The problem is they may not be correct, but will you argue with the immigration officer and/or the queue ticket girls that they are incorrect when you go there for an extension when they say you didn't come and do a TM30 "correctly", as the way they believe it should be done, in this case physically at Jomtien immigration? Being correct is one thing, but arguing with an IO they are wrong and making them lose face probably won't go down too well. Might not only get a 1,600 baht fine for no or late TM30 but actually turn out worse. I don't think I'd want to get confrontational with an IO saying that they are wrong and make them lose face, especially when you are very reliant on them to stay here. In this case you have to believe what they say is "correct" and just do what they tell you to do.

100% agree with you in the fact that I would just say OK not possible and thank you for the information. Meanwhile I would then register online as I did and many others have done and not mention it to im. Especially as I don't believe they told you they wouldn't accept an online version. This would be a different matter completely.

I'm definitely not here to antagonise io's and I wouldn't think of arguing with them especially in the office as we all know how that would go. Normally most info can be found on here or online. I would always prefer to gain info by myself.

Are you the owner? You can't do it online as a tenant who's renting.

Lucky I went to Jomtien Immigration and did a TM30 there, as if you do it online you are not allowed to do it as a tenant who's renting. I asked Jomtien Immigration after doing the TM30 if I can do it online, and she said "no because you are not the owner. Only the owner can do it".

What I've found on this forum is there are a lot incorrect information being given. The best thing to do is to only listen to the immigration officers only. That's the only safe method.

Yes you can register as a tenant no problem as others have reported before. It differentiates between the person registering and the Tennant. You as a tenant can register and then add your landlord as the property owner with the address. Literally done it a couple of weeks ago.

Just need passport, rental agreement from your side to register in the system then landlord ID and house book copy from them to register the address. I got all the info from a previous thread.

Just make sure you download a copy of the new TM30 as soon as it's done (there is now an update where you can download rather than a screen print) as I believe it only stays in the system to download for 7 days.

Also with all due respect we all know that you can speak to 2 or 3 different im officers and get 2,3 even 4 different answers so they are not always correct.

as many reported and their website is stating you'll need to show 400k in your bank account when Appling for multiple entry visa non o based on marriage.

it was also said it does not to be seasoned.

however, I'd like to know if they issue single entry non o based on marriage without financial prove.

Yes they are still issuing non o 90 day single entry for parent/marriage without financial proof. I was there last week. Also I was not asked about the 10/20k at the border. Still very easy to get this type of visa, for now at least.

Talking to a friend said he got one today Savanakhet. I thought they had stopped them as well. I am on a parent visa. I heard the rules changed for that also where the childs mother now has to be present. Anyone have recent experience

I got a non o 90 day parent of Thai child last week and mother didn't need to be present. Only time she needed to be there is when I extended inside Thailand. No surprises and all docs needed on their website where correct. Only thing I would do differently next time is pay the 500 baht to get to the front of the queue. But to be honest I'll probably try a different embassy next time as there is sweet f a to do in Savannakhet.

    I like the pink ones.

Any colour you like if it means I can live here in peace without concerning myself with, is someone gonna get their grubby little mits on my coin. I mean if it's my decision then fair game and I deserve what I get but otherwise they can keep their hands to themselves.

Actually I'm partial to the pink ones too 🤣

I think the key is "has the tax been assessed", (in Dubai)? It has been assessed, (at the zero rate). But Lord knows how Thai RD will interpret that. It would be nice if they could let us all know, and PDQ.

Exactly and unfortunately we are all at the mercy of their interpretation which has literally just changed a 40 odd year tax rule 🤣

If no further documentation has been released by next month they've got no hope or maybe we've got no hope. It's like they had a few beers one night, decided they wanted some more of the folding stuff and announced this hairbrain idea while they where still half cut. Now they're in it up to their necks and can't get out.

