  1. well duh....I must be living in another thailand coz never heard of the word...paw-paw LOL

    thanks ja, Khun Norrad

    ...................................................

    Ok this for Daffy

You will find them sweeter if you leave them on "sunbake", however others like birds and squirrel might want some too.

or you can pick them early and put a paper/newspaper on them, their own gas will also help ripen the fruit, but some says the quality of sweetness will be reduced.

  2. If a woman is working in a factory she also has daily interaction with workmates and that can expand her social life.

    :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:P

    I don't see the joke

think naughty.....then read it again, Uncle :)

  3. but in fact they actually have some slope of a minimum: 1 inch per 10 ft normally

True, but it is probably not enough to withstand the rains here. And as for craftsmanship: unlikely to find that here in SE Asia.

Well anything more than that, it wouldn't be called a "flat roof" anymore, it will be a low slope "shed roof"

Agreed tho...about the quality of craftmanship here.

But if you arm yourself with some technical knowledge beforehand, you can at least inspect it yourself and tell them to fix any deficiencies right on the spot/ or later….at your satisfaction.

It’s not like the OP is buying a palace or something here, so it’s just going to take the OP less than 30 mins to walk back and forth across the roof.

  4. Allot of guys are talking about how their women should have jobs... Shit, mine has a job, To take care of me and be a good house wife. If I wanted a career woman I would have married an American. hel_l no, give me a sexy wife who spends her time keeping the house nice, buying makeup, cute shoes, and sexy dresses so that every time we go out she's looking hotter than fire. And when we get home she has all the time in the world to take care of Big Daddy. I'm old school, I'll pay the bills and all wifey gotta do is take care of me.... Man I love Thailand :D

Dude …..read the original post again.

It doesn’t take a genius to peel that simple potato…sigh sigh

The main issue here is ….“the amount that U r giving to her is not enough, and now she’s asking for more.”

However our OP thinks it will need the genius answer to the said problem.

So now what should our OP do, Genius? :)

  5. If I were to ask someone to make me Basil Chicken, with no chicken, but instead "Basil Vegetables" how would I do that?

    Thank you!

Seriously that would be very funny if you're ordering "Basil Chicken" without any chicken in it. At least ask them to put some tofu in it, otherwise there is not much to be had there :)

no chicken = mai sai kai....or mai aow kai

  6. Most flat roofs are torched down with asphalt over the waterproof membrance. The odd of leakage really depends on the workmanship of seams torching.

    And

There is NO such thing as "flat roof". Even if you see them as "flat" by naked eyes, but in fact they actually have some slope of a minimum: 1 inch per 10 ft normally.

  7. To the OP

If she doesn't think 15,000 bths/mo is enough.......then tell her to go out and get a JOB!!!

I assume she does know the meaning of the word? :)

I agree with the above - Girlfriend / Boyfriend / Male or Female.

    Why not try Working.

Its a lovely feeling being Independent.

The problem is....you wouldn't find "that many" independent thai girls with independent jobs..... with farangs in thailand

If you know what I mean...wink wink

  8. Well Nong Teacup, you said it best.

I share the same love and royal for the USA. Seems this greatest country in the world have been good to us. Although years of living in Thailand are greater than years of living in the USA, I feel more at home and enjoy my life here more than anywhere else. :D

Like you said...."nothing there for me , except my family."

That's so true. I just got back home ( in the USA) a few days ago after spent less than three weeks in Thailand. After meeting some members of my family and a few childhood friends.....then what ? :) I kept asking myself.

Time to go home I guess.

    Chok dee nong Teacup.

    Pe Tinky

    Chookdee? For what?

For becoming the next Mrs. Teeebooooow!!!? :D

Not until next year tho, ok you still have one more year to droooolllll on him…..haha

    And

Yay …U 2 ,with the glorious years in the land of the freeee

Cyea at the next gatorade game!…P’Tinky!!!!

    Nong TC :D

    TeaCup & P- Tinky

Glad you both appreciate the US for what it is.

Not surprising that it takes a couple of immigrants to sing the praises of the USA.

Considering that is what the US really was & is all about.

You both seem to have the right attitude....Congrats

Yes it’s amazing, isn’t it…. Your “attitude” can effect your vision of things.

And so far since I have been here, I haven’t had any problem with so-called the discrimination attitude from the american. I think that our attitude towards others determines their attitude towards us. Just my thought here.

  9. Well it must be quite entertaining for them, otherwise they probably wouldn’t do it.

Unless you ask them yourself, as why? But if we do that, one - the person is not likely to answer you truthfully, and two -he/she may start gossiping about you for asking him/her that kind of question. :)

  10. WOMEN: both sides have beautiful women in their culture

Both have beautiful to bud ugly, however there are more world pageant titile holders from Mexico than Thailand…..this should speak for something.

