep mud. any excitement sends the whole place quivering like a jelly

it depends on how the trmors travel as to how fault line activity some 200k away in mid burma affects thing

given the very low risk, its pretty crass to publicise such scare mongering but its a way of focussing attention away from red shirts i guess

  14. Some good news- i happen to know that the Thai governments next 5 year development plan includes an objective of encouraging western retirees to retire in thailand and changing the laws/regulations as necessary. Slight bad news is that i think they are aiming for the wealthier retiree so the min. financial requirements may be on the higher side.

if this is correct then Malaysia taught them a lesson.

here we go - this was Toxins old pitch - only high rollers allowed.

its about time they raised the gates - B1,500,000 a year income - that would shake the tree somewhat. Well theyve done this several times before (it used to be 200,000). One time if you bought a condo for 3mill then you got an automatic renewable year visa without income statement but they quickly shut the door on that one

if you are wealthy there are many much nicer places to be than low life los.

also you dont want to rub shoulders with cheap charlie retirees - you stick with your own bracket

  15. Well there have been numerous consistent things not to do about coming here to stay as a retiree

Sadly, in my waste of time experience, newbies almost never listen to or follow the accepted good practice guidelines handed out by well meaning long timers

So really its up to you

pay your money (plenty of that needed) and place your bet and dont cosy up with the locals (st ok)

try and be sociable and join in with other expats

if you are one of those antisocial loners with issues that floats around the fringes making a nuisance, taking everything he can for free and giving nothing in return - then piss off

  16. OMG it say 1074 peeple are reading this topic as i speak??????

WOW jessie you realy hit the journo jackpot, someone innarested in your santimonious crap

now which of my natural functions shall i perform first

    Breath

    spit or swallow

    piss

    shit

    or

make pseudo reproductive effort with miss thailand - wake up you bitch

    heh heh

    will you get laid today?

  17. Think this line proves how superfical people are in in Thailand...."Her story has elicited an outpouring of public sympathy because she was pretty and popular"

So if she wasnt pretty and popular, no one would give a sh*t that she had died ??,

or she wouldnt deserve public sympathy if she was fat and ugly ??

Oh please! Don't criticise Thais just because you can. It's the same everywhere else. In the United States, no one gives a shit if a black or Hispanic girl dies or goes missing. But the press and everyone else goes apeshit if a pretty white girl skins a knee.

ERR well unless she happens to be Jewish :)

  18. the kidnapping scam is a lot more common than is widely known

It was particularly important with a falang/thai white skinned child as they fetch a high price (doesnt bear thinking about)

There was a high profile case (only cos the flang was in the media) where his thai wife had gone down to the 7-11 for a quick shopping, when she got back to their bangkok appartment, her house maid had absconded with their 9month old.

Naturally they were frantic and used every media contact to get the case shown on thai TV with fotos.

The baby was found dumped in a waste bin at a petrol station up khon khaen and only noticed because it was crying feebly, hadnt been fed. obviously the tv coverage had scared the kidnappers

so that was a near miss as the child would have been across the border into Laos and vanished.