Highly unlikely except for those income categories where the DTA unequivocally states that the EXCLUSIVE tax authority lies with the UAE which is usually only very few or even no income category at all.  You can check the DTA.  For all other income categories Thailand most likely will fully tax you and kindly give you a tax credit in the amount of any tax you have paid on this income in the UAE (zero) so you will de facto get fully taxed in Thailand.  Welcome to Thailand

I guess that's my point, if it is earned in UAE it has been assessed, the assessment was that the rate of tax is 0% it's not like you're earning it there and not declaring it there, it's been through the tax system. So by rights you have paid all applicable taxes before it is remitted into Thailand which you would have a tax cert, accounts etc to show this. Just because UAE has a 0% tax shouldn't mean that you get taxed again in Thailand.

No ones getting anything for their tax payment, no easier road to residency, no ability to own land, nothing, zip a big fat zero. Honestly they must think we have marshmallows between our ears.

    TIT!!!!

Sorry - no one knows the definitive answer to your situation - not even two Thai tax/accountants I have contacted.

You could well be the 'target' group the Thai RD is after - people who earn income overseas and then bring some of it into Thailand.

My advice is to wait until the Thai RD releases their 'clarifiying explanations' - they are currently reviewing the impacts and outcomes of this change and how best to proceed going forward. Hopefully they will follow Malaysia's lead and delay implementation for a few years to give people and companies a reasonable time period for both to assess their future financial decisions.  If they do not provide that 'clarity' or do not give enough time, it is extremely very likely that this matter will go to the Thai Courts.  People and Companies have been making financial decisions based upon a method of operating by the Thai RD, than has been ratified in the Courts for over 30 years, and making such a change with 3 months notice is very lieley to be ruled as being against the Tax Laws/Constitution.

Totally agree and thanks for your reply.

  9. So what would happen in this situation.

You have all your finance dealings in Dubai and your taxes have been assessed and deemed to be 0% (still possible to get 0% even with the new corporate tax) because they have been assessed and deemed 0% would this then mean that there would be no tax to pay in Thailand? I had a look at the dta with Thailand and UAE, pages and pages of headaches but I did find a few bits of info that would suggest that if you have your business interests there (all your financial dealings) then that would go towards UAE having priority over Thailand. Also you need to be in country for 90 days within a calendar year and this gives you tax residency there. If you where to live the remainder of the year in Thailand you would obviously be classed as tax resident in Thailand also. But because all your finances are in Dubai this would give Dubai the right over any taxes? Which have been deemed 0% and "assessed"

I'm sure people who have been used to 0% from UAE from which they get their money, dividends, interest savings etc from would not be willing to go to the strongest tax bracket in Thai tax because of this half sentence change in the tax law.

This is such bs, I've just confused myself with that I've written ffs! Anyway I hope someone gets what I trying to say 😤

Can you get a retirement visa there, without funds in a Thai bank too? If so what do you need to provide to Laos consulate, please?

The retirement one I'm not sure about as I would go for the dependant, sorry. I know not related but I have later found out that you can't get an annual dependant from Savannakhet only marriage but can still get the single dependant which still gives about 5 months with extension.

If I might ask, why did you decided to buy this brand and model?

I also have to buy something similar. Until now I didn't research any options.

For me the uncovered version which you have would work. In my case they are hidden.

    Thanks

I'm also looking and found these, they're a bit spendy but give 100% blackout of that's something you need as they have a cassette all around the window frame which also covers all the gubbins

Thank you for your reply I was looking for the yearly nono but it does not seem to mention this .

They do offer an annual non o dependant at Savannakhet (same as marriage) for 5000 baht as apposed to the 2000 stated on the website, they just don't mention it there. Been a few trip reports of successfully obtaining an annual obviously with the stipulation of doing an exit and re entry every 90 days to activate the next 90 day visit. I believe if the figures are correct you can get 17 months out of that one if you leave right before it ends and then tag on the 60 day extension at an Imm office in Thailand afterwards.