And many of your “thai beauty”, most of them are just “beautiful” in Thailand only, but try to take them outside Thailand…..well just another topic here.

FAMILY: both have large families and you always seem to be meeting some new in their family.

Absolutely non-sense and over generalization from your part.

May be to “many” the poor families for whatever their reasons might had been, but most thai families do have family planning knowledge. Go and check the thai birthrate stat.

But if you meant “large extended family”…then yea we do. Many times those members sure come in handy.

WORKING ABROAD. When the thai or mexican go to usa they never come home

Over hyped up statement here. Go out and try to expand your circle of dot also, if you have some time. Given the chance most thais would just love to go back home.

In my circle, most of them have the uni degree and had gone home to work with their daddy companies, goverments, and universities. Also many have dual citizenship.

As for me, my professional knowledge can not be used in thailand…without major flips, and not to mention the peanuts pay scale also, ...among other things

Didn't realize it was competition you are after on a simple posting. How unaspiring. I was simply pointing out events and needed improvements, right now the US might be ok, but as with everything in life nothing in life is stable and we as humans have very little control over much in life. My only real dream in that we see some actual improvement in the US. i dont know what mr Barak Obama can do in 4 years, but based on the mass amount of wealth division. Eventually in the US it will be your either poor or rich, the middle class is slow disappearing, wages have not realistically ever caught up with the actual cost of living. Health care in the US is a joke. Between the national debt of being more than 10 trillion and raising, plus social security debt. the only thing the US can do is raise taxes, spend less. American Auto industry is a joke they failed to innovate, only did they when gas prices where more than $4 dollars a gallon, to much reliance on SUV's, Trucks for profits. Between Bank Bailouts, Airlines Bailouts, Auto Bailouts, I woner who is next in line to come up and ask for a bailout. Anyway I'm logging off this topic I basically have a love - hate relationship with the US. Whenever I go home all I see are thugs who wear baggy pants who care more about thug culture and rap, disregard for anything and showing their butt cheeks and speaking ebonics ( note I have meet those who are educated, speak actual english, but their far few and inbetween )

    Seconded.

Well you wouldn’t get many bad yap yap away about the US from ME here.

Well for me, multiculturalism is what makes the US great. If you are an american, you probably wouldn’t realize how lucky you are to be born and live in the country that full of opportunities and freedom. Not to mention, its location of the many world top universities. That’s why many immigrants are still flocking here. You have the choice to come here and work hard to make a living and enjoy freedom. And the fact that a poor kid that grew up in a falling down house in a falling down neighborhood can grow up and become a successful business owner. Yes "many" have times when life is tough and everything seems to stacked against them, but if you don't buy into the victim mentality, you can do and become anything here.

However generally, it’s not the country for the weaks and weak minded, if you can’t constantly reinvent yourself to adapt with the ever changing economy, then it’s better to move to Thailand,…coz life here will be tough for you........(not including the retired people, of course)

    And

The majority of people in the US, I have found to have good hearts, strong back, good minds, and aren't afraid to use any of them....... every four years they can choose a new direction without blood shed.

Does the US have problems right now? You bet it does, but I don’t doubt the US will fix and overcome it once again…knock knock wood here. It has in the past and it will again. Maybe not without some pain but it will.

Yes US also has many bad point just like everywhere else in the world, but the benefits overall far outweight the other costs, for ME.

Oh… however I can’t really say all those above about THAILAND. At the moment,.....Nothing there for me, except my family.

    Just ME here

  12. I'm a thai

    For sunscreen..... I use......

Neutrogena SPF-30 - for normal use - very light weight

Neutrogena SPF-45 - for extra protection - just a bit too creamy to apply for liking..... but works great esp for thailand summer and at the beach.

Both of them are sweatproof, non-greasy feel, all day lasting, and N-45 comes in waterproof formula_

DAILY moisturizer for face - Olay "Total Effects" w/ SPF-15.....great and very non-oily feel

    edit:

oops sorry ....didn't see you said the word "cosmetic"

Anyway......many cosmetic pieces now come with sunscreen protection, anywhere from SPF 5-15 normally, esp for moisturizer and face powder

The brand name just depends on the preference. Most women, esp the thais, the more famous and expensive, is the better.

However I'm not THAT......and have found anything from "Revlon" works great for me, esp for the lipsticks-non chapping effect for my lips.

“Didn't realize it was competition you are after on a simple posting. How unaspiring.”!!! :)

    Ooh lighten up, would you!!

I was just playing around with you that’s all, … don’t be such a sulky sulky child now

    No sense of humor?….hmm

And as for the rest of your post,........don’t worry I already got bored enough by all the news channels over here already

Anyway…ok go do whatever, as I’m going zzzzz now also

    Have a nice day now

  14. It is Thailand for me until I die and after I am cremated and my ashes dumped around the house then I will be home again but this time there will be no need for a visa.

