I'm way older than 37 but love hardcore electronic dance music. Not sure the love of the music has anything to do with age right? Have a long term partner too so not looking for any new horizontal action but do still enjoy looking. Are you also ever too old to enjoy looking also?
Didn't say I have a feeling one way or another about the music (since you brought it up - it's good in certain settings for me), but I find the looking to be better in other places - or I can just order delivery from my nearly endless list of line contacts.

I've been getting similar questions more and more when I get up to immigration (maybe the 50 or so visa exempt stamps have something to do with it, not sure), anyway - explaining what I do for a living clears it up in 30 seconds. Occasionally they will also ask if I have a girlfriend... Not sure of the relevance there, but last time when I said I don't the female officer asked if I want one... 555.

Anyone know why are all the usual places completely dead and with no girls around? Is it due to all the bars and other entertainment venues now being open to 4am or is it that all the girls are now going to one of the seven Indian clubs instead? Places like 808, Flexx, Lucifer are completely dead compared to end of 2022, when the cops were closing everything early at 1am or 2am. Those places used to pump hard. Well, not Lucifier but 808 and Flexx. Places like Insomnia is a lot more empty as well. Seems like everyone goes to Myst these days, and a decent amount of folks go to Republic. The Indian clubs are full, with Janaaat absolutely chocablock full of Indian dudes and chicks too. Same with the Indian club opposite (forgot it's name) and the new Indian club Leela further down Walking Street.
Had my 1st ever experience of racism when trying to enter Panda club lol. Guard said Korean & Chinese only. Never had a problem entering Panda way back. Even other asian dudes can't get in it seems, only Korean & Chinese. I've got no problems getting into any of the Indian clubs though, as a non-Indian.
I know that the majority of forum users are well on in their years and probably all on retirement visas and I'm going to get the usual stupid comments like they're usually in bed sleeping by 8pm or everything should close by midnight, but I'm hoping there are some "younger" members on here that are on this forum.
I'm 37 - so make of that what you will...
Compared to "what it was" when I moved here 14 years ago - it's a combination of being more sterile, familiar, boring, and expensive. "Girl quality" has also taken a nosedive (regarding attitude, looks are subjective).
I can't speak for tourists whatsoever. It may be "I'm getting old", but the usual "spots" just don't appeal to me anymore, or to any of the guys I know within a few years of my age.

Oh no.
'Woke' has come to Thailand 😱
"Go hook up with delicious women in some other city" isn't woke/not woke - it's just dumb. Most of us didn't come here because we saw a billboard.
You're just seeing a "collision of poop for brained" people and deciding to pick a side for some reason. There is no side - they're exactly the same.

Got to keep the toys coming, for their war games as they will never use them for real
That's the idea - except when you need them for real it's too late unless you have them.

There's a bloke on here that gives counselling, he might be able to help you.......🤔
Ah, because I see relationships as futile (and have a bunch of circumstantial and statistical evidence to base this on) it means I "need help" - got it... unfortunately I'm not the one doing the same thing over and over and somehow expecting different results. Cheers though, you'll figure it out some day.

But are you a burned member, or gay..........?.....😉
Neither - just been seeing this <deleted> go on for my entire life and it's always the same story with equally bad results the world over. The reality is people (especially those born after about 1985) aren't really suited for living with other people regardless of background, sexuality, etc.

Oh really, I am sure we are all impressed.........
As for your last para, you sound envious they have a teerak, but don't worry, there's still time for you, even at your age, try something different than girlie bars, there are some nice ladies out there, even for an ageing Aussie with purport wedge.....😉
That's the worst advice possible. Neve get married to anyone (bar girl, regular girl, western girl, ladyboy, boyboy) - ANYONE.
Or do - I still haven't gotten of saying "I tried to warn him" in the middle of a laugh.

In the mean time Thai pretending to be accountants and agents continue to steal , scam and deceit without any repercussions what so ever.
and if you take one to court and win, your visa gets cancelled because accountant or agent is guilty and then PM goes overseas to scream how Thailand is open for business and more people should be investing 😎
Yes exactly nobody here has a visa at all.

Ah yes, these clowns, always trying to outplay the system instead of just buying foreigner quota in a condominium like a sane person.
Want to live in the countryside? Too bad - buy a car. Cheaper than burning millions on these games.

Each time I read such things I think.......riots! And riots is exactly what would happen in most countries where any group tried to remove the democratic rights of the people. Imagine trying to do this in France?
Sadly, the Thai people seem totally resigned to the fact that the Military will always be in charge of the country and there's nothing they can do to change that. So sad.
You're forgetting Freedumbland - now they riot FOR dictatorship in that place.

Idk man, different stroke for different folks... Not spending 1000 baht a year added maintenance fees on a fountain in the lobby seems like a good deal to me... Especially when multiplied across many units.

With your allowances here and the tax ladder, I doubt very much you will have any tax to pay. Plus your proof of having paid tax in UK.
No, no, no; let them leave based on false impressions. The less "taxation is theft" folks around the better - especially when they don't comprehend what taxation is.

Owning dozens of units over the years I've consolidated all my ownership into VT (5C/D only now) buildings. Best retention (and appreciation) of value and best actual "care" of any I have been involved with. Low maintenance fees (no wasted funds on fountains you don't actually "use" but look pretty, etc.).
The new buildings are all ticking time bombs ordered on wish (dot) com.

Been living here visa exempt month on month off for 14 years. It's a non issue. Lately it gets a chuckle and a มีความสุข from the officers.

Thai men are just as bad, if not worse.
It's about the "company you keep"... many cannot seperate "fun life" from "real life"... you think Bulgarian, Ukrainian, Romanian, etc. women (and men) in Europe don't do the same <deleted> when given the opportunity?

So sex with Thai career women IS free? Or do you have to be named Tom?
It's about where and who you're looking for and finding. Never truly "free" when you start looking at every last baht for food, drinks, etc. (though, again, that can range from 100 to 10000). But it can be "genuine" with many women, much as any place on earth. It still boggles my mind how many claimed expats who've been here for 10 plus years can't comprehend this... Or speak any Thai besides "Sawadee Krab".

Let's start at the beginning... How much was the simsod... Then we can conduct a rudimentary cost benefit analysis of the situation.
Though I don't see a situation where long term leasing beats short term rentals.

20 years, not 10.
The conversion to open air party BS started around 2013... so just over ten. YOU may have memories from 20 which you prefer over those from 10... but from it's inception to just over ten years ago it was a perfectly fine place to hang out. Now it's to "the hobby" what Khao San Road is to "backpacking". Essentially one group is to "blame" for starting it - but everyone kind of went with it for one reason or another... and now it's a place best avoided except by those with more money than sense.

there are a lot now. and there is a high turnover rate. despite assertions to the contrary, i think they are just losers who hang out there and give themselves job titles. i doubt they are paid. it’s not like anyone will buy them lady drinks, and if they did, the bar would think they are taking one away that a girl could get.
You'd be shocked at how many tourists are even bigger losers who fly half way around the world to pour alcohol into a drunk "manager's" gullet. Soi 6 used to be a great place to hang out 10 or more years ago... Now? See above post.
Thai government to tax all income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024

That's definitley tax evasion (appearance of it anyway) - and if your funds were already taxed then Thailand has no intention of taxing them again. Keep your returns, keep your receipts, do big boy things. The degrees of complication you guys are coming up with to avoid taxes which you are already exempt from (on the basis of having already paid tax on the funds) is absolutley hilarious.
