I know you prefer Bumrungrad but the best spine doctor in Thailand is at BNH

    https://www.bnhhospital.com/search-doctor/entry/4093/

If an MRI is needed, can save money by doing it at  www.mrithailand.com

If you get the all clear to try exercises/PT,  many people recommend

    https://www.bpcphysio.com/

If there is no radiation of pain down the leg and no numbness or tinhling in the legs, you could try physio first (or even home exervises/stretched, many on youtube)  before MRI/doctor but stop at once anything that produces pain

If there is radiation of pain down the leg or leg numbness/tingling, see doctor first

    Super helpful thanks @Sheryl 🙏

I would feel more comfortable to go to Bumrungrad as they have all my medical history, is there a chance you can guide me to a Doctor there?

As you suggested I primarily want to get cleared for PT (and the insurance cover). There is no radiation of pain or tingling to the legs.

  2. Hello,

I'm looking for a doctor recommendation regarding my lower back pain, preferably at Bumrungrad Hospital (I'm a regular patient there).

Gettin back pain now almost regularly when sitting for a bit longer and want to have it looked at and maybe get some physiotherapy.

Bumrungrad in Bkk has an excellent dermatology center, I speak from experience. Not cheap but very good.

I have had numerous basal cell carcanomas excised so consider myself a fair expert. Liquid nitrogen is only effective for keratosis, pre-cancerous lesions. Surgery is required to confirm entire excision of affected tissue.

Most of the Bangkok Hospital chain have dermatology units, I use the Bangkok Samui for my events.

Please feel free to pm me if I can be of any help. Good luck!

Do you mind share the Dr. you can recommend in Bumrungrad, also per PM if you prefer. 🙏

Hopefully others can chime in with any Social Media Farang-oriented off-road groups, but I can give you my experience in off-roading here.

In 2016 I also got a Ranger 4x4 and have explored around Rayong area some and also other places in Thailand.  Tried multiple routes to get over Khao Nang Yong hills just north of Map Ta Phut area, never successfully.  The trouble here is trails get washed out VERY quickly in wet season and go from 'beginner' to 'need A+ level expert driving and equipment' in less than a season.  Also, vegetation quickly overgrows if no one is trimming back or driving a trail constantly.

For a real "Beginner" trail that is well-travelled, I can recommend driving up to Phenoen Thung viewpoint in Kaeng Krachan NP.    https://maps.app.goo.gl/Edif9NRGDM14a1Yy6

You can camp up there as well.  Most vehicles are tours, but private vehicles can also drive.  A 4x2 could make it, but you're gonna torture the transmission on the way up and toast your brakes on the way down.  There was a new, red-plate Benz 'SUV' that had done it the day we did.  Badly damaged the rims of his 22" wheels.  "Talay Mog" (Sea of Fog) often seen from the top if you get there early enough in the morning.

What a great answer, exactly what I was looking for. 🫡

Will definitely give it a try!

If you like your car why not consider getting a custom seat for it that's more comfortable for your back and to your liking? It doesn't make much sense to replace the whole vehicle if the only issue with it is seat comfort. I suspect an SUV will also consume more petrol than your existing vehicle.

See glad I asked, the idea of a custom seat didn't came to my mind. Will definitely look into that option.

  6. Hello,

I'm currently having a Mazda 3 and Im quiet satisfied with the car. But with me getting older I start to get back pain when sitting for longer periods of time.

I start looking around and found the Ford Everest to be comfortable (it also has lumbar support).

Since I never owned a SUV I don't know how the high suspension travel, high seating position and potential wobbling would be a factor on long distance highway travels.

Let me know what you guys think.

Actually you take the injection every two weeks so you could stop & that is the duration.

But really it is well tolerated & based on something some folks have naturally

Peter Attia who is quite well known in this field has been on it himself for many years

Is it even available in Thailand though?

    Worth watching this video 😉

Yes it was offered me as an option. The only point made was its very expensive and the insurance might not cover it.

  8. Hello,

I have high cholesterol and LDL Cholesterol levels. Health wise I have a chronic neurologic condition.

Doctor said such high levels are genetically caused and could only be marginally reduced through exercise and weight loss. However I starting to exercise and lost 5kg so far.

I got Vytorin (10/20) (Ezetimibe/Simvastatin) prescript. Which caused extensive nerve pain. We tried a stand alone statin Atorvastatin which caused the same side effects.

I'm now in Ezetimibe + exercise and weight lost but my levels are still to high.

Doctor said last options are PCSK9 Inhibitors but I hesitate as its a injection and I cant just stop it like tablets if I got side effects from it.

I search for some alternatives and found new drugs like Bempedoic Acid (Nexletol) which I brought up at my latest consultation but to my surprise the Dr. never heard about it.

Is there a doctor in Bangkok who is who is up to date on the latest medication to treat elevated cholesterol levels?

  9. Hello,

migth be a strange question but I'm looking for a quiet bar to hang out, preferably buakhao area / beach road / second road.

With quiet I mean no live band or music blasting with 120db through the bar.

    Any recommendations welcome

  10. Hello,

I have a Mazda 3 with the OEM wheels 205/60 R16. I want to change it to the bigger OEM spec  215/45 R18x7.

I have been to two dedicated rim shops and both told me that R18x7 doesn't exist in the rim after market, just R18x8 or R17x7.5 and I would need 225/45 for those rims.

I want to stick to the OEM specs, can anybody point me to a shop (Bangkok & Pattaya area) or manufacture which provides R18x7 ?

    Thanks in advance.