Don't expect anything soon from London RTE. I've pointed out several inaccuracies on their website in the past and have been told to mind my own business ????.  Last time I looked they were well behind on Covid restrictions.  The problems with them really start when they did their heels in over either a regulation that's changed or where the information on their website is just plain wrong.

I can't remember the details now or even the name of the guy at Hull but he had exactly the same problems with them and he was Honorary Consul. He told me that with a particular anomally, he could only speak to one person at London about it and get the particular application approved - all of the others refused.

The biggest problem for us is that we are slowly running out of alternative offices to use.  When they go over to E-Visa they will only accept applications from their own citizens or people with legal residence. No idea how long I'll be able to use HCMC.

I know it's ridiculous. I'll be honest I'm out after this next trip I'm on a  one way ticket, last one out turn the lights off! I'm sick of the bs in the UK and I'm lucky enough to be able to make the move permanently.

The way I look at it is I will travel the path of least resistance. Its crazy they will have those mistakes on the site and yet you can upload a written note saying N/A and its accepted!

I will be obtaining a parent non o from Savannakhet after the 45+30+60 is done. I'll be up in Isaan so a trip every 3 months out is good for me plus it's pretty easy to do that run and I know it's up and running as someone has already done a trip report. If that avenue ever gets closed off then I'll just get an annual in country.

Problem is there's so much bs surrounding visa's and extensions and the reality is if you've got some good info it's a piece of pi$$.

The one potential issue you may face is your airline wanting to see a flight out of Thailand during the 1st 45 days of your stay.

This can easily be got around by "Renting" an exit ticket (IIRC costs $14) but just something to be aware of before travelling.

If you do get stuck at the airport then some airlines have a waiver form saying you will pay all costs in exiting Thailand should you be denied entry for any reason but a mate of mine was forced to buy a ticket there & then (Birmingham UK Airport) before they'd let him check-in.

Yeah thanks I'll definitely be grabbing a rent-a-flight, for the sake of a tenner it's not worth the hassle. Some say you need it, some say you don't but my point of view is you don't need it until you do ???? been away far too long for a cock up at this stage.

I've just had a look at the RTE London's website and under Non O to visit family (which includes your wife), there is no figure mentioned.

The £10,000 you mention is for a Non O based on retirement.

It matters not that you are over 50, the correct visa for you is the family one.

Yes I did the same but I made a dummy app and that Q10 still shows up even for a non o wife/child which is where the confusion comes in. Can't believe they've not fixed it yet but TIT I suppose!

    Hi all, A little advice.

I used to go to Hull consulate for my married "o" visa for a month or two to visit my wife's family in Sakhon, a simple job.

However now I see that when I apply online for the same visa "o" Non-resident I am asked for 10,000 pounds in the bank?

Anyone have any advice on this, am I applying for the correct visa, has it changed.

We're intending to stay with the family for some 4 months, would the O visa be the correct one to apply for.

    Cheers for any help

Hi Noris, this came up a while back and I believe what others have done due to the mistake on the evisa website is uploaded the bank statement showing 20k baht for Q4 and scan a written note saying not applicable for Q10 as UJ suggested this is a mistake on the site but you can't not upload something for Q10 or the app will not go thru and the £10k is not needed for that application. Only 20k baht is.

The other option as others have stated is go visa exempt 45+30 days then extend to see wife or child for 60 which would give you the required 4 months plus a bit.

These are my 2 options when I return next month and to be honest I will probably go with the second as its a lot less hassle plus you would have to extend the original non o 90 to get over your 4 months anyway.

Good luck, maybe you could report back as to which option you went for in the end.

Laos is open for entries now. You could get a single entry non-o visa in Vientiane or Savannakhet where you can also get a multiple entry non-o visa.

Hi, is this also the same process for obtaining a non o parent of a Thai child in Savannakhet? Eg, same requirements apart from just needing the birth certificate as apposed to the marriage cert? (no seasoned funds)

Also does the birth need to be legitimised with docs or will the birth cert suffice?

    Thank you.
