  1. Hello,

I'm filling out my application for a multi entry Non immigrant VISA "O" and was hoping someone could help me answer some questions I have. I think there's some changes to the form as this is my 9th year residing in Thailand under the same VISA type and  I don't recall filling out a section for my current employment in Thailand.. Just to make sure, is it OK to fill out the information for the school I'm currently teaching at in Thailand (I usually apply for a Non immigrant "O" in case I lose my job for some reason thus jeopardizing my VISA status)? Also, under "purpose of visit:" do I check "other" and write visiting family?

    Thanks in advance

The activities allowed are mentioned in the license renewal form, where you have to show them. Download it from the krusapa website.

I have never come across any course (in English). I have decided to do a few short free courses through the internet. Many university now offer free-online courses. With many you can, for payment, have your identity checked and get a statement of participation.

    examples are:

    https://www.coursera.org/

    https://www.edx.org/

Sorry for the late response. Thanks for the examples and thanks for your time Ill check them out.

Are you talking about a teaching license or waiver for the teaching license?

For the teaching license it is a requirement that you do several activities to uphold your knowledge. This can be in the form of training courses, seminars, etc.

Thank you for your response. I'm talking about a teachers license. Would you know where in Thailand I can look to for seminars and training courses? The only thing I can find is TEFL courses which I already possess a TEFL certificate and a B.S. degree

  4. Hello,

I'm currently teaching in a school in Nakhon Phanom. I just recently got my teachers license extended and I believe it states that I'm required to attend a workshop or something of sorts. I know about the Thai culture course but it doesn't sound like they're talking about that course but something along a workshop to improve my teaching (I could be wrong though). Could anyone shed some light on this?

    Thanks in advance,

Yes. As @rijb posted, this is generally the way it works.

As Head Abbott, he would contact the Head Abbot of a Thai temple in Hawaii, one that has had direct previous experience hosting Thai Monks who should have the requirements down to a tight process.

You could probably email them as well to see what requirement need to be fulfilled both in Thailand and the US.

Thank you for your response. Ill have him contact the temple in Hawaii.

  6. Hello,

Please excuse me if this post sounds like a bit out of the ordinary topic about visa s to the U.S but here goes.........A head Abbot whose quite famous where I am (Nakhon Phanom) would like to visit Hawaii for a couple of weeks. I tried to ask the U.S Embassy for any information on this matter as Im absolutely clueless when it comes to Monks wanting to visit the U.S as far as what type of visa to apply for, who can sponsor him, etc. Would someone here give me any idea on what type of visa he can apply for and if I (U.S citizen already sponsoring my wife who has a visa already with two kids who are dual Thai and U.S citizens) can maybe sponsor him.

Thanks in advance for any help on this

Completely untrue- if you are legally married and can show your marriage certificate and a copy of wife's Thai Passport or Thai ID Card plus a letter written by wife stating you are still married and she requests a Visa be issued to visit with her and family a multiple is still available through the Los Angeles Consulate and New York Thai Consulate as well as the Thai Embassy in Washington DC. I am not aware that there is any requirement for financials.  In addition, the Thai Embassy in Savannakhet Laos still issues Multi non O's without any financials needed/

Thanks for your response and information. Ill do this and apply at the Thai Embassy in LA.

I presume you mean a 30 day visa exempt entry in which case yes, you won't have a problem getting into the country, but you may have issues at check-in in the US without a ticket out of the country.

Another poster said that Thai consulates have had the option of giving Mutli entry VISAs pulled which I've been applying at the Thai consulate in Hawaii all this time. Ill apply at the Thai Embassy in LA while Im at home in Hawaii. If for some reason I can only get a single entry, I will go to Savannakhet after 90 days to apply for a multi entry.

Thank you so much for your help and resonses

You can get a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage at the consulate in Savannakhet Laos with no financial proof.

I think you have been getting your multiple entry visas at a honorary Thai consulate. Most of those worldwide have had there ability to issue multiple entry visas pulled. You can get one at the embassy in DC or one of the 3 official consulates in the states.

A single entry non-o visa will only allow one 90 day entry.

    Hello,

Thanks for your response.  I've been getting my Non Immigrant VISA via the Thai consulate office on Oahu, Hawaii. Thank you so much for your information on going through the Thai embassy in the states. Ill be opting for this.

I am not so familiar with the US requirements, I am sure someone will be able to fill in the blanks on that.  Alternatively you can still get a multi-O (marriage) from Savannakhet without the need for financial proof, that might be an option for you.

Thats great news! Thanks again for your response. So, I think this would be obvious but Im just saying it to reassure myself. I should go back home and dont apply for the Non Immigrant O VISA and re enter Thailand when I come back with a tourist VISA and then head on over to Savannakhet (which is not bad as I reside in Nakhon Phanom) and apply for my Non Immigrant O Multi Entry VISA there.

Since I've been coming into Thailand every year with a Multi Entry Non Immigrant VISA, will I be granted a tourist VISA on arrival?

It will change in that you wont be able to do the border runs any more - at least not to get a 90 day entry.  Your single entry visa is just that, 1 x 90 day entry.  What is the O for - marriage?  If yes and home happens to be the UK you can get a multi from the embassy in London.

    Thanks for your response,

Yes, its based on marriage but unfortunately, my home is America. I heard I need to show 400,000 baht in a bank account......do you

    know anything about this?

  12. Hello,

I will be going on a trip back home and applying for a new Non Immigrant O VISA. Ever since 2009, Ive been getting Non Immigrant O Multi Entry VISAs but was told by the consulate that only single entry Non Immigrant O VISAs are issued. Every 90 days, Ive been doing border runs to Laos with no problem but now with a single entry, can anyone tell me how will this change?

    Thanks in advance

There must be information about it online but I've not seen any.  There is a notice posted saying that behind the counter beside the entrance / exit to the US citizen services office in the embassy.

Since every 90 days, I do a border hop in Laos as this way I dont have to take off from work as I can go to Laos on Saturday, Sunday, or a holiday which as the immigration office is open only Mon-Fri, my new passport which I got in 2015 will have my pages pretty much all used in 5 years so instead of my passport being good for 10 years, it will be good for only about 5 years. Bummers.

I was just in the US embassy in Bangkok and saw a notice that they no longer add pages to passport books, which they did before (I had them add some).  If that is true getting a new passport would seem to be the only option.  The steps for how to do it are clear enough on the website; it takes two weeks to process, and as I remember costs around 3000 baht.

That lead time doesn't include the delay in scheduling an appointment at the embassy to submit the paperwork, which would take as long as it takes depending on how booked up they are.  She might want to look into it now.

Thanks  for responding. I was just telling my friend to get added pages as my past passports had additional pages placed in my passport free of charge. Too bad they dont offer this service anymore. I wonder why they stopped it as my friend from the UK was envious of me as they never had that service but U.S citizens had.

  15. Hello everyone,

I have a friend who has a U.S. passport here in Thailand. She has a trip to Laos scheduled next month and she is down to the last pages in her passport. She just heard that immigration will

not apply a VISA on the last pages of her passport as they're not valid pages for VISAs. Has anyone encountered this problem and/or can anyone suggest what she can do? She is praying that the only option is not canceling the trip as she has friends scheduled to come over from the U.S. for the trip to Laos.

    Thanks in advance,