Well I like to LIVE in the US,

but I want to die in thailand tho, coz those nurses are sure "prettier" to look at when I'm sick and on my dead bed!!

Like sort of my last "fun-dee" experience :)

  15. Livinthailandos

Ahha based on your rebuttal above, I seem to have won the arguement by just a slight margin, that the US is the better place to live while we both still breathing!!!

Still a slight margin is....Good enough for moi tho :D

I have to give you the win on this one Teacup... :)

I am not planning on heading back any time soon, but I still agree with you.

I am sticking around because I have a decent job here, my wife has her own company here, my wife would prefer to stay here and we do not yet have to think about the cost of educating our children here.

Thats all I'm seeing and thx :D

ok the case is now closed "officially", livinthailandos....haha

    PS

Oii ....the education in thailand is not as bad as some people think.

I was educated there in a normal thai schools and continued my uni in the US ----no problem whatsoever,... including psychologically,

I seem to turn out ok.

Best of luck with your little ones

    TC

  17. I enjoy the western country, esp the USA more than thailand

What not to like....just naming a few here

    - housing price is getting sooo cheap now, better to buy than rent....and much better quality built (generally) than in thailand

    - endless activities and entertainments

I think this is a major factor that may push some people who are tired living in Thailand and were on the fence about going back, but held back because of the cost of buying a house during the bubble, may now see they have a once in a lifetime opportunity to get back in the market at a reasonable entry-point. In fact, I know people who have already returned for precisely this reason.

The boredom factor for long-term expats is also a major issue.

YEP this is precisely the number one reason I'm afraid of ...When I make my move to thailand :)

  18. TO: tea cup

I enjoy the western country, esp the USA more than thailand

What not to like....just naming a few here

    - cleaner air ( that is true the US does have cleaner air on some areas but not all, then again I live on samui where I don't see much pollution anyway )

Well a typical normal town can't really compare to the resort island, isn't it? Unless I happen to live in Hawaii, then it's sure better than Samui

    - dependable laws and order ( maybe so but how much redtape do you still see get through )

So far I haven’t experienced any redtape to cry over about

    - excellent infrastructures ( last time I check roads, bridges, sewage system and electric grid need a massive improvement and will need at least 1 trillion dollars to update the system and make it better, excellent infrastructure is only as good as the weakest link in the structure )

    Ahha…sewage system

Well it’s better to have existing system which needs improvement/repair than none at all - like Samui…where all those poopie of yours go huh :)

    - housing price is getting sooo cheap now, better to buy than rent....and much better quality built (generally) than in thailand ( cheap on housing depends on where your buying the house at. )

Overall with the law of average in percentage change over the years, they are much cheaper now …..with secure ownership in your own name. so no need to dodging behind the scene like in Thailand for foreigners ….wink wink

    - good consumer protection laws ( I"ll agree with this on many parts but always have to read that really small fine print and companies have gotten better at hiding details through endless pages on user agreements or warranties etc )

Well having some fineprints to read...is better than none ...haha

    - endless activities and entertainments ( i suppose as long as you have a real job to support all those activities its fine, and as long it pays well )

Yep…better economic opportunities for the educated ones with freedom to make your own choices and dreams.

    - true internet shopping experience, no comment on this as its very true

    ...etcs

BTW....Whatever it is,….overall Samui is worse than where I’m now

and I have not even a slight desire to move there...EVER.....nothing interesting to do or see there on everyday basis

    Just me here :D

  19. You could always sell your house in the UK, buy a condo in Thailand and call it quits with your girlfriend.

The problem is ... it's so difficult to unload any property right now, too high inventory

So the OP is practically stuck, unless he can find the renter or sell it at the give-away price.

  20. Dual pricing in the US....esp in education is still alive and well

    Tuition fees...

Out of state students pay more than residents of the state - even tho they are holding the same citizenship

International students always pay more.....many times - up to 3-4 times than the normal tuitition fee

    been there... done that

Nothing to complain, that's just the way it is :)

  21. I enjoy the western country, esp the USA more than thailand

What not to like....just naming a few here

    - 4 seasons

    - cleaner air

    - dependable laws and order

    - excellent infrastructures

    - housing price is getting sooo cheap now, better to buy than rent....and much better quality built (generally) than in thailand

    - good consumer protection laws

    - endless activities and entertainments

    - true internet shopping experience,

    ...etcs

    This is me tho

  22. First shot:

    What happens in Jomtien?

    The problem is....."nothing much"!!! :)

No....that slogan of yours will not work well :D

Yeah I thought of that too, it may make people think NOTHING happens! Kind of like the famous

    ok how about.....

"Have you seen our ViewTalay?" .....oooh this one is FUNNY!! :D

    "Come grow with us"

"You'd think it's funny too, if you live here"

is Pattaya on the north side, isn't it?--ok how about this...."Go north young man" :D
