  1. Tipping in some countries like the US is way out of control with the entitlement of hospitality staff off the chart. Tipping should be done if you feel the service has been really good, above and beyond the usual 10% etc. that is often added to your bill regardless.

It also depends where I am. If I'm in a decent hotel and the hospitality staff are crushing the service, then fine... but if I have any doubts about the place, then I'll simply pay for each drink/food item as it is ordered and arrives, then no bill to get screwed over on.

  2. You shouldn't read this forum too much, or other social media outlets either really, as it's flooded with downright nasty CCP and Russian bots spewing propaganda to try to control the narrative, and there is little "truth" being told, just subjective hearsay.... they even pay people to do it. Much better to get off the internet and sit in your garden and have a couple of cold ones.

  3. Going completely cashless for a society is actually really stupid. You need to have options and there should be multiple ways to pay for things depending on the thing you want to buy, as some ways are more appropriate than others. On top of that, you are giving away far too much power to the banks and government, plus giving these types every bit of tiny information about your life... a huge invasion of privacy imo.

Also, freedom is about choice, and anything that takes away choice from you makes you less free. So many are blindly marching into a China style dystopia with credit scores just because they are too busy staring into their phones, whilst being hoodwinked with the idea "It's for your security and convenience..".

Personally, I use cash as much as I can... as it is irritating when some duffus at the cashier takes 10 minutes to figure out how to use their phone to pay for something... and I don't want an electronic trail that I bought 5 beers, some milk, and chocolate on a Friday afternoon. No way!

As an aside, what will you do if there's no elecricity or the internet goes down? How will you pay for something? Just wait for the next perfect solar storm or another "Carrington Event"... cash should be kept as a backup way to pay for things if it all goes south, unless of course you have silver and gold sovereigns at home, as that would work too.

  4. The word "Farang" has negative connotations, even if many Thais don't think so or realise it... would it be alright if I said to a Thai in, say, Khon Kaen "Hello Isaan"? Haha.

However the phrase "Farange Khi nok" is not just bad, it's outright offensive, as it means "foreigner bird sh*t". There are lost of ideas of where the word "farang" came from, from Thais hearing from Persians long ago with their word for Frankish people, to it refers to someone who is just of white race, to ideas about all sorts.

  5. One of the most sensible and righteous court judgements for decades... trouble is, Starmer and his far-left government are alreadly planning to undermine it. Funny how 99.9% of the public agree with the court, but the lefty and green politicians are struggling to even make a statement, even the PM is silent. Just shows what contempt they hold everyone in other than their little tiny echo chamber. They should all be forced to resign for contempt of court and of what the public wants. They are going to have an awful day at the May 1 local elections... can't wait.

Another person attack... how about you address the content hero? Show us what you know? Or is it nothing? So many wise guys on here that post with not much to say. Dare you to post something credable and constructive instead of your usual BS.

Still never been there, you know nothing about China,

Oh no, I know plenty about that totalitarian communist sanctuary, and don't need to justify myself to you. Again, please post relevent and meaningful discussion on post content, rather than just personal insults, which is against the forum rules.

Still never been there, your blather is meaningless.

Clearly your comprehension levels are compromised... but I would expect nothing less though from a CCP apologist. As usual with you lot, it's attack the poster, not the content. Please come up with an argument that is credible to what was posted rather than just insulting the other poster... if not, then that is the height of failure.

But they are not now looking towards the US for those investments or business opportunities!

If you think that the CCP bot farms are not targeting ASEAN Now with properganda, then you are deluded. They are targeting everywhere and every online outlet from Youtube to this forum to anywhere they can try to bend opinion... paying people to do it too. How deluded some people are.

You have obviously never been there. The one child program ended years ago, the savings rate is high and people are looking for investments.

Nice cherry picking of one sentence and the one-child policy only ended like in 2010, but Chinese people aren't interested in the CCP's U-turn... damage has already been done. Looks like the pro-CCP bots on here won't like the truth in that post and will deny everything... hope they are getting paid enough.
