Is it really a purge? Or were they trying to stop people using agents to illegally circumvent the requirements?
Looks like whatever, someone somewhere didn't approve.
I think the reason was Big Joke was starting too ‘interfere’ too much with the ‘relationship’ between Agents and I.O.
No way do The I.O. want to ditch their lavish lifestyle supported by Agents.

An Agent told me you have to pay to head up an I.O. Jomtien have a new one replacing the woman, he said around 1 too 2 million baht bearing in mind he also said Immigration take 10000 baht cut from the Agents for each Retirement Visa.

My wife says that the quality of clothes and shoes are better and some times cheaper in the U.K. (Primark is her favourite shop) even though most of the stuff is made in India or Cambodia.
The other thing she can’t believe is you can change stuff if you keep the receipt.

We applied just before Songkran the first time, the VFS Office was very busy, we had too wait an hour after the appointment time,it took over 3 weeks for the Passport to be returned, last time nearly 2 weeks, it depends how many applications they are dealing with as well.

What happens when an agent is used?
They will just charge you another fee if they received the same paper too report back in 90 Days/3 months.
Or if you always use an Agent every year I don’t think it will be a problem,.

... and the number of threads the topic generates. They should start a separate forum just for TM30/TM28 questions.
The problem for me every I.O even the individual I.O Officer interprets the rules and regulations differently, people have no idea until they turn up at the I.O. what is too expect or required.
This is also commonplace about the many Immigration rules and regulations.

Owners don’t report using a TM.28. It’s for the foreigner to report a change of address.
what is required to report a COA will vary between offices from nothing other than the form and passport to proof of address and/or a TM.30 specifically completed by the owner.
I am reporting TM 28 as I am returning to Thailand from the UK, I am not reporting a change of address. I have no idea how to contact the owner, I pay the rent via a Bank Transfer.
-
What documentation is required for a TM28 as I will be reporting myself, the owner lives abroad.

Watching the video again it's worse than that;-
- Create account
- Login to see if eligible for type of visa.
- Put in all your details including travel details.
- Pay the fee.
- Then they send an appointment for you to go to the Embassy with your passport.
- Then they say they will e-mail you if/when they decide the Result.
- Then you have to visit the "mission" again to collect the Visa!
Have not seen any further info yet...
e.g. will the non-O ME still be available, based on state pension?
Two visits to the Embassy? Suppose I would not be worried about it if we stayed in London SW7, but we don't. Let's hope the London Embassy's superb postal service will still exist to some extent.
I sent all my details on a Wednesday and my Passport was sent back to me on the Saturday.
i can’t understand what they are trying too achieve by going electronic other than discouraging people from applying for Visas.

Read post *5 above.
The validity of the Visa is different from the validity of permission of stay.
The validity of the Visa is displayed on the vignette, and is valid from the 'Date of Issue' until the 'Enter Before' date.
The 90 day permission of stay is stamped in your passport on entry by an Immigration officer.
Your new Non Imm O ME Visa is valid 1 year.
Your permission of stay on each entry is only 90 days.
You cannot extend your permission of stay beyond 90 days (retirement). You must do a border run every 90 days to obtain another 90 days on re-entry.
If you exit and re-enter on the last day of the validity of your Visa (enter before date) you will be given permission to stay a further 90 days, totalling 15 months stay.
Is there a limit to how many Border runs you can do ?

What other country in the world would promote an event/celebration where hundreds die and thousands are injured in road accidents.
it is noticeable how many people actually leave Thailand during Songkran, I think there will be more leaving than arriving ?

When we first applied 2 years ago the decision was made in Thailand, I put all the info in a decent A4 Folder which they took from us and mailed back with the Passport, they didn’t really check the documentation.
The last one in January in a similar A4 Folder with all the documentation, this time prior to going into the room to submit the documentation it was checked outside, some stuff was returned which they deemed not necessary even though it was the same as the last Visa application.
The reason for all the checking was all documentation is scanned and forwarded to India where I believe the decision is made now.

A little bit off topic, but relevant anyway.
How do the 'foreigners' who appear on BRITAIN's Got Talent get a Visa to 'work' in UK. Short term initially for the auditions, and then possibly long term if they impress the judges.
The Visa says you are not allowed too work as well ?

