  1. I'm glad too.

But their stuffs have been getting more and more expensive over this last few years, here in the US.

It used to have quite reasonable prices, but not anymore.

Many of their funitures, well I can find them with better quality and prices... at many high end store nearby.

    Just my experiences here

Not to mention many of their .."ready to assemble" pieces.....DEAR LORD!!!

It will be amusing to watch many of the thais with those instruction pamplets :)

  2. G54

Ooh...I'm sure you know about this, before you married her..............the "UP TO U" thingy.

So why is such a problem now? :D

Luckily I never heard (and never have) that from my wife - but another kind of women tend to say it a lot. Was this implied to be the reason G54 had heard it a lot or just something you have heard other women say a lot too? :)

U know the saying.....We are also partly responsible for the choices we make.

    So G54,...pray tell :D

  3. I would stick with the USA.

I can't think of another country that would let me continue my hobby of firearms.

Also there's more economic opportunity in USA "for me" ....than any other country, and it has the best military, so I don't think it'd ever get conquered.

Since I have no idea what the OP is looking for , as in what context or reference to…

…So yay….the above is my "final answer" for now. :D

...that argument seems to be a bit strange, because nowadays not many countries are in danger of getting conquered.

Tell that to the Swatt Valley of Pakistan, the Taliban would love to have a cup of tea with you...haha

Anyhow I was thinking in term of "not physically" but "economically" mostly

Hmm…should the americans ….get used to the fact that the once proud USA is quickly becoming a third world has been and start learning to use chop sticks? :)

Yes, you take your country and we will take our "third-world" U.S.A.....sure, see how that works out. Troll.

I may have a fine sense of the ridiculous, but YOU sir has no sense of humor. :D

Well it must be true with the saying…..

Analyzing humor is like dissecting a frog. If you are not interested, then the frog dies of it.

Anyway I thought I was offering MY intellectual perspective of the on going current affair with humorous sense.

    As for being a TROLL

Sorry your …ding dong ditch …is not working well with me here….haha

    So I suggest you...SKY UP!!! :D

  4. No problem, anytime

U know the roof system is tied down to the top of house walls, the bottom of the wall is tie down to the floor system, and the floor system is tied down to the foundation.

Everything works as one single matrix. So it’s natural as one moves due to various reasons, then so is the other (in various degree)…...and windows & doors are also part of this shift and change since it's also part of the house walls.

  5. Actually it's quite normal,...more so in esp for the newly built home

The cracking noises can be from several things…..for examples

    - thermal contraction/expansion

temperature changes making different materials shrink or/and expand causing cracking or other noises

-Sometimes, the electricity going into your house can have surges and that will cause a cracking noise

-If it's windy outside, that can cause cracking noises when it hits the outside of the house

-House is settling…..u know the earth is constantly moving and shifting

I wouldn't worry about this too much if the cracking noises are relatively soft, and don't get worse.

And/or… wait until you see some cracks, then deal with it when the time comes.

  6. There should be some sort of sealer, that you can put in a hand pump and spray the exterior with it......just don't remember the brand name here.

Most of them comes in either clear or black in color when dried

    and

Additionaly and most importantly..... You should have a proper "footing drain system" around the house also.....of course at the footing here

    Teacup

Thanks. As for the footing drain system, well lets just say their is nothing on the architects drawings that would indicate that has even been thought of. I assume, crudely speaking that is just a drainage pipe going around the base of the house to take water away from the base of the walls? If so I guess it would be easy enough for me to do or to get someone else to do. I will be on google all afternoon now :)

Perforated pipe (w/ holes) of atleast 4” in diamerter, clean drain rocks/gravel, and filter fabric

    The sequence is like this....

-dig a hole at the footing around the house …about 24” wide

    - spray waterproof sealer first on the house (stop at least 24" above the soil/earth level)…wait till dry (a few days in hot/dry weather)

    - put the filter fabric at the bottom of the hole and up along the house about 6” above the earth

You can glue this or staple to the concrete

    - put some drain rock at bottom of the hole(at least 6“), then pipe, then the rest of drain rock

Make sure you have at least 12” of drain rock above the pipe, then cover with soil if you desire,

Or …you can have the cover drain rocks all the way up to the same level as the soil/earth top.

