  1. Your motor is overheating because it’s drawing too much current. Two causes of drawing too much current are 1. Low voltage. 2 Pumping too much water.. Try restricting the flow by closing your delivery valve this will reduce the rate at which the pump has too work.

  2. You may have a problem with the supply to the AC. The circuit breaker may have a loose connection the electrician may have missed the hole in the CB when he tightened it up and the wire only touching making the connection. Check the screw is tight, tug the wire see if it comes free. Do the same if you have a switch/isolator near the AC. Look for signs of ants/vermin in both and make certain they have a positive feel when they are switched. Compare with others the like. Check the connections in the AC itself.
    Remember to Isolate everything before you start.

  3. As in A the horizontal can only transmit the force in the horizontal direction so it will do nothing but add extra weight in the truss

    As in B the diag beam will carry some weight BUT it will transmit a horizontal force into the upper beam so the top half will be in tension and the bottom in compression. Not what the engineer designed it for. If you want the extra diagonal bead you will need to to put another one opposite to balance the forces so there is no additional forces put on /in that top beam. These extra beams also change the direction of forces and the size of the forces on the welded joints so you really are opening up a can of worms

  4. I see in your photos one brush spring is loose. You prob knocked it loose with your poking, in case it would not of caused your problem just the other brush would just work twice as hard.
    Look at the connections in the bottom right inside the control panel. These should be the connections of the alternator windings. Look for loose connections or signs of hot connections. Good luck and don’t make it a girls look.

  5. Option # Separate all the circuits you don’t use on a daily basis and install a generator and a change over switch. Normal day to day switch to PEA then when the guests arrive and the load builds start the gen set and switch those circuits to it.
    Best way forward is gas and I’m sure if you put more time into exploring the possibility you will be able to circumvent all your objections to gas.

  6. I think your AC is in need of a clean. Looks like someone egged your outdoor unit. Look for another reason for the mark on your condenser coil cause a leak that bad you would have lost all your gas and the unit could not make ice. Short of gas is one of the things that cause it to ice up, others are thermostat set too low and AC never stops running to de ice, outside air leaking in so AC runs continuously or the AC may need cleaning.

     Always check connections out of the box as they do shake loose in transit and/or a lazy factory worker getting a sore hand tensioning bolts and finds he can get away with slacking off. Yet I find a lot of loose ones and in good quality stuff. Checking their connections only takes a minute or two and saves downtime and needless expense down the track.

     

    No need to swing on it when checking just use as much force as you use to take a screw top off a bottle of beer.. If u have a loose one it will show up.

  8. Sounds like a sensible precaution to me given the state of the wiring in many Thai homes. I am (very) far from being an expert, but couldn't a borrowed neutral somewhere mean that a circuit could be live even though the breaker for that particular circuit was off?

    Yes it is very dangerous working with borrowed neutrals as you can test and find the circuit dead and when u break the neutral to add something to your circuit you suddenly have full voltage on that wire. So unless you know your installation well isolate everything and live to a ripe old age.

  9. Haven't gone very far have we. Sitting in your easy chair with a laptop(me too) . Put your finger on the Ethernet port and see if the geckos are back.
    Seriously you dodged two bullets and we need to put some protection in place. I would fit a MEN link and I know you don't like that but u probably forgotten why you don't like it. Your installation is far bigger than the normal Thai house so you have to think big protection. MEN will give you more protection on the front end too.
    Touch that Ethernet port again. Still ok
    Fit RCBOs on your final circuits particularly that one that has a track record of geckos.
    You dodged two bullets it time to disarm the gun. The bullet may hit someone you love more than yourself
    Touch that port again

  10. Thanks for the lesson on meters but it is wasted on me.
    To test for an earth fault I isolate the circuit by disconnecting the active wire from the CB and the neutral wire from the n/l then using a MEGER set to 500 volts and test from each wire to ground. Because you fault is in the order of 15 Ω you will be able to pick up the fault with a multimeter.