On the first application we had been together 3 years, I didn’t have any What’s App conversations etc, I copied all my journeys to Thailand from my Passport.
This is part of my first Sponsors, I have posted this in the past,
The reasons that can be given for guaranteeing someone will not overstay in the U.K.is that they own property/land and be in employment in their home country, xxx has neither. The main reason xxx will return to Thailand is she has no funds as can be seen on the Application Form. I fund xxx and our son for everything and under no circumstances would I fund her to stay illegally in the U.K., she has no family or friends in the U.K. either who could fund her.
The other reasons xxx will return to Thailand are, she possesses deep Thai values and very strong Family ties. Given the length of our relationship in Thailand, over 3 years I would suggest it is highly unlikely she would do anything to jeopardize our relationship or my financial support plus she has our son Anuwat to care for.
I would also say that her character is such that there are no circumstances where she would wish or want to remain in the U.K. illegally at the end of her visit. I will be accompanying xxx and our son on her visit here and back. -
My G.F is now on her second visit too the U.K., no job no money in the bank, I provided evidence I was supporting/sponsoring her on both applications.

Like Christmas and New Year the whole meaning of Songkran has been lost.
As we know the wafer was originally just a cleansing for cleaning your hands now it’s developed into a commercial thing.
I don’t honestly believe droves of tourists arrive to ‘celebrate’ it, I would say the opposite.

A single entry Non O must be used before the expiry date of the visa (which is 90 days from the date of issue). A completely separate issue is the 90-day permission to stay you receive on entry, This, indeed, starts on the day you enter Thailand. This is true regardless of where you received your visa (nothing special about a visa from Hull).
This is a typically garbled explanation from an embassy website. The closest visa it is to describing is a Multiple Enter Non-Immigrant O-A (long stay) visa where you receive a one year stay each time you enter during the validity of the visa (and can, in fact, get almost a full extra year by entering Thailand just before expiry of the visa).
Just understand that the permission to stay granted on entry is not linked in any way to the issue date or expiry date of the visa you receive from the consulate. If you enter during the validity period of the visa, you will always receive a 60-day, 90-day or one-year permission to stay (depending on the type of visa).
Thanks, they don’t appear to be able explain many things, it’s on their website now about the new e visa application starting from May.
It states you apply online then you collect the Visa in London, I couldn’t see the Embassy coping with hundreds turning up every week for a Visa. I assume and they haven’t clarified it that you can still apply online and they will post it out too you ?
Its ok where they have local regional Consulates like Hull for short term Visas but having too travel too London seems a bit much ?

Yes.
You can enter any time up until the Visa expiry date and get 90 days permission of stay.
When I got a 90 Day Single Entry from Hull the start date was when I entered Thailand not the date it was issued ?
i copied and pasted this from the Thai Embassy Website, it says you can only stay 1 year from the date of entry, no mention of an extra 90 days, the visa expires 1 year after you enter Thailand ?
Multiple Entry Non-Immigrant Visa will be valid for 1 year from the date of issue. Travellers must enter Thailand within the validity of visa. However, the permitted length of stay is up to 1 year from the date of arrival in Thailand.

I write the 3 digit number down in a secure spot and scratch it from the back of the card. It is really only used for online purchases. No problems as yet.
TBH that’s a great idea and I will be looking into doing that myself.

The visa is valid for one year from the date it was issued (shown as the valid until date on the visa sticker).
You can use it to get a new 90 entry up to the valid until date. It is possible to get almost 15 months of total stay from by doing an entry just before that day.
4 minutes ago, BritTim said:If you look at the visa sticker, there are two dates. One is the date of issue. This is the earliest the visa can be used. The other is the visa expiry date, the last date on which it can be used to enter Thailand to get a 90-day permission to stay. You will get the 90 days even if you enter on the last date the visa is valid.
I am a bit slow, so if I enter Thailand a few days before the expiry date I will get another 90 Days with out going to Immigration etc ?
-
I received a Multi Entry Non O Immigrant Visa from London based on myself being in receipt of my UK State Pension, I know that it only allows you too stay in Thailand for 90 Days on any one trip.
Will the 1 year start from date I received the Visa or the date I enter Thailand ?

I left my debit card at a Bangkok Bank ATM at an out of the way 7-11 on a Sunday afternoon. The following morning I went straight to the bank and told them what I had done. They said, if the machine has been opened and the money replaced, your card will be destroyed by the workers. However, we will find out if that's the case now.
They made a quick phone call, and told me the machine was due to be opened in a few hours, and that they flagged the workers, who delivered it to a bank office at Ruem Chok (don't know if the spelling's right there), and I had my card back in hand at 6:00 PM just before closing time.
And that's how you get your bank card back from the bank. Oh, and save your receipts. I did not save my receipt, and it made it more difficult to get all this done, but I did get it done. Everyone was very helpful, from the people who ran the 7-11, to both branches of Bangkok Bank.
How many people caught sight of your card with all your details and the the 3 number code on the reverse before it was returned to you ?
All the information on the card can be used for online shopping maybe not now, if it was me I would have destroyed it and got new one.