I’m not in the office now, but if you don’t understand what I’m talking about, just google it for the technical drawing, or I can pm the drawing to you tomorrow.

  8. G54

Ooh...I'm sure you know about this, before you married her..............the "UP TO U" thingy.

So why is such a problem now? :)

Possibly because at first it's cute, but after a while it just gets annoying.

    aahh.....the huni-moon is definitely over!!! :D

  9. To the OP,

    She is serious with you

    You aren’t serious with her

So if you're not ready for a commitment, maybe you should drop her tonight…thus saving you from any further annoyances and headaches????

Just say “NO”, and if she doesn’t want to understand that simple word, then prepare to walk away

Why is so difficult, don’t understand?

If you "really" don't want to do something, U just got to put your foot down firmly, thats all.

Just control it firmly from your end, that's all you can do

Take control of your own life, otherwise there are plenty of people out there will do it for you!!!

  10. SBK, don’t tell me you’re one of MY paparazziiiii too…hehe :D

Oii…don’t judge the book by its cover, sometimes the ending could surprise U….wink wink

To the OP, you definitely should move up the bracket, since Sbk is here now

    No offense p’Sbk…just jooooking!!!! Haha

Ok I better go now, before Sbk using her poof poof wand on me :)

Best of Luck, Tim .....and all j/k from me about the brain DNA ofcourse

  11. I don't think you're going find a "true" young professional at around 20 yrs of age...anywhere, even back in your home country!

U need to move up the bracket of your young professional friends to ( 28-45 )!!...seriously

Agreed! Being that Timothy is around 35 himself.

35 and still pea-wit of the diff between the "idealistic" and actual "reality" in real world.....haha

I'm 29 - young (but not hansum), prof. as Timothy called it....but waay off limit to timothy cause I'm straight!! :)

  12. Well I don’t know about all of you here, but for me…. I have found that, it’s easier to make money in the US than in Thailand? Or back in your country, wherever you happen to come from?

In Thailand - with all those strange laws, people, culture, language, etcs, ….you very have to try “at least “twice harder, just to get it going…as a foreigner. The obstacles are already stacked high up against you . It just seems like an extra hard work to me.

If you have the drive, determination, and resources……

Why haven’t you tried it back in your country already?…why waited to do it just in Thailand?

This makes me thinking about the OP or those in similar situation…..

If you very want to have a business, do you think it will be successful when you haven’t even run any business in your entire life or even have a clue of what business you want to be in?

To have and run a successful business, it takes more than just money and idea of what to sell, u know

Just seems a strange question/ and doesn’t make sense from the op,… to me

Unless it’s for a hobby or supplement the income in some small way, but as for the main income --hmm I very much doubt it here. I could be wrong of course. Time will tell.

But the odd is higher for a farang run successful business in Thailand.

For me…When I’m in Thailand, I don’t want to sweat over how to make the money, but rather just enjoy the fruits of my labor. If I don’t make it in the US, I probably wouldn’t fair that well in Thailand

    No offense

    Just my thought here

  13. Belize

2nd bottom of my list after korea...lousy food and high crime....Belize City has to be one of the biggest armpits of the planet.....yesyes the islands are ok but very boring....

Ohh… may be you haven’t been to the Caye Chapel island

Still Ambergris Caye is great tho, a good choice for taking tours to the reef---- not far away ---and great for doing some diving and snorkeling there. We happened to stay at Banana Beach, which was a great place also.

  16. I know someone with your background that "dances" on the side…haha :)

    .

    .

    .

Seriously, at your age and the education background…and have no clue of what to do with your life.......Then come here to ask the advices from bunches of strangers who most cases have never owned a business in their entire life or ever seen a balance sheet……You got to be kidding yourself here!!!

Are you seeing TV as a guide for “How to open a successful business for dummies”?

Go do some soul searching, “SERIOUSLY”…

To find out what you want in life, then get more education and training…then you may rethink of your plan to Thailand again

At this time…..You have no business to be in Thailand in the first place

Believe me, most likely you will be crying home, very soon from now

Don't think too loosely, you may come to regret it later on

    Just try to help here
